[AI] "I came to Hira and saw them prostrating to their idols, so I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should we not prostrate to you?' He replied, 'If I were to command someone to prostrate to someone else, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands, due to the right Allah has given them over them.'"

أَتَيْتُ الْحِيرَةَ فَرَأَيْتُهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ لِمَرْزُبَانَ لَهُمْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَوْ أَمَرْتُ أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ النِّسَاءَ أَنْ يَسْجُدْنَ لِأَزْوَاجِهِنَّ لِمَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ حَقِّهِمْ»

[AI] An Arab man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me permission to prostrate to you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband."

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ائْذَنْ لِي فَلِأَسْجُدَ لَكَ قَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen men in Yemen prostrating to each other. Shouldn't we prostrate to you instead?" He replied, "If I were to command someone to prostrate to another person, I would have commanded the woman to prostrate to her husband."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْتُ رِجَالًا بِالْيَمَنِ يَسْجُدُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَفَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَالَ لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا بَشَرًا يَسْجُدُ لِبَشَرٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ entered a wall of the Ansar, and behold, there were two camels fighting and thundering. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached them and put their reins on the ground. He said, "Whoever has anything with him should prostrate to him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not appropriate for anyone to prostrate to anyone else. Even if there was someone who should prostrate to someone, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands because of the great right Allah has placed upon them."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ حَائِطًا مِنْ حَوَائِطِ الأَنْصَارِ فَإِذَا فِيهِ جَمَلانِ يَضْرِبَانِ وَيَرْعَدَانِ فَاقْتَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْهُمَا فَوَضَعَا جِرَانَهُمَا بِالأَرْضِ فَقَالَ مَنْ مَعَهُ سَجَدَ لَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يَنْبَغِي لأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأَحَدٍ وَلَوْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأَحَدٍ لأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا لِمَا عَظَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ حَقِّهِ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ أَمَرْتُ أَحَدًا يَسْجُدُ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا

قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ مُعَاذٌ قَالَ يَا رَسولَ اللهِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يَسْجُدُونَ لأَسَاقِفَتِهِمْ وَبَطَارِقَتِهِمْ أَفَلا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَال لاَ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأَحَدٍ لأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about the People of the Book prostrating to their bishops and rabbis? Shouldn't we prostrate to you instead?" He said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband. And the wife would not fulfill her husband's rights even if he asked her to do so while riding a camel, she would give it to him."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يَسْجُدُونَ لِأَسَاقِفَتِهِمْ وَبَطَارِقَتِهِمْ؟ أَفَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا وَلَا تُؤَدِّي الْمَرْأَةُ حَقَّ زَوْجِهَا حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهَا نَفْسَهَا عَلَى قَتَبٍ لَأَعْطَتْهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sent Mu'adh to Sham (Syria). When he arrived, Mu'adh said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have seen the People of the Book prostrating to their bishops and monks. Shouldn't we prostrate to you?" The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , replied, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone else, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband. And a wife does not fulfill her husband's rights even if he asks her while she is on the back of a camel."

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الشَّامِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يَسْجُدُونَ لِأَسَاقِفَتِهِمْ وَبَطَارِقَتِهِمْ أَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا وَلَا تُؤَدِّي الْمَرْأَةُ حَقَّ زَوْجِهَا حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهَا نَفْسَهَا عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَتَبٍ أَعْطَتْهُ»

[AI] We were with the Prophet ﷺ during his journey, and he said, "If I were to order anyone to prostrate to someone, I would order the woman to prostrate to her husband."

كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرِهِ فَقَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا»

[AI] I came to Al-Hira and saw them prostrating to their idols, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you are more worthy that we prostrate to you." He said, "Do not do that, even if I were to command it, I would command women to prostrate to their husbands because of the rights Allah has placed upon them."

أَتَيْتُ الْحِيرَةَ فَرَأَيْتُهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ لِمَرْزُبَانَ لَهُمْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ أَنْ نَسْجُدَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «لَا تَفْعَلُوا وَلَوْ أَمَرْتُ بِذَلِكَ لَأَمَرْتُ النِّسَاءَ أَنْ يَسْجُدْنَ لِأَزْوَاجِهِنَّ لِمَا جَعَلَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ حَقِّهِمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone else, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands as a right upon them. A woman will never have the sweetness of faith until she fulfills the rights of her husband, even if he were to ask her willingly for herself on a camel's hump."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا مِنْ حَقِّهِ عَلَيْهَا وَلَا تَجِدُ امْرَأَةٌ حَلَاوَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى تُؤَدِّيَ حَقَّ زَوْجِهَا وَلَوْ سَأَلَهَا نَفْسَهَا عَلَى قَتَبٍ»

[AI] So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have come from a people who prostrate to one another. Should we not do that for you? He said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another person, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands."

فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَدِمْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِ قَوْمٍ يَسْجُدُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَفَلَا نَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَوْ كُنْتُ آمُرُ بَشَرًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ لَأَمَرْتُ النِّسَاءَ أَنْ يَسْجُدْنَ لِأَزْوَاجِهِنِّ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband, due to the great rights that Allah has bestowed upon him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لِأَحَدٍ لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا لِمَا عَظَّمَ اللهُ مِنْ حَقِّهِ عَلَيْهَا

"لَوْ أمَرْتُ أحَدًا أنْ يَسْجُد لأحَدٍ، لأمَرْتُ المْرَأةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا لِمَا عَظَّمَ اللهُ -تعالى- مِنْ حَقِّه عَلَيها".

"لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أنْ يَسْجُدَ لِغَير الله لأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأةَ أنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا، وَالَّذِى نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَا تُؤَدِّي الْمَرْأةُ حَقَّ رَبِّها حَتَّى تُؤَدِّى حَقَّ زَوْجِهَا حَتَّى لَوْ سَأَلَهَا عَلَى ظَهْر قَتبٍ أَعْطَتْهُ".

"لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأحَدٍ لأمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا".

"لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأَحَدٍ لأَمَرْتُ النِّسَاءَ أَنْ يَسْجُدْنَ لأزْواجِهِنَّ لِمَا جَعَلَ اللهُ لَهُمْ عَلَيهنَّ مِنَ الْحَقِّ".

"لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسجُدَ لأَحَدٍ، لأمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِها، مِنْ حَقِّه عَلَيهَا، وَلا تَجِدُ امْرَأةٌ حَلَاوةَ الإيمانِ، حَتَّى تُؤدِّى حَقَّ زَوْجِها، وَلَو سَأَلَهَا نَفْسها على قَتَب".

"مَا ينْبَغِي لأَحَدٍ أَنْ يسْجُدَ لأَحدٍ ولوْ كَانَ أَحدٌ ينْبَغِي لهُ أنْ يَسْجُدَ لأحدٍ، لأَمَرتُ الْمرأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجهَا لِمَا عَظَّمَ اللهُ عَليهَا مِنْ حَقِّه".

[AI] "I do not command anyone to prostrate to anyone. Even if I were to command someone to prostrate to someone, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband."

"لا آمُر أَحَدًا أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأحَدٍ، وَلَوْ أَمْرتُ أَحَدًا يَسْجُدُ لأحَدٍ، لأَمَرْتُ الْمَرأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزوْجِهَا".
