Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Messenger of Allah, what are these? Thereupon he said: When you meet him, offer him greetings;when he invites you to a feast accept it. when he seeks your council give him, and when he sneezes and says:" All praise is due to Allah," you say Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah show mercy to you) ; and when he fails ill visit him; and when he dies follow his bier.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ حَقُّ الْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ سِتٌّ قِيلَ مَا هُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِذَا لَقِيتَهُ فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا دَعَاكَ فَأَجِبْهُ وَإِذَا اسْتَنْصَحَكَ فَانْصَحْ لَهُ وَإِذَا عَطَسَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ فَسَمِّتْهُ وَإِذَا مَرِضَ فَعُدْهُ وَإِذَا مَاتَ فَاتَّبِعْهُ  

“The Muslim has six courtesies due from the Muslim: He should greet him with Salam when he meets him; he should accept his invitation if he invites him; he should answer [by Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)] to him if he sneezes (and says Al- Hamdulillah); he should visit him if he falls sick; he should follow his funeral if he dies; and he should love for him what he loves for himself.”

“The Muslim has the right to six acts of kindness from his fellow Muslim: he should greet him with salam when he meets him; he should say ‘Yarhamukallah (may Allah have mercy on you) when he sneezes; he should visit him when he is sick; he should respond to him when he invites him; he should attend his funeral when he dies, he should love for him what he loves for himself; and he should be sincere towards him when he is not present.ʿ It was narrated from Abu Ishaq from al-Harith... and he narrated a similar report with the same isnad. "حَقُّ المُسْلِمِ عَلَى المُسْلِم خَمْسٌ: يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا لَقِيَهُ، ويُشَمِّتُهُ إِذَا عَطِسَ، ويَعُودُهُ إِذَا مَرِضَ، ويَشْهَدُ جَنَازَتَهُ إِذَا مَاتَ، ويُجِيبُهُ إِذَا دَعَاهُ".  

"لِلمُسْلِم عَلَى أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِم سِتُّ خصَال وَاجِبَةٌ، فَمَن تَرَكَ خَصْلَةً منْهَا فَقَدْ تَرَكَ حَقًّا وَاجِبًا لأَخِيهِ: إِذَا دَعَاهُ أَنْ يُجِيبَهُ، وإِذَا لَقِيَهُ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ عَلَيهِ وَإِذَا عَطَسَ أَنْ يُشَمِّتَه، وَإِذَا مَرِضَّ أَنْ يَعُودَه، وَإِذَا مَاتَ أَنْ يَتَّبِعَ جِنَازَتَهُ, وَإِذَا اسْتَنْصَحَهُ أَنْ يَنْصَحَهُ".  

"لِلمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ سِتٌّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ. يسَلِّمُ عَلَيهِ إِذَا لَقِيَهُ، ويُجيبُهُ إِذَا دَعَاهُ، وَيُشَمِّتُهُ إِذَا عَطَسَ، وَيَعُودُهُ إِذَا مَرِضَ، ويَتْبَعُ جِنَازَتَهُ إِذَا مَاتَ، وَيُحِبُّ لَهُ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ، وَيَنْصَحُ لَهُ بِالْغَيبَةِ".
