"I heard the Messenger of Allah inviting people to have Sahur in Ramadan. He said: 'Come to the blessed breakfast." (Hasan) Chatper 26. Calling Sahur "Ghada" (Breakfast) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2163)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو إِلَى السَّحُورِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ «هَلُمُّوا إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ الْمُبَارَكِ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah inviting people to have Sahur in Ramadan. He said: 'Come to the blessed breakfast." (Hasan) Chatper 26. Calling Sahur "Ghada" (Breakfast) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2163)

"I entered upon 'Ikrimah on the day concerning which there was doubt as to whether it was Ramadan or Shaban, and he was eating bread, vegetables and milk. He said: 'Come and eat.' I said: 'I am fasting.' He adjured me by Allah to break my fast. I said Subhan-Allah twice. When I saw that he was insisting, I went forward and said: 'Give me what you have.' He said: 'I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Fast when you see it (the crescent) and stop fasting when you see it, and if clouds or darkness prevent you from seeing it, then complete the number of days of Shaban, and do not fast ahead of the month, and do not join Ramadan to a day of Shaban." '

أَصْبَحْتُ فِي يَوْمٍ قَدْ أُشْكِلَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ أَوْ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَأَصْبَحْتُ صَائِمًا فَأَتَيْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَأْكُلُ خُبْزًا وَبَقْلًا فَقَالَ هَلُمَّ إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ أُقْسِمُ بِاللَّهِ لَتُفْطِرَنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ حَلَفَ وَلَا يَسْتَثْنِي تَقَدَّمْتُ فَعَذَّرْتُ وَإِنَّمَا تَسَحَّرْتُ قُبَيْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ هَاتِ الْآنَ مَا عِنْدَكَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ حَالَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ سَحَابٌ فَكَمِّلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ وَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الشَّهْرَ اسْتِقْبَالًا»

[Machine] I entered upon Ikrimah on the day where there was uncertainty about Ramadan, and he was eating. So he said, "Come closer and eat." I said, "Indeed, I am fasting." He said, "By Allah, you will still eat." I said, "Inform me then." He said, "Ibn Abbas narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do not fast until you see the month (i.e., the crescent moon), and do not break your fast until you see it. But if it is cloudy or overcast and you cannot see it, then complete the count of thirty days.'"

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عِكْرِمَةَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَهُوَ يَأْكُلُ فَقَالَ ادْنُ فَكُلْ قُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَتَدْنُوَنَّ قُلْتُ فَحَدِّثْنِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الشَّهْرَ اسْتِقْبَالًا صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ حَالَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَنْظَرِهِ سَحَابَةٌ أَوْ قَتَرَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا»

[Machine] I entered upon Ikrimah on the day when the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan was being doubtful and he was eating, so I said, "Order me to eat (also)?" He said, "I am not ordering you to do that, for the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Fast when you see the crescent of Ramadan, and when you see the crescent of Dhul-Hijja, break your fast. If the sky is overcast (and you cannot see it), then complete thirty days of Sha'ban.'"

[Machine] We visited ʿUtbah ibn Farqad, and we mentioned the month of Ramadan. He said, “What are you talking about?” We said, “The month of Ramadan.” He said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘In it the gates of Paradise are opened, in it the gates of the Fire are closed, and in it the devils are chained. A caller calls out every night: O seeker of good, come forward; and O seeker of evil, desist.’” Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman said, “This is a mistake.”

عُدْنَا عُتْبَةَ بْنَ فَرْقَدٍ فَتَذَاكَرْنَا شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ مَا تَذْكُرُونَ قُلْنَا شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ *تُفْتَحُ **فِيهِ **أَبْوَابُ **الْجَنَّةِ **وَتُغْلَقُ **فِيهِ **أَبْوَابُ *النَّارِ وَتُغَلُّ *فِيهِ *الشَّيَاطِينُ وَيُنَادِي مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ يَا بَاغِيَ الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ وَيَا بَاغِيَ الشَّرِّ أَقْصِرْ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ

[Machine] From a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ that he mentioned Ramadan and said, "In it, the doors of Paradise are opened, and the doors of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained. And in it, a caller calls out every night, 'O seeker of goodness, come forward! And O seeker of evil, stop!' until Ramadan is over."

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ تُفْتَحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَتُغْلَقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَتُصَفَّدُ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ وَيُنَادِي فِيهِ مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ يَا بَاغِيَ الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ وَيَا بَاغِيَ الشَّرِّ أَقْصِرْ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ رَمَضَانُ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "In it, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed. The devils are chained in it, and a caller announces every night, 'O seeker of good, come forward, and O seeker of evil, refrain.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تُفْتَحُ فِيه أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَتُغْلَقُ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ ويُغَلُّ فِيه الشَّيَاطِينُ وَيُنَادِي فِيه مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ يَا بَاغِيَ الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ وَيَا بَاغِيَ الشَّرِّ اقْتَصِرْ

'The month of Ramadan. He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: In it the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of the Fire are closed, and the devils are chained up, and a caller calls out every night: O doer of good, proceed; O doer of evil, desist!"' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2107)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تُفْتَحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَتُغَلَّقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ وَيُنَادِي مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ يَا بَاغِيَ الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ وَيَا بَاغِيَ الشَّرِّ أَقْصِرْ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ

"تُفْتَحُ فِيهِ -يعنى في رمضان- أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ، وَتُغْلَقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ، وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ، وَيُنَادِى مُنَادِ كُلَّ لَيْلَة: يَا بَاغِى الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ، وَيَا بَاغِى الشَّرِّ أَقْصِرْ".

"رَمضانُ شهرٌ مباركٌ، يفتح اللَّه فيه أَبواب الجنة ويُغلق فيه أَبواب السَّعير، وَتُصَفَّدُ فيه الشياطين، وينادى مناد كل ليلة يا باغىَ الخير هلم، ويا باغى الشر أَقصر حتى ينقضى رمضان".

He heard Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman say: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best prayer after the obligatory (fard) prayers is prayer at night and the best fasting after the month of Ramadan is Al-Muharram.'" Shu'bah bin Al-Hajjaj narrated it in Mursal form.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَفْضَلُ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ قِيَامُ اللَّيْلِ وَأَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ الْمُحَرَّمُ أَرْسَلَهُ شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ

The most excellent fast after Ramadan is God's month. al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night. (Using translation from Muslim 1163a)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ قِيَامُ اللَّيْلِ وَأَفْضَلُ الصَّوْمِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ الْمُحَرَّمُ»

the Messenger of Allah said: "The most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is Allah's month Al-Muharram." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 740)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللهِ الْمُحَرَّمُ»

"The Messenger of Allah said to a woman from among the Ansar: 'When it is Ramadan, perform 'Umrah then, for 'Umrah during it is equivalent to Hajj."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاِمْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ إِذَا كَانَ رَمَضَانُ فَاعْتَمِرِي فِيهِ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to a man and a woman from the Ansar: "Perform Umrah in the month of Ramadan, for Umrah during this month is equivalent to Hajj."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِرَجُلٍ وَامْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ اعْتَمِرَا فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ كَحَجَّةٍ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to a man from the Ansar and his wife, "Perform 'Umrah in Ramadan, for verily performing 'Umrah in it is equivalent to Hajj."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَامْرَأَتِهِ «اعْتَمِرَا فِي رَمَضَانَ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ لَكُمَا كَحَجَّةٍ»

"The Messenger of Allah said to a woman from among the Ansar: 'When it is Ramadan, perform 'Umrah then, for 'Umrah during it is equivalent to Hajj." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2110)

قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ «إِذَا كَانَ رَمَضَانُ فَاعْتَمِرِي فِيهِ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً»

"اعْتَمِروُا في شهر رمضانَ؛ فإِنَّ عُمرةً فيه كحجَّةٍ".

"The Messenger of Allah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if clouds prevent you from seeing it, then complete Thirty (Days)."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ صُومُوا لِلرُّؤْيَةِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِلرُّؤْيَةِ فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلاَثِينَ

the Messenger of Allah said: "Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast with its sighting, and break fast with its sighting, and if it is obscured from you due to a cloudy sky, then complete thirty days."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «لاَ تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ: صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ۔ فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلاَثِينَ يَوْمًا۔»

"The Messenger of Allah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if clouds prevent you from seeing it, then complete Thirty (Days)."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2130)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ صُومُوا للِرُؤْيَة وَأَفْطِرُوا للِرُؤْيَة فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلَاثِينَ»

"لَا تَصُومُوا قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ، وصُومُوا لرُؤْيَتِهِ، وأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فإِنْ حَالتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا".

"We used to fast on 'Ashura and give Zakatul-Fitr, and when the command to fast in Ramadan was revealed, and the command to give Zakah was revealed, we were neither commanded to give it, nor told not to do so, and we used to do it."

كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ وَنُؤَدِّي زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ وَنَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ نُؤْمَرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنْهُ وَكُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ

"We used to fast on 'Ashura and give Zakatul-Fitr, and when the command to fast in Ramadan was revealed, and the command to give Zakah was revealed, we were neither commanded to give it, nor told not to do so, and we used to do it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2506)

«كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ وَنُؤَدِّي صَدَقَةَ الْفِطْرِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ وَنَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ نُؤْمَرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنْهُ وَكُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ»

"We used to fast on 'Ashura and give Zakatul-Fitr, and when the command to fast in Ramadan was revealed, and the command to give Zakah was revealed, we were neither commanded to give it, nor told not to do so, and we used to do it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2506)

«كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ وَنُؤَدِّي زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ وَنَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ نُؤْمَرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنْهُ وَكُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ»

[Machine] Abdullah said, "We used to fast on Ashura, but when Ramadan came, we were not commanded to fast nor prohibited from it, and we continued to observe it."

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ نَحْوَ «كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ نُؤْمَرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنْهُ وَكُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ»

"عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ، وَنُعْطِى زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا صَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ وَالزَّكَاةُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ لَمْ يَأمُرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهُ، وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ".

"When the month of Ramadan beings, the gates of Paradise are opened. The gates of the Fire are closed and the devils are chained up." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai) said: This meaning, the narration of Ibn Ishaq - is a mistake. Ibn Ishaq did not hear from Az-Zuhri. What is correct is what we mentioned it previously.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَسُلْسِلَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا يَعْنِي حَدِيثَ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ خَطَأٌ وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ مِنَ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَالصَّوَابُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لَهُ

" There has come to you Ramadan in which the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of the fire are closed and the devils are chained up." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: this narration is a mistake.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «هَذَا رَمَضَانُ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ تُفَتَّحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَتُغَلَّقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَتُسَلْسَلُ فِيهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ خَطَأٌ وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ مِنَ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَالصَّوَابُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لَهُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Ramadan has come to you, a blessed month. Allah ﷻ has made fasting in it obligatory upon you. In it the gates of heaven are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained. In it Allah has a night that is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness has truly been deprived.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «أَتَاكُمْ رَمَضَانُ شَهْرٌ مُبَارَكٌ: فَرَضَ اللَّهُ ﷻ عَلَيْكُمْ صِيَامَهُ، تُفْتَحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ، وَتُغْلَقُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَحِيمِ، وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ مَرَدَةُ الشَّيَاطِينِ، لِلَّهِ فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ، مَنْ حُرِمَ خَيْرَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ».

“Ramadan began, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘This month has come to you, and in it there is a night that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it is deprived of all goodness, and no one is deprived of its goodness except one who is truly deprived.’”

دَخَلَ رَمَضَانُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّهْرَ قَدْ حَضَرَكُمْ وَفِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ مَنْ حُرِمَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ وَلاَ يُحْرَمُ خَيْرَهَا إِلاَّ مَحْرُومٌ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it the gates of heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. "أتاكُمْ شهرُ رمضانَ شهرٌ مُباركٌ، فرضَ اللهُ عليكْم صِيامَه، تُفْتَحُ فيه أبوابُ السماءِ (الجنة) ، وتغْلَقُ فيه أبوابُ الجحيم وتغلُّ فيه مردةُ الشياطين ، وفيه لَيْلةٌ هي خيرٌ من ألِف شهرٍ، مَنْ حُرِمَ خيرها فقد حُرِمَ .

"عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّهْرَ قَدْ دَخَلَ عليكمْ وَهُوَ شَهْرُ الله الْمُبَارَكُ فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ، مَنْ حُرِمَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ، وَلاَ يُحْرَمُ خَيْرَهَا إلَّا كُلُّ مَحْرُومٌ".

"عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَهُوَ يُبَشِّرُ أَصْحَابَهُ: قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَمَضَانُ شَهْرٌ مُبَارَكٌ، كَتَبَ اللهُ - تَعَالَى- عَلَيْكُمْ صِيَامَهُ، يُفْتَحُ فِيهِ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ، وَيُغَلَّقُ أَبْوَابُ الْجَحِيمِ، وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ الشَّياطِينُ، فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ، مَنْ حُرِمَ خَيْرَهَا فَقَدَ حُرِمَ".

'I fasted Ramadan' or 'I prayed Qiyam throughout the whole month."' I do not know whether he dislike self-praise or he said: "Inevitably there will be heedlessness and sleep." (Da 'if)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ وَلاَ قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ وَلاَ أَدْرِي كَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ وَرَقْدَةٍ اللَّفْظُ لِعُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: One of you should not say: I fasted the whole of Ramadan, and I prayed during the night in the whole of Ramadan. I do not know whether he disliked the purification; or he (the narrator) said: He must have slept a little and taken rest.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنِّي صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ وَ قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ فَلاَ أَدْرِي أَكَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ نَوْمَةٍ أَوْ رَقْدَةٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنِّي قُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ وَصُمْتُهُ قَالَ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَكَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَمْ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ أَوْ رَقْدَةٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "None of you should say, 'I fasted the entire month of Ramadan'. Qatadah said, 'Allah knows best. I fear for His ummah (nation) regarding boasting.' Affan said, 'Or he said, there must be someone who is lying or unaware.'"
