" There has come to you Ramadan in which the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of the fire are closed and the devils are chained up." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: this narration is a mistake. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2103)

'The month of Ramadan. the Prophet used to encourage praying Qiyam Al-Lail in Ramadan, but not forcibly. And he said: "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are close, and the devils are chained up." Ibn Al-Mubarak narrated it in Mursal from:

“Ramadan began, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘This month has come to you, and in it there is a night that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it is deprived of all goodness, and no one is deprived of its goodness except one who is truly deprived.’”

The man narrated that the Prophet said. Concerning of the Prophet there, and I felt it was more appropriate for him to narrate the Hadith than I. the man narrated that the Prophet said, concerning Ramadan: 'In it the gates of Heavens are opened and the gates of the Fire are shut, and every devil is fettered. A caller calls out every night: O seeker of good, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist!"'

"The Messenger of Allah said to a woman from among the Ansar: 'When it is Ramadan, perform 'Umrah then, for 'Umrah during it is equivalent to Hajj."

He said, 'We used to call the pre-dawn meal the meal of halaqah (cutting off)'. As for us, we would say, 'The seventh night, the twenty-seventh night', and you would say, 'The twenty-third night, the seventh night'. So which of us is correct, us or you?"

Then we stood with him for twenty-seven nights until morning, and he remained silent.

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الْبُخَارِي وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَفِيهِ الدَّلِيلُ الْوَاضِحُ أَنَّ «صَلَاةَ التَّرَاوِيحِ فِي مَسَاجِدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ سُنَّةٌ مَسْنُونَةٌ وَقَدْ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يَحُثُّ عُمَرَ عَلَى إِقَامَةِ هَذِهِ السُّنَّةِ إِلَى أَنْ أَقَامَهَا» آخِرُ مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ عِلْمِي مِنَ الْأَحَادِيثِ الصَّحِيحَةِ فِي أَبْوَابِ كِتَابِ الصِّيَامِ مِمَّا لَمْ يُخَرِّجْهُ الشَّيْخَانِ

He heard Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman say: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best prayer after the obligatory (fard) prayers is prayer at night and the best fasting after the month of Ramadan is Al-Muharram.'" Shu'bah bin Al-Hajjaj narrated it in Mursal form.

The most excellent fast after Ramadan is God's month. al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night. (Using translation from Muslim 1163a)

He prayed with the Messenger of Allah during Ramadan. He bowed and said: "Subhana Rabbiyal-Azim while bowing, for as long as he had stood. Then he sat down and said: "Rabbighfirli, Rabbighfirli (Lord forgive me, Lord forgive me)," for as long as he had stood. Then he prostrated and said: "Subhana Rabbiyal-'Ala for as long as he had stood And he prayed no more than four rak'ahs when Bilal came for Al-Ghadah.

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَرَكَعَ فَقَالَ فِي رُكُوعِهِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ مِثْلَ مَا كَانَ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ يَقُولُ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي مِثْلَ مَا كَانَ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى مِثْلَ مَا كَانَ قَائِمًا فَمَا صَلَّى إِلاَّ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ حَتَّى جَاءَ بِلاَلٌ إِلَى الْغَدَاةِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عِنْدِي مُرْسَلٌ وَطَلْحَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ لاَ أَعْلَمُهُ سَمِعَ مِنْ حُذَيْفَةَ شَيْئًا وَغَيْرُ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ

“When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to start I’tikaf, he would pray the Subh, then he would enter the place where he wanted to observe I’tikaf. He wanted to spend the last ten days of Ramadan in I’tikaf, so he ordered that a tent be set up for him.” Then ‘Aishah ordered that a tent be set up for her, and Hafash ordered that a tent be set up for her. When Zainab saw their two tents, she also ordered that a tent be set up for her. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that, he said: “It is righteousness that you seek?” Then he did not observe I’tikaf during Ramadan, and he observed I’tikaf during ten days of Shawwal.

دَارَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَوْرَةً قَالَ أَعِنْدَكِ شَىْءٌ قَالَتْ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي شَىْءٌ قَالَ فَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ دَارَ عَلَىَّ الثَّانِيَةَ وَقَدْ أُهْدِيَ لَنَا حَيْسٌ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ فَأَكَلَ فَعَجِبْتُ مِنْهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دَخَلْتَ عَلَىَّ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ ثُمَّ أَكَلْتَ حَيْسًا قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّمَا مَنْزِلَةُ مَنْ صَامَ فِي غَيْرِ رَمَضَانَ أَوْ غَيْرِ قَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ أَوْ فِي التَّطَوُّعِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ رَجُلٍ أَخْرَجَ صَدَقَةَ مَالِهِ فَجَادَ مِنْهَا بِمَا شَاءَ فَأَمْضَاهُ وَبَخِلَ مِنْهَا بِمَا بَقِيَ فَأَمْسَكَهُ

"The Messenger of Allah passed by my door. He said: 'Do you have anything (to eat)?' I said 'I do not have anything.' He said 'Then I am fasting.' Then he passed by my door a second time and we had been given some Hais. I brought it to him and he ate, and I was surprised. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you were fasting, then you ate Hais.' He said: 'Yes, O 'Aishah. The one who observes a fast other than in Ramadan, or making up a missed Ramadan, fast, is like a man who allocated some of is wealth to give in charity; if he wishes he may go ahead and give it, and if he wishes he may keep it."' دَارَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ دَوْرَةً فَقَالَ «أَعِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ؟» قُلْتُ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي شَيْءٌ قَالَ «فَأَنَا صَائِمٌ» قَالَتْ ثُمَّ دَارَ عَلَيَّ الثَّانِيَةَ وَقَدْ أُهْدِي لَنَا حَيْسٌ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ فَأَكَلَ فَعَجِبْتُ مِنْهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَخَلْتَ عَلَيَّ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ ثُمَّ أَكَلْتَ حَيْسًا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّهَا مَنْزِلَةُ مَنْ صَامَ فِي غَيْرِ رَمَضَانَ وَفِي غَيْرِ قَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ أَوْ فِي التَّطَوُّعِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ رَجُلٍ أَخْرَجَ صَدَقَةَ مَالِهِ فَجَادَ مِنْهَا بِمَا شَاءَ فَأَمْضَاهُ وَبَخِلَ بِمَا بَقِيَ فَأَمْسَكَهُ»

"Umar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about a person who fasted for an entire lifetime?' He said: 'He neither fasted nor broke his fast for one day?' He said: 'Can anyone do that?' He said: 'What about a person who fasted for one day?' He said: 'That is the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him.' He said: 'What about a person who fasted for one day, and broke his fast for two days?' he said: 'I wish that I could do that.' Then he said: 'Three days of each month, and from Ramadan to Ramadan, this is fasting for an entire lifetime."' 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted."

عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ الدَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ قَالَ لاَ صَامَ وَلاَ أَفْطَرَ أَوْ لَمْ يَصُمْ وَلَمْ يُفْطِرْ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمَيْنِ وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا قَالَ أَوَيُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ أَحَدٌ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا قَالَ ذَلِكَ صَوْمُ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمَيْنِ قَالَ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي أُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ثَلاَثٌ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَرَمَضَانُ إِلَى رَمَضَانَ هَذَا صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ كُلِّهِ
