A person entered the mosque while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Khutba on a Friday. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Have you prayed?" The man replied in the negative. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Get up and pray two rakʿat."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ يَا فُلاَنُ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ قُمْ فَارْكَعْ

[AI] A man entered on Friday while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon, and he said: "Have you prayed?" He said, "No." He said: "Then pray two rak'ahs."

دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ: «أَصَلَّيْتَ؟» قَالَ: لاَ. قَالَ: «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.»

So and so, have you prayed (two rak'ahs)? He said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then stand and pray.

بَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَصَلَّيْتَ يَا فُلاَنُ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ قُمْ فَارْكَعْ

Have you observed prayer? He said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Stand and offer the two rak'ahs. According to Qutaiba, the words are:" He said: Offer two rak'ahs."

سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

A man came (to the mosque) while the Prophet ﷺ was giving the (Friday) sermon. He asked: Did you pray, so-and-so? He replied: No. He ﷺ said: Stand and pray.

أَنَّ رَجُلاً جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ يَا فُلاَنُ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ قُمْ فَارْكَعْ

Sulaik al-Ghatafani came (to the mosque) while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was giving the (Friday) sermon. He asked him: Did you pray something ? He said: No. He said: Offer two rak'ahs and make them short.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالاَ جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَصَلَّيْتَ شَيْئًا قَالَ لاَ قَالَ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا

"The Prophet was delivering a Khutbah on Friday when a man came. The Prophet said: 'Have you prayed?' He said no. So he said: 'Then stand and pray.'" Abu Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih [It is the most correct thing about this topic.]

“Sulaik Ghatafani entered the mosque when the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon. He said: ‘Have you prayed?’ He said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then perform two Rak’ah.’”

دَخَلَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ الْمَسْجِدَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ؟ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَمَّا عَمْرٌو فَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ سُلَيْكًا

“A man entered the mosque when the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon. He said: ‘Have you prayed?’ He said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then pray two Rak’ah.’”

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّيْتَ؟ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

“Sulaik Al-Ghatafani came while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: ‘Did you perform two Rak’ah before you came?’ He said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then perform two Rak’ah, but make them brief.’”

عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالاَ جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَصَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَجِيءَ؟ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا

[AI] I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "A man entered the mosque on Friday, while the Prophet ﷺ was giving a sermon. The man was asked, 'Did you pray?' He replied, 'No.' The Prophet then said, 'Pray two units of prayer (Rak'ah).' Abu Muhammad said, 'I also say the same.'"

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ «أَصَلَّيْتَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد «أَقُولُ بِهِ»

[AI] Jabir heard a man enter on Friday while the Prophet ﷺ was giving a sermon, so the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did you pray?" He replied, "No." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Pray two units (rak'ahs)."

دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ «صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ»

[AI] Sulayk al-Ghatafani came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon. The Prophet ﷺ told him, "Pray two rak'ahs and make them brief."

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا»

أَنَّ سُلَيْكًا جَاءَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَلَسَ «فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا»

[AI] A man entered the mosque and the Prophet ﷺ stood on the pulpit to deliver the sermon on Friday. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did you pray?" The man replied, "No." The Prophet ﷺ then said to him, "Then pray two units (rak'ahs)."

دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَائِمًا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَصَلَّيْتَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] A man came on Friday and the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was giving a sermon. He asked, "Did you pray?" The man replied, "No". The Messenger of Allah then said, "Stand up and perform the prayer."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ صَلَّيْتَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «قُمْ فَارْكَعْ»

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ «صَلَّيْتَ يَا فُلَانُ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «قُمْ فَارْكَعْ»

[AI] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah saying Sulayk ibn Amr al-Ghatafani entered the mosque and the Prophet ﷺ was delivering the sermon from the pulpit while standing on Friday. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Did you pray?" He replied, "No." He said, "Then pray two rak'ahs."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ سُلَيْكُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْغَطَفَانِيُّ الْمَسْجِدَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَائِمًا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَصَلَّيْتَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] Sulayk al-Ghatafani came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon from the pulpit. He ordered him to pray two rak'ahs and to make them long.

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ «فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا»

He said, "No." He (the Messenger of Allah) said, "Then pray two units (of voluntary prayer) in which you seek exoneration in them."

أَنَّهُ جَاءَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرَكَعْتَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا»

So and so, have you prayed (two rak'ahs)? He said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then stand and pray. (Using translation from Muslim 875a)
