Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "We do not give a bad example. The one who takes back his gift is like the dog who returns to his own vomit."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَرْجِعُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "One who takes back his gift (which he has already given) is like a dog that swallows its vomit."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَقِيءُ ثُمَّ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "He who takes back his present is like him who swallows his vomit."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The bad example is not for us. He who takes back his present is like a dog that swallows back its vomit."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ الَّذِي يَعُودُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَرْجِعُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who takes back his gift is like a dog swallowing its own vomit, and we (believers) should not act according to this bad example."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'It does not befit us to leave bad examples. The one who takes back his gift is like the dog which goes back to its vomit.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3699)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السُّوءِ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Umra (life-long gift) is permissible for the one to whom it is given, and Ruqba is permissible to the one to whom it is given, and the one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3710)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعُمْرَى لِمَنْ أُعْمِرَهَا وَالرُّقْبَى لِمَنْ أُرْقِبَهَا وَالْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said: "Whoever builds my lifetime, it is a reward for the one who built it, and whoever waits for my retribution, it is a reward for the one who waited for it, and whoever gives a gift and then returns to it, he is like one who vomits and then goes back to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أُعْمِرَ عُمْرَى فَهِيَ لِمَنْ أُعْمِرَهَا جَائِزَةٌ وَمَنْ أَرْقَبَ رُقْبَى فَهِيَ لِمَنْ أُرْقِبَهَا جَائِزَةٌ وَمَنْ وَهَبَهِبَةً ثُمَّ عَادَ فِيهَا فَهُوَ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

“The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2385)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ as saying: One who seeks to take back a gift like the one who returns to it vomit. Hammam said: "And Qatadah said: We regard vomiting as unlawful." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3538)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَلا أَعْلَمُ الْقَيْءَ إِلا حَرَامًا

"The one who takes back his gift, is like the dog which vomits then goes back to its vomit." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3701)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَقِيءُ ثُمَّ يَعُودُ فِيهِ

“The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2385)

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

"The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3696)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

“The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2385)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

“The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2385)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'No one should take back his gift except a father (taking back a gift) from his son. The one who takes back his gift is like one who goes back to his vomit.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3689)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الرَّاجِعُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَرْجِعُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "The example of the one who returns to his fear is like the example of a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَعُودُ فِيهِبَتِهِ مَثَلُ الْكَلْبِ إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ثُمَّ عَادَ فِي قَيْئِهِ

"The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3696)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

[AI] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "Al-Umra (a type of minor pilgrimage) is for the one who performs it, and ar-Ruqba (a type of major pilgrimage) is not for me to oversee."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْعُمْرَى لِمَنْ أَعْمَرَهَا وَالرُّقْبَى لَمْ أَرْقَبَهَا»

قَالَ النَّبِيّ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ as saying: One who seeks to take back a gift like the one who returns to it vomit. Hammam said: "And Qatadah said: We regard vomiting as unlawful." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3538)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The one who returns to his gift is like a dog returning to its vomit."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

[AI] "From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: 'The example of the one who reverts to his gift is like the example of a dog that vomits and then returns to its vomit.'"

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَرْجِعُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ يَقِيءُ ثُمَّ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

“The one who takes back his gift is like the dog that goes back to its vomit.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2386)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "We do not have a similitude for [the effect of] a gift that is returned like the effect of vomit when it is returned."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'No one should take back his gift except a father (taking back a gift) from his son. The one who takes back his gift is like one who goes back to his vomit.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3689)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَرْجِعُ أَحَدٌ فِي هِبَتِهِ إِلَّا وَالِدٌ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ وَالْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ لَيْسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ

"الرُّقْبَى لمَن أُرْقِبَها، وَالعُمْرَى لمَنْ أُعْمِرهَا".

"العائِدُ في هِبَتِهِ كالعائِد في قَيئِهِ إِلَّا الوَالِدَ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ ".

"العَائِدُ في هِبتَهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيئِهِ ".

"العُمْرَى جَائِزَةٌ لمن أُعْمِرَهَا، والرُّقْبَى جَائِزَةٌ أُرْقِبَهَا، والعَائِدُ في هِبَتِه كالعائد في قَيئِه ".

"لَيسَ لَنَا مَثَلُ السَّوءِ، الَّذي يَعُودُ في هِبَتِه، كَالْكَلْبِ رَجَعَ في قَيئِه".

"لا يَرْجعُ أَحَدٌ فِي هِبَتِهِ، إِلا الْوَالِدُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ، وَالْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيئهِ".

"عن الزُّهرى، عن سَعيدِ بنِ المسيّبِ، عن أبِى بكرٍ الصديقِ، قالَ: قالَ رسولُ ﷺ لَيْسَ لنا مثلُ السوء؛ العائدِ في هِبَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِى قَيْئِهِ".
