1. Introduction (7/8)
[Machine] "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, and may His blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad and all his family. This book is a compilation of what has been narrated to us from those who narrated from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, from both men and women, according to the order of the Arabic alphabet, starting with the letter "alif" (A), because no one preceded them. I have mentioned one, two, three, or more narrations from each of them, according to the abundance or scarcity of their narrations. I have excluded those who have very few narrations, and I have mentioned all the narrations of those who did not have any narration from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, but had mention from the Companions who were martyred with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, or had passed away earlier, mentioning them from the books of battles and the history of the scholars. I mentioned them to indicate the number of narrators from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and mention their Companions. And I will compile their Musnad (collections of hadith) through thorough investigation in the order of tribes, with the help and strength of Allah, if Allah wills."

"I heard Sa'eed bin Musayyab say: 'Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas said: 'No one else became Muslim on the same day as I did; for seven days I was one-third of Islam.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 132)
[Machine] "Saad was the last of the emigrants to pass away."
[Machine] "My father passed away when he was 83 years old, and he died 10 miles away from the city. He was carried on the shoulders of men to the city, and Marwan was the governor at that time. He embraced Islam when he was 19 years old."
[Machine] I heard Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numair say, "Saad, Marwan, the governor of the city, passed away, so he prayed on him, and he died in the year fifty-five."
[Machine] Saad died in his palace in the outskirts of the city, about ten miles away. He was carried on the backs of men to the city. It is said that he passed away at the age of seventy-two.
[Machine] And he said, "I embraced Islam when I was nineteen years old, and he passed away at the age of fifty-five."
[Machine] Saad ibn Abi Waqqas passed away during the time of Muawiyah, after his first pilgrimage, at the age of eighty-three.
[Machine] "Saad was among the last of the immigrants to pass away."
[Machine] Ibn Mas'ud had a dispute with Sa'd over some money. Ibn Mas'ud told Sa'd to give back the money he had received from him, but Sa'd replied, "Woe to you! What has the money to do with me?" Ibn Mas'ud insisted, "Give back the money you have received from me." Sa'd replied, "By Allah, I see that you are seeking to harm me. Are you not Ibn Mas'ud and a servant from the Banu Hudhayl tribe?" Ibn Mas'ud replied, "Indeed, by Allah, I am Ibn Mas'ud and you are indeed Ibn Hammad." Then Hashim ibn 'Utbah said to both of them, "You two are companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and people are watching you." Sa'd threw away the stick he was holding and raised his hand, saying, "O Allah, Lord of the heavens!" Abdullah said to him, "Speak a few words and do not curse." Sa'd remained silent for a while and then said, "By Allah, if it were not for the fear of Allah, I would invoke a supplication against you that would not miss you."
[Machine] While Saad was walking, he came across a man who was insulting Ali, Talha, and Zubair. Saad said to him, "You are insulting a people who have been blessed by Allah before. By Allah, stop insulting them, or I will call upon Allah to curse you." The man replied, "You threaten me as if you are a prophet." Saad said, "O Allah, this man insults a people who have been blessed by You. Make him face the consequences today." Then, a calamity fell upon him and the people released their anger on him. I saw people following Saad and saying, "Allah has answered your prayer, O Abu Ishaq."
[Machine] The people of Kufa complained to Umar about Sa'd. So he sent men to ask about him in Kufa. They would not visit any mosque of the people of Kufa except that they praised him and said good things about him, until they came to a mosque of the Bani Abess. A man named Abu Sa'dah stood up and said, "When you complained to us, he used to go out openly, not being discreet, not being fair in judgment, and not dividing with equality." Sa'd said, "O Allah, if he is lying, then blind him, make him poor, and expose him to trials." Abdul Malik said, "I saw him harassing slave girls in bars. When they asked him how he was, he would say, 'I am a blind, poor, and afflicted elderly man. I have received the supplication of Sa'd.'" Abu Al-Qasim said, "Abu Sa'dah is the grandfather of Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah."
[Machine] It is said that she wore a belt and had on her a new shirt, but the wind blew it off. Umar took hold of it and Saad came to stop him, but Umar handed it to Saad. Saad started to curse Umar, but Umar handed him the shirt and said, "Judge and forgive."
[Machine] "To his son, when death approached him, he said, 'O my son, surely you will not find anyone more sincere to you than me, if you intend to pray, perfect your ablution, then pray a prayer that you do not see yourself praying afterwards. And beware of greed, for it is ever present poverty. And embrace despair, for it is wealth. And beware of making excuses for your actions and speech. Do what appears to you as right."
"I heard Sa'eed bin Musayyab say: 'Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas said: 'No one else became Muslim on the same day as I did; for seven days I was one-third of Islam.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 132)
"I heard Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas say: 'I am the first of the Arabs to shoot an arrow in the cause of Allah.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 131)
(Sa'd), shoot an arrow, (Sa'd), may my mother and father be taken as ransom for you. I drew an arrow and I shot a featherless arrow at him aiming his side that lie fell down and his private parts were exposed. Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed that I saw his front teeth. (Using translation from Muslim 2412c)
[Machine] "Bury me in it, for I met the polytheists there on the day of Badr, and I have kept it hidden for this reason."
[Machine] "My father, when he prayed in the mosque, would perform the bowing and prostration correctly and fully. But when he prayed at home, he would prolong the bowing, prostration, and entire prayer." I said, "O my father, when you pray in the mosque, you do it correctly, and when you pray at home, you prolong it." He said, "O my son, we are leaders who are to be followed."
[Machine] On the day of Badr, I was standing beside the Prophet ﷺ, throwing arrows in front of him. I would place the arrow in the liver of the bow and say, "O Allah, shake their feet and frighten their hearts." The Prophet ﷺ would then say, "O Allah, answer the supplication of Sa'd."
[Machine] "Regarding this government, you have disobeyed me." So, a young man from the descendants of Adam stood up and said, "By God, you did not prohibit us, but you commanded us and caused our destruction. When there was something you disliked in it, you absolved yourself and blamed us. Ali then turned to the people and said, "By God, this talk has made you ugly in the sight of God. By God, you were idle when the community was functioning, but when discord emerged, you became the leaders of the infidels." Then, he turned to the people and said, "Salman bin Malik and Abdullah bin Umar have a position with God. By God, if it was a sin, it is a small and forgivable one, and if it was a good deed, it is great and praiseworthy."

[Machine] When Umar was injured, he began advising the people of Shura, saying, "If Saad is able, then let him be chosen. If not, then seek help from the one whom I have appointed as my successor, for I did not remove him due to incapacity or betrayal."
[Machine] "And he said, 'Sit here for the people,' so Saad apologized to him and swore not to utter the word that reached the Commander of the Faithful."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Killing a Muslim is disbelief, insulting him is wickedness, and it is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three days."
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Verbally abusing a Muslim is immorality and fighting him is Kufr (disbelief).'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 69)

“A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, my father used to uphold the ties of kinship, and so and so forth, where is he?’ He said: ‘In the Fire.’ It was as if he found that difficult to bear. Then he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah. Where is your father?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whenever you pass by the grave of an idolater, give him the tidings of Hell-fire.’ The Bedouin later became Muslim, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me a difficult task. I never passed the grave of an idolater but I gave him the tidings of Hell-fire.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1573)

[Machine] Three verses from the Book of Allah were revealed about me. The prohibition of alcohol was revealed, and I argued with a man who opposed me. I got angry and cursed him, so Allah revealed the verse: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling... Are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it... Will you not desist?" (Quran 5:90). And the verse "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness" (Quran 31:14) was revealed about me until the end of the verse. And the verse "O you who have believed, when you converse privately with the Messenger, present before your private conversation a charity" (Quran 58:12) was revealed. I presented a sheath of a tree as charity, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, you are a generous man." Then the other verse was revealed: "Do you fear to present before your consultation charities?" (Quran 58:13), the whole verse.
