[Machine] "A man from the people of Syria, what is holding you back?" he said, "Until Sa'id ibn Zaid comes and pledges allegiance, for he is the noblest of the people of this city. When he pledges allegiance, the people pledge allegiance."  

الطبراني:٣٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ قَالَ بَعَثَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لِيُبَايِعَ لِابْنِهِ يَزِيدَ فَقَالَ

رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ مَا يَحْبِسُكَ؟ قَالَ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فَيُبَايِعَ فَإِنَّهُ أَنْبَلُ أَهْلِ الْبَلَدِ فَإِذَا بَايَعَ النَّاسَ بَايَعَ النَّاسُ
