1. Book of Purification
[Machine] A woman from the Ansar asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about menstruation. He said, "Take your water and your sidr (a type of tree) and then perform ghusl (ritual bath) and cleanse yourself. Then, pour water onto your head until the water reaches the roots of your hair. Then, take a piece of cotton or cloth soaked in musk and place it in your vagina." The woman asked, "How should I use it, O Messenger of Allah?" He remained silent. She asked again, "How should I use it, O Messenger of Allah?" He remained silent. Aisha said, "Take a piece of cotton or cloth soaked in musk and trace it along the traces of blood, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ can hear, and he did not object to her action."
"Fatimah bint Abi Hubaish came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman who bleeds continuously and never becomes pure, should I give up the prayer?' He said: 'No, rather that is a vein and it is not menstruation. When the time of your period comes, leave off the prayer, and when it is over, take a bath and wash the blood from yourself and perform the prayer." This is the Hadith of Waki'. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 621)
[Machine] It is reported that the daughter of Ja'hsh informed the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that she used to have irregular bleeding during her period. The Prophet ﷺ instructed her to perform a ritual purification (ghusl) for every prayer. If she noticed that blood was entering her vagina while inside the mosque, and she found water inside the mosque, she should submerge herself in it and then exit. If the blood was on top of the water, she should pray without repeating the purification.
[Machine] "It is only Fulanah. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered her to perform ablution before every prayer. When that became difficult for her, he ordered her to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers with one ablution, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers with one ablution, and to perform ablution for Fajr prayer." Abu Muhammad said, "People say she was Sahlah bint Suhail." Yazid ibn Harun said, "She was Suhailah bint Sahl."
A woman had a prolonged flow of blood in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She was commanded to advance the afternoon prayer and delay the noon prayer, and to take a bath for them only once; and to delay the sunset prayer and advance the night prayer and to take a bath only once for them; and to take a bath separately for the dawn prayer. I (Shu'bah) asked AbdurRahman: (Is it) from the Prophet ﷺ? I do not report to you anything except from the Prophet ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 294)
'Aishah the wife of the Prophet said: "Umm Habibah Jahsh experienced prolonged non-menstrual bleeding for seven years when she was married to 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf. She complained about that to the Prophet and the Prophet said: 'That is not menstruation, rather it is a vein, so when the time of your period comes, leave the prayer, and when it is over, take a bath and perform prayer.'" 'Aishah said: "She used to bathe for every prayer and then perform the prayer. She used to sit in a washtub belonging to her sister Zainab bint Jahsh and the blood would turn the water red." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 626)
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who experiences istihadah (continuous abnormal bleeding), should I stop praying?" He said: "No, this is just a vein and not menstruation. So when your period comes, then leave prayers. And when the period has ended, wash away the blood from yourself, perform ablution, and pray." Hisham said: "My father used to say that she should first perform the initial washing, and then whatever comes after that, she is considered pure and can pray."
In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ there was a woman who had an issue of blood. So Umm Salamah asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to give a decision about her. He said: She should consider the number of nights and days during which she used to menstruate each month before she was afflicted with this trouble and abandon prayer during that period each month. When those days and nights are over, she should take a bath, tie a cloth over her private parts and pray. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 274)
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, blood has overwhelmed me." He said, "Take a bath and pray."
[Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, heard Umm Habiba bint Jahsh say that she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while she was experiencing istihada (non-menstrual bleeding) for seven years. She complained about it to him and sought his advice. He told her, "This is not menstruation; rather, it is a vein. So, perform ablution and then pray." Aisha said that Umm Habiba used to perform ablution for every prayer and pray. She would sit in a place of prayer, and the water mixed with blood would rise to her ankle, and then she would pray.
[Machine] That Um Habibah, daughter of Jahsh, was in her menstrual period during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed her to wash for every prayer. If she saw that blood was submerged in the vessel, even if it was filled with water, she would perform her prayer.
[Machine] It was Badiyah, the daughter of Ghailan Althagafi.
[Machine] "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded her to perform ablution (washing) before every prayer. When that became difficult for her, he ordered her to combine the Dhuhr (noon) and Asr (afternoon) prayers in one ablution, and the Maghrib (evening) and Isha (night) prayers in one ablution. And she would perform ablution for Fajr (dawn) prayer."
[Machine] And some of them said, "She is Bint Suhail, the easy one."
[Machine] Oh nephew, no one is more knowledgeable about this than me. "If the menstrual cycle begins, let her abandon prayer. And when it ends, let her perform the ritual ablution and pray."
[Machine] "Yes, even if you catch him with ease, enter then seek forgiveness, and then enter."
[Machine] "She is waiting to read it, which she used to leave prayer in it before. So when it is the day of her purity, in which she used to purify herself, she washed and then performed ablution for every prayer and prayed."
[Machine] About Aisha in her menstruation period, she used to wait for her days in which she would leave out prayer. Then, when her purification day arrived, in which she would perform Ghusl (ritual bath), she would wash herself and perform ablution for every prayer and then pray.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A woman experiencing menstruation should refrain from praying for the duration of her period every month. And when her period ends, she should cleanse herself, pray, fast, and perform ablution for each prayer."
[Machine] Regarding menstruation, if a woman knows the days of her period and then gets divorced but the bleeding continues, she should count the length of her period as three menstrual cycles. When it comes to prayer, if the time of menstruation falls within each month, she should refrain from praying.
[Machine] I said to Qatadah, "There was a woman whose menstrual period was known, but it increased by five days, or four days, or three days. He (Qatadah) said, 'She should pray.' I asked, 'What about two days?' He (Qatadah) said, 'That is part of her menstrual period.' And I asked Ibn Sireen, and he said, 'Women are more knowledgeable about that.'"
[Machine] About women, you see blood during their pure days. He (meaning Hasan) said: "I see that she should wash herself and pray."
[Machine] She should wait until the time of her menstruation comes and then she should abstain from prayer. After that, she should purify herself and perform the prayer. When the time of her menstruation comes, she should once again abstain from prayer and then purify herself. Indeed, this is from Satan who wants to cause harm to her.
the Prophet said about the Mustahadah that she should: "Leave the Salat for the days of her period which she menstruates in, then perform Ghusl, and perform Wudu for every Salat, and observe Saum and perform Salat." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 126)
[Machine] "The woman experiencing istihadah sits for the duration of her menstrual bleeding, then she takes a single ritual bath and performs ablution for each prayer."
[Machine] As for what saw blood from a sea creature, then do not perform prayer. But when it sees purity, even if just for an hour during the day, then take a bath and perform prayer.
[Machine] "If you see menstrual blood, do not pray. But if you see purity, then cleanse yourself and pray."
[Machine] "If you see foolish blood, then hold on to the days of your readings."
[Machine] The woman experiencing istihadah sits for the days of her menstrual period, then she performs one washing for both the Dhuhr and Asr prayers. She delays Maghrib and hastens Isha, and this occurs during the time of Isha. For the Fajr prayer, she performs one washing. She does not fast, and her husband does not approach her, and she does not touch the Quran.
[Machine] Ibn Abbas used to say about menstruation: "You should perform one washing for both Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and another washing for Maghrib and Isha prayers." He also used to say, "You delay Dhuhr prayer and perform it closer to Asr, and you delay Maghrib prayer and perform it closer to Isha."
[Machine] "About a woman who experiences irregular bleeding during her menstrual period, when her period ends, she should perform a complete ablution (wudu) when it is time for Asr prayer. Then she should take a cloth and seek forgiveness with it. After that, she should pray both Dhuhr and Asr prayers together. Then she should do the same and pray Maghrib and Isha prayers together. Finally, she should do the same and pray Fajr prayer."
[Machine] About Ata, Sa'id, and 'Ikrimah, they said regarding the woman in a state of postnatal bleeding, "She performs ablution every day for the Fajr and 'Asr prayers and prays them. Then she performs ablution for Maghrib and Isha prayers and prays them. And she performs ablution for the morning prayer."
[Machine] "The woman experiencing istihadah (irregular uterine bleeding) washes herself, then she combines (her prayers) between Dhuhr and Asr. If she sees anything (of blood), she washes (again) and combines (her prayers) between Maghrib and Isha."
