Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw some expectoration on the wall of the mosque; he took gravel and scraped it off and said, "If anyone of you wanted to spit, he should neither spit in front of him nor on his right but could spit either on his left or under his left foot."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي حَائِطِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَنَاوَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَصَاةً فَحَتَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَنَخَّمْ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ وَلاَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

The Prophet ﷺ saw sputum on (the wall of) the mosque in the direction of the Qibla and scraped it off with gravel. Then he forbade Spitting in front or on the right, but allowed it on one's left or under one's left foot.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَبْصَرَ نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِحَصَاةٍ ثُمَّ نَهَى أَنْ يَبْزُقَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَمِعَ حُمَيْدًا عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ نَحْوَهُ

Prophet said, "If anyone of you stands for prayer, he should not spit in front of him because in prayer he is speaking in private to Allah and he should not spit on his right as there is an angel, but he can spit either on his left or under his left foot and bury it (i.e. expectoration).

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَلاَ يَبْصُقْ أَمَامَهُ فَإِنَّمَا يُنَاجِي اللَّهَ مَا دَامَ فِي مُصَلاَّهُ وَلاَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ مَلَكًا وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ فَيَدْفِنُهَا

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ saw sputum sticking to the Qibla of the mosque. He scratched it off with a pebble and then forbade spitting on the right side or in front, but (it is permissible) to spit on the left side or under the left foot.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِحَصَاةٍ ثُمَّ نَهَى أَنْ يَبْزُقَ الرَّجُلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ أَمَامَهُ وَلَكِنْ يَبْزُقُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

"Let him spit to his left or beneath his left foot."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِحَصَاةٍ وَنَهَى أَنْ يَبْصُقَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَقَالَ يَبْصُقُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

The Messenger of Allah saw some sputum on the wall of the mosque. He picked up a stone and scraped it off, then he said, "If anyone of you needs to spit, he should not spit in fro not of him or to his right; let him spit to his right; let him spit to his left or under his left foot."

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّهُمَا أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي جِدَارِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَكَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ وَلاَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْزُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي جِدَارِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَنَاوَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَصَاةً وَحَتَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "When one of you prays, let him not spit towards the qiblah (direction of prayer), for indeed, the qiblah is the direction of mercy, nor to his right, but rather to his left or beneath his left foot."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ تُجَاهَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَإِنَّ تُجَاهَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] The Prophet saw impurity in the direction of the mosque, so he cleared it with a piece of wood or something similar. Then he said, "When one of you stands up for prayer, he should not spit in front of him or to his right, for his right is the angel's place of honor. Rather, he should spit to his left or under his left foot."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَتَّهَا بِمَرْوَةٍ أَوْ بِشَيْءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ أَمَامَهُ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ مَلَكًا وَلَكِنْلِيَتَنَخَّمْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

"Let him spit to his left or beneath his left foot." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 725)

أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي حَائِطِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَنَاوَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَصَاةً فَحَتَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمْ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ saw some phlegm on the wall of the mosque, so he picked up a stone and spat on it. Then he said, 'If any one of you feels the need to blow their nose, they should not blow it in front of their face or to the right, but should spit it to the left or under their left foot.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى فِي جِدَارِالْمَسْجِدِ نُخَامَةً فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَتَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا انَتَخَمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] He heard Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a phlegm in the direction of the Qibla, so he took a stone and spat on it, then he said: "No one should clear his throat towards the Qibla, nor to his right, and let him spit to his left or under his left foot."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولَانِ رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نُخَامَةً فِي الْقِبْلَةِ فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَكَّهَا بِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا يَتَنَخَّمْ أَحَدٌ فِي الْقِبْلَةِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "When one of you spits, he should not spit in front of him or to his right, but instead should spit to his left or under his left foot."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا بَزَقَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْزُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْزُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you spits, let him not spit in front of him or to his right, but let him spit to his left or beneath his left foot."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا بَزَقَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْزُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْزُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, he should not spit in front of him or to his right; he should only spit to his left or underneath his left foot."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْصُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَقَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "When one of you spits, he should not spit to his right or in front of him, but should spit to his left or under his foot."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا بَصَقَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When one of you is praying, let him not spit in front of him or to his right, but he may spit to his left or under his feet."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَبْصُقْ أَمَامَهُ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمَيْهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When any one of you prays, he should not spit in front of him or to his right, but he should spit to his left or under his left foot."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَبْصُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى»

[AI] He heard Abu Huraira and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri saying: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw nasal discharge in the direction of the qibla (the direction of prayer), so he took a pebble, rubbed it and then said, 'None of you should blow his nose in the direction of the qibla, nor should he blow it with his right hand. He should blow his nose with his left hand or below his left foot.'"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولَانِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَى فِي الْقِبْلَةِ نُخَامَةً فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَكَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْقِبْلَةِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا بَصَقَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَا يَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ

أَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أحدكم في الصلاة فلا يبصق أَمَامَهُ ولاَ عَن يَمِينِهِ وَلكن عَن يَسَارِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When a man stands with the intention of saying prayer, or if any of you says prayer, he should not spit before him, nor at his right side; but he should do so at his left side, if there is a place for it; or he should spit under his left foot and then rub it off. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا يَبْزُقَنَّ أَمَامَهُ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ إِنْ كَانَ فَارِغًا أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى»

"Let him spit to his left or beneath his left foot." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 725)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِحَصَاةٍ ثُمَّ نَهَى أَنْ يَبْزُقَ الرَّجُلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ أَمَامَهُ وَلَكِنْ يَبْزُقُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى»

[AI] Hurayrah and Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri reported that they saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spit on a flaw in the direction of the qibla (the direction of prayer). Then he said, "One of you should not spit in the direction of the qibla or to his right, but should spit to his left or under his left foot."

هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ؓ يَقُولَانِ رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نُخَامَةً فِي الْقِبْلَةِ فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَكَّهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا يَتَنَخَّمُ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْقِبْلَةِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى

"إذَا تنخَّمَ أحدُكمْ فلا يتنخَّمنَّ قِبَل وَجْهِه ولا عنْ يمينه وليبصُقْ عن يساره أو تحت قدمِه اليُسْرى".

"إذَا صلَّى أحدُكُمْ فلا يَبْصُقْ بين يديه ولا عَنْ يمينه، ولْيبصقْ عن يسارهِ أو تحتَ قَدَمِه".

"When any one of you prays, let him not spit in front of him or to his right, rather let him spit to his left or beneath his feet." Then the Prophet ﷺ spat like this on his garment and rubbed it. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 309)

"إذَا صلَّى إحدُكم فلا يَبزُقْ بين يديه، ولا عَنْ يمينِه، ولكنْ عن يسارهِ أوْ تحتَ قدَمِهِ".

"إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً في قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِمَدَرةٍ أَوْ بِشَىْءٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِذَا قَامَ أَحدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ أمَامَهُ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، فَإِنَّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ مَلَكًا، وَلَكِنْ يَتَنَخَّمُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدمِهِ الْيُسْرَى".
