if a man becomes the client of any people without the permission of his patrons (i.e. those who have freed him), on him will be the curse of Allah, of angels and of all people; no obligatory or supererogatory worship will be accepted from him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5114)   

وَقَالَ مَنْ تَوَلَّى قَوْمًا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِ مَوَالِيهِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِوَالْمَلَائِكَةِ لَا يَقْبَلُ اللهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever changes the boundaries of the earth, upon him is the curse of Allah and His wrath on the Day of Resurrection. Allah will not accept any compensation or justice from him."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ غَيَّرَ تُخُومَ الْأَرْضِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَغَضَبُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يَقْبَلُ اللهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًا»  

"مَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيرَ مَوَالِيه فَعَلَيهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَغَضَبُهُ لَا يقبلُ اللهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًا".  

"مَنْ تَوَلَّى مَولَى قَوْمٍ بِغَيرِ إِذْنِهِم، أَو آوى مُحْدثًا فَعَلَيهِ غَضَبُ اللهِ، لَا يَقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًا".  

"مَنْ أَخَافَ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَة أَخَافَهُ اللهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيامَة، وَلَعَنَهُ اللهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيهِ، وَلَمْ يَقْبَلْ مِنْهُ صرْفًا ولا عَدْلًا".
