٦٣۔ كِتَابُ الْأَيْمَانِ

63.10 [Machine] What is said in his statement: I swear, or I have sworn.

٦٣۔١٠ بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أُقْسِمُ , أَوْ أَقْسَمْتُ

Messenger of Allah, I saw while I was sleeping during the night (this vision) that there was a canopy from which butter and honey were trickling and I also saw people collecting them in the palms of their hands, some more, some less, and I also saw a rope connecting the earth with the sky and I saw you catching hold of it and rising towards the heaven; then another person after you catching hold of it and rising towards (Heaven); then another person catching hold of it, but it was broken while it was rejoined for him and he also climbed up. Abu Bakr said: Messenger of Allah, may my father be sacrificed for you, by Allah, allow me to interpret it. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Well, give its interpretation. Thereupon Abu Bakr said: The canopy signifies the canopy of Islam and that what trickles out of it in the form of butter and honey is the Holy Qur'an and its sweetness and softness and what the people get hold of it in their palms implies major portion of the Qur'an or the small portion; and so far as the rope joining the sky with the earth is concerned, it is the Truth by which you stood (in the worldly life) and by which Allah would raise you (to Heaven). Then the person after you would take hold of it and he would also climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and climb up with the help of it. Then another person would take hold of it and it would be broken; then it would be rejoined for him and he would climb up with the help of it. Messenger of Allah, may my father be taken as a ransom for you, tell me whether I have interpreted it correctly or I have made an error. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You have interpreted a part of it correctly and you have erred in interpreting a part of it. Thereupon he said: Messenger of Allah, by Allah, tell me that part where I have committed an error. Thereupon he said: Don't take an oath. (Using translation from Muslim 2269a)

رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ اللَّيْلَةَ ظُلَّةً يَنْطِفُ مِنْهَا السَّمْنُ وَالْعَسَلُ فَأَرَى النَّاسَ يَتَكَفَّفُونَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ فَالْمُسْتَكْثِرُ وَالْمُسْتَقِلُّ وَأَرَى سَبَبًا وَاصِلًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَأَرَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخَذْتَ بِهِ فَعَلَوْتَ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِهِ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَعَلَا ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِهِ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَعَلَا ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِهِ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَانْقَطَعَ بِهِ ثُمَّ وُصِلَ لَهُ فَعَلَا قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي وَاللهِ لَتَدَعَنِّي فَلَأَعْبُرُهَا فَقَالَ اعْبُرْهَا فَقَالَ أَمَّا الظُّلَّةُ فَظُلَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ وَأَمَّا التَّنَطُّفُ مِنَ السَّمْنِ وَالْعَسَلِ فَهُوَ الْقُرْآنُ وَلِينُهُ وَحَلَاوَتُهُ الْمُسْتَكْثِرُ وَالْمُسْتَقِلُّ فَهُوَ الْمُسْتَكْثِرُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَالْمُسْتَقِلُّ مِنْهُ أَمَّا السَّبَبُ الْوَاصِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَهُوَ الْحَقُّ الَّذِي أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ تَأْخُذُ بِهِ فَيُعْلِيكَ اللهُ ثُمَّ يَأْخُذُ بِهِ بَعْدَكَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَيَعْلُو بِهِ ثُمَّ يَأْخُذُ به آخَرُ بَعْدَهُ فَيَعْلُو بِهِ ثُمَّ يَأْخُذُ بِهِ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ فَيُقْطَعُ بِهِ ثُمَّ يُوصَلُ فَيَعْلُو بِهِ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَتُحَدِّثَنِّي أَصَبْتُ أَمْ أَخْطَأْتُ؟ قَالَ أَصَبْتَ بَعْضًا وَأَخْطَأْتَ بَعْضًا قَالَ أَقْسَمْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَتُحَدِّثَنِّي بِالَّذِي أَخْطَأْتُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تُقْسِمْ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَحْيَانًا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَحْيَانًا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَكَمَا رَوَاهُ الرَّمَادِيُّ رَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الذُّهْلِيُّ وَفَيَّاضُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَزْهَرَ وَرَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ فَقَالَ كَانَ مَعْمَرٌ يَقُولُ مَرَّةً عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَمَرَّةً عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ وَرَوَاهُ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ فَقَالَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ وَرَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ فَوَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَتُخْبِرَنِّي بِالَّذِي أَخْطَأْتُ

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ الْبُخَارِيُّ تَابَعَهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ وَابْنُ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ

[Machine] "I swear by Allah, there is nothing until he says, 'I swear by Allah.' It has been narrated in this hadith that it is authentic except that it is weak with Marrah."  

البيهقي:١٩٨٨٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ نُجَيْدٍ أنبأ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ إِذَا قَالَ

أَقْسَمْتُ فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى يَقُولَ أَقْسَمْتُ بِاللهِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ فِي هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُسْنَدٌ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ ضَعِيفٌ بِمَرَّةٍ

[Machine] In his statement, he said, "I swear by Allah," and in his statement, he said, "I bear witness by Allah." This was narrated to me by Abu Abdullah as permission from Abu al-Walid from Abdullah ibn Shiyarawi, who said, Abu Abdullah (referring to Muhammad ibn Nasr) stated. Ishaaq mentioned it, and it was narrated from Al-Hasan al-Basri from his statement.  

البيهقي:١٩٨٨٧وَرَوَى إِسْحَاقُ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ يُونُسَ عَنْ رِشْدِينَ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ

فِي قَوْلِهِ أُقْسِمُ قَالَ لَا يَكُونُ يَمِينًا حَتَّى يَقُولَ أُقْسِمُ بِاللهِ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ أَشْهَدُ قَالَ لَا يَكُونُ يَمِينًا حَتَّى يَقُولَ أَشْهَدُ بِاللهِ وَهَذَا فِيمَا أَنْبَأَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ إِجَازَةً عَنْ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شِيَرَوَيْهِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ نَصْرٍ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ فَذَكَرَهُ وَرُوِيَ ذَلِكَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ الْبَصْرِيِّ مِنْ قَوْلِهِ
