The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: How would you act when you are under the rulers who would delay the prayer beyond its prescribed time, or they would make prayer a dead thing as far as its proper time is concerned? I said: What do you command? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Observe the prayer at Its proper time, and if you can say it along with them do so, for it would be a superetogatory prayer for you. Khalaf (one of the narrators in the above hadith) has not mentioned" beyond their (prescribed) time".

وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلاَةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا أَوْ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلاَةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي قَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهَا مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّهَا لَكَ نَافِلَةٌ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَلَفٌ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me: 'How will you act, Abu Dharr, when you are under rulers who kill prayer or delay it (beyond its proper time) ?' I said: 'Messenger of Allah, what do you command me ?' He replied: 'Offer the prayer at its proper time, and if you say it along with them, say it, for it will be a supererogatory prayer for you.'"

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلاَةَ أَوْ قَالَ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلاَةَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي قَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهَا مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّهَا فَإِنَّهَا لَكَ نَافِلَةٌ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You may live to meet people who will be offering the prayer outside its (prayer) time. If you meet them, then offer the prayer on time, then pray with them and make that a voluntary prayer."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّكُمْ سَتُدْرِكُونَ أَقْوَامًا يُصَلُّونَ الصَّلاَةَ لِغَيْرِ وَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُمُوهُمْ فَصَلُّوا الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَصَلُّوا مَعَهُمْ وَاجْعَلُوهَا سُبْحَةً

“Offer prayer on time, and if you reached the Imam leading them in prayers (on time), then perform it with them, and you will be safe with your prayer, otherwise it will be voluntary for you.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ الإِمَامَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَقَدْ أَحْرَزْتَ صَلاَتَكَ وَإِلاَّ فَهِيَ نَافِلَةٌ لَكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Dhar, what would you do if you come across leaders who postpone the prayer from its time?" I asked, "What do you command me, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Pray the prayer in its proper time and make your prayer with them as optional prayers." Abu Muhammad ibn As-Samit, who is the son of the brother of Abu Dhar, said.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ إِذَا أَدْرَكْتَ أُمَرَاءَ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا؟» قُلْتُ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلْ صَلَاتَكَ مَعَهُمْ نَافِلَةً» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ابْنُ الصَّامِتِ هُوَ ابْنُ أَخِي أَبِي ذَرٍّ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "There will be leaders after me who will neglect the proper timing of the prayer. So, perform the prayer at its designated time, and make your prayer along with them as a supplication."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ مِنْ بَعْدِي أَئِمَّةٌ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ مَوَاقِيتِهَا فَصَلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً

[AI] My friend Khalil asked Abu Dharr, so he hit my thigh and said, "I asked my friend, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, so he said, 'Pray at its prescribed time. If you catch it, pray with them and do not say, 'I have already prayed, so I will not pray.'"

سَأَلَتُ خَلِيلِي أَبَا ذَرٍّ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي وَقَالَ سَأَلْتُ خَلِيلِي يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ صَلِّ لِمِيقَاتِهَافَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَقُولَنَّ إِنِّي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَلَا أُصَلِّي

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "O Abu Dharr, how would you be if you remain among people who delay the prayer beyond its time?" Abu Dharr answered, so he (the Prophet) said to me, "Pray the prayer at its appointed time. If you catch up with them and they have not prayed, then pray with them, and do not say 'I have already prayed' or 'I will not pray'."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي قَوْمٍ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهُمْ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَقُلْ إِنِّي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ وَلَا أُصَلِّي

[AI] To me, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Dharr, there will be rulers over you who will delay the prayer from its appointed time. If you happen to catch them, then pray the prayer at its time. And perhaps he mentioned during your journey, then approach them. If you find that they have already prayed, then you have indeed prayed. But if you find that they have not prayed, then you should pray with them, and it will be a voluntary prayer for you."

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ مَوَاقِيتِهَا فَإِنْ أَنْتَ أَدْرَكْتَهُمْ فَصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ فِي رَحْلِكَ ثُمَّ ائْتِهِمْ فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهُمْ قَدْ صَلَّوْا كُنْتَ قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهُمْ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا صَلَّيْتَ مَعَهُمْ فَتَكُونُ لَكَ نَافِلَةً

“There will be leaders who will be distracted by matters and they will delay the prayer until after its proper time. So make your prayer with them voluntary.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1257)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ أُمَرَاءُ يَشْغَلُهُمْ أَشْيَاءُ وَيُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا فَصَلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا ثُمَّ اجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ تَطَوُّعًا

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ said, "How would you be if you remained among people who delay the prayer beyond its time?" He said, "What should I do?" He said, "Pray the prayer on its exact time. If you catch up with them and they have not prayed, then pray with them and do not say, 'I have already prayed, so I will not pray.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي قَوْمٍ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا» قَالَ كَيْفَ أَفْعَلُ؟ قَالَ «صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِذَا أَدْرَكْتَهُمْ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَقُلْ إِنِّي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَلَا أُصَلِّي»

[AI] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it is narrated, "There will be rulers who will disregard the prayer, dragging it to the east of death. Whoever among you witnesses that, let them pray the prayer on time and let their prayer be with them as a companion."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ أُمَرَاءُ يُسِيئُونَ الصَّلَاةَ يَخْنُقُونَهَا إِلَى شَرَقِ الْمَوْتَى فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَلْيَجْعَلْ صَلَاتَهُ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً»

قَالَ سَأَلْتُ خَلِيلِي يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي وَقَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِمِيقَاتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ أَوْ أَدْرَكْتَهُمْ فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَقُلْ إِنِّي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَلَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَهُمْ

[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Dharr, there will be leaders upon you who will not establish the prayer. If you witness them, then pray the prayer at its time and join your prayer with theirs as Sunnah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا أَبَا ذَرًّ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُمُوهُمْ فَصَلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ نَافِلَةً»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "There will surely be leaders amongst you who will neglect the prayer at its prescribed times, so you must pray the prayer in its appointed time and perform your prayer along with them as an additional act of worship."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ مَوَاقِيتِهَا فَصَلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً»

[AI] "It shall be upon you leaders who will neglect the prayer, so whoever among you witnesses that, then let them offer it at its appointed time and let their prayer accompany them as a tasbih."

«إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا لِوَقْتِهَا وَلْيَجْعَلْ صَلَاتَهُ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, there will be rulers who will cause the prayer to be killed and strangled to the east of death. And indeed, it is a prayer that is worse than a donkey. And the prayer of one who does not find a place will be for those of you who are able to do so. So whoever among you lives during that time, let him establish the prayer at its proper time, and make your prayers along with them as a tasbih (glorification of Allah)."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّهَا سَيَكُونُ أُمَرَاءُ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيَخْنُقُونَهَا إِلَى شَرَقِ الْمَوْتَى وَإِنَّهَا صَلَاةُ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْ حِمَارٍ وَصَلَاةُ مَنْ لَا يَجِدُ بُدًّا فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْكُمْ ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانَ فَلْيَجْعَلِ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ سُبْحَةً»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me: 'How will you act, Abu Dharr, when you are under rulers who kill prayer or delay it (beyond its proper time) ?' I said: 'Messenger of Allah, what do you command me ?' He replied: 'Offer the prayer at its proper time, and if you say it along with them, say it, for it will be a supererogatory prayer for you.'" قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا؟ أَوْ قَالَ يُمِيتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ وَقْتِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي؟ قَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهَا مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّ؛ فَإِنَّهَا لَكَ نَافِلَةٌ

"إنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عليكم أمَراءُ، يُميتُونَ الصَّلَاة عن مواقيتها، فصَلُّوا الصَّلاةَ لوقْتِها واجْعَلُوا صلَاتكم مَعَهم سُبْحَةً ".

"إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ بَعْدِى أَئِمَّةٌ يُصَلُّونَ الصَّلَاةَ لِغَيْرِ وَقْتِهَا، فإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِها، وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُمْ نافلَةً".

"إِنَّها ستكونُ أُمَراءُ، يُميتُونَ الصَّلاةَ، يخُفِقُونَها إِلى شَرَق الموْتى، وأَنَّها صلاةُ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْ حِمَارٍ، وصلاة مَنْ لا يجدُ بُدًا، فمنْ أَدْرك، مِنْكُم ذلك الزَّمانَ فليُصَلِّ الصلاةَ لوقْتِهَا، واجْعلُوا صلاتَكُمْ مَعَهُم سُبْحةً".

"إِنَّها ستجئُ أُمَراءُ، تَشْغَلَهُم أَشياءُ، حتَّى لا يُصَلُّوا الصلاةَ لميقَاتِها، فصلوا الصَّلاةَ لِوَقْتِها، فإِنْ أَدركتُموها معهُمَّ فاجعلُوا صلَاتكُم معهُمْ سُبْحةً" .

"إِنَّها ستكونُ عليْكُم أُمراءُ يؤَخّرُونَ الصلاةَ عن مواقِيتِها، قالوا: كيف نصنعُ؟ قَالَ: صلُّوهَا لوقْتِها فإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُموها معهم فاجْعَلُوا صلاتكم معهم سُبْحة" .

"سيكُون أُمراءُ تَشْغَلُهم أَشْياءُ، يُؤَخّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ عنْ وقْتِهَا، فَصلُّوا الصَّلَاةَ لَوقْتِهَا، واجْعلُوا صلَاتَكُمْ معهُمْ تَطَوُّعًا".

"صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّ ولَا تَقُلْ إِنِّى قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَلَا أُصَلِّى".

"صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، فإِنْ أَدْرَكتَ الإِمَامَ يُصَلِّى بِهِم فَصَلِّ مَعَهُم، وَقدْ أَحْرَزْتَ صَلَاتَكَ، وَإِلَّا فَهى نَافِلَةٌ لَكَ".

"كَيف بِكم إِذا أتَت عَلَيكمْ أمَرَاءُ يُصَلُّون الصَّلاة لِغَير وَقتِها؟ قِيلَ: مَا تَأمُرَنِى؟ قَال: صَل الصلاةَ لِمِيقَاتِهَا، وَاجعَل صَلاتكَ مَعَهم سُبحَةً".

"كَيف أنْتَ إِذَا كَانَت عَلَيكَ أمَرَاء يؤَخِّرونَ الصلاة عَن وَقْتِهَا؟ صَل الصلاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أدْرَكْتَهَا مَعَهمْ فَصَلِّ فَإِنهَا لَكَ نَافِلَة".

"كَيفَ إِذَا أَتَت عَلَيكُم أُمَرَاء يُصَلُّونَ الصَّلاةَ لِغَيرِ وَقْتْها؟ صَلِّ الصَّلاة لِمِيقَاتِهَا، وَاجْعَل صَلاتَكَ مَعَهُم سبحَةً".

"لَعَلَّكُمْ سَتُدْرِكُونَ أقْوَامًا يُصَلَّونَ الصَّلاةَ لِغَيرِ وَقْتِهَا، فَإنْ أدْرَكُتُمُوهُمْ فَصَلُّوا الصَّلاة لِوَقْتَهَا، وَصَلَّوا مَعَهُمْ وَاجْعَلُوهَا سُبْحَةً".

"يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أئمَّةٌ يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلَاةَ، فَإِذَا أَدْرَكْتُمُوهُمْ فَصَلُّوا الَّصَلَاة لِوَقْتِهَا، وَاجْعَلُوا صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَهُم نَافِلَةً".
