My father said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say "Samiʿa l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd." And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

I saw that whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for the prayer, he used to raise both his hands up to the shoulders, and used to do the same on saying the Takbir for bowing and on raising his head from it and used to say, "Samiʿa l-lahu liman hamidah". But he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood up for prayer, used to raise his hands apposite the shoulders and then recited takbir (Allah-o-Akbar), and when he was about to bow he again did like it and when he raised himself from the ruku' (bowing posture) he again did like it, but he did not do it at the time of raising his head from prostration.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands apposite his ears at the time of reciting the takbir (i. e. at the time of beginning the prayer) and then again raised his hands apposite the ears at the time of bowing and when he lifted his head after bowing he said: Allah listened to him who praised Him, and did like it (raised his hands up to the ears).

“Allah listens to him who praises Him,” (he raised his hands); and when he stood up at the end of two rak’ahs, he raised his hands. He (Ibn ‘Umar) traced that back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu Dawud said: What is correct is that the tradition reported by Ibn ‘Umar does not go back to the Prophet (may peace beupon him). Abu Dawud said: The narrator Baqiyyah reported the first part of this tradition from ‘Ubaid Allah and traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ; and the narrator al-Thaqafi reported it from ‘Ubaid Allah as a statement of Ibn ‘Umar himself(not from the Porphet). In this version he said: When he stood at the end of two rak’ahs he raised them up to his breasts. And this is the correct version. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted as a statement of Ibn ‘Umar (and not of the Prophet) by al-Laith b. Sa’d, Malik, Ayyub, and Ibn Juraij; and this has been narrated as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ by Hammad b. Salamah alone on the authority of Ayyub. Ayyub and Malik did not mention his raising of hands when he stood after two prostrations, but al-Laith mentioned it in his version. Ibn Juraij said in this version: I asked Nafi’: Did Ibn ‘Umar raise (his hands) higher for the first time? He said: No, I said: Point out to me. He then pointed to the breasts or lower than that.

"I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood to pray, raise his hands until they were in level with his shoulders, then he said the takbir. Bu he did not do that during the prostration."

It was narrated that Malik bin Huwairith said that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said Allahu Akbar, he would raise his hands until they were close to his ears; when he bowed in Ruku’ he did likewise, and when he raised his head from Ruku’ he did likewise.

that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started to pray, he would raise his hands in level with his shoulders, and when he bowed and when he raised his head from bowing, he would raise them likewise and say "Sami Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Allah hears those who praise Him, our Lord, to You be praise." And he did not do that when he prostrated. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 878)

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising his hands when he entered the prayer, when he bowed, and when he raised his head from the bowing position, but he did not do that during prostration."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا دَخَلَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ وَلَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّجُودِ

[AI] The translation of the given Arabic text into English is: "It is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands up to the level of his shoulders when entering prayer, and when he would bow down and when he would rise from bowing."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands when saying takbir (Allahu Akbar) in prayer, until they were level with his shoulders or close to that. And when he went into ruku' (bowing), he raised them, and when he raised his head from ruku', he raised them too. However, he did not do this during sujud (prostration).

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا فُرُوعَ أُذُنَيْهِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messengerof Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders when he began the prayer and when he raised his head from the ruku he raised them in the same way, saying, "Allah hears whoever praises him, our Lord and praise belongs to You." He did not raise them in the sujud.

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا كَبَّرَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ»

Abu Qilaba reported that he saw Malik b. Huwairith raising his hands at the beginning of prayer and raising his hands before kneeling down, and raising his hands after lifting his head from the state of kneeling, and he narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do like this. أَنَّهُ رَأَى مَالِكَ بْنَ الْحُوَيْرِثِ «إِذَا صَلَّى كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ هَكَذَا»

قال والله إني لأعلمكم بصلاة رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا رفع رأسه من الركوع قال اللهم ربنا لك الحمد وَكان يكبر إذا نهض وإذا خفض وإذا رفع

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ begin the takbeer in prayer, and he raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders. Then, when he said the takbeer for the bowing, he did the same. Then he said, 'Allah listens to the one who praises Him,' and he did the same. Then he said, 'Our Lord, praise is due to You,' and he did the same."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ افْتَتَحَ التَّكْبِيرَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى جَعَلَهُمَا حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا كَبَّرَ لِلرُّكُوعِ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders when he would say the takbeer in prayer and when he would bow, he would do the same. And when he would raise his head, he would also do the same. And when he would say "Allah hears the one who praises Him," he would say "Our Lord, to You is the praise" and he would do the same. And he would not do this during prostration.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ إِذَا كَبَّرَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِذَاءَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ» وَإِذَا قَالَ «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» قَالَ «رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَلَا يَفْعَلُ فِي السُّجُودِ»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands when he said the takbeer at the beginning of the prayer until they reached the level of his ears. And when he bowed and raised his head from Rukoo', the wording is the same."

[AI] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to, when he entered prayer, raise his hands to the level of his ears. And when he bowed, and when he raised his head from bowing."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ» إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى فُرُوعِ أُذُنَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ» يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا كَبَّرَ حَتَّى يُحَاذِي بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ

It was narrated that Malik bin Huwairith said that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said Allahu Akbar, he would raise his hands until they were close to his ears; when he bowed in Ruku’ he did likewise, and when he raised his head from Ruku’ he did likewise. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 859)

I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ opening the prayer with the Takbir and raising his hands to the level of his shoulders at the time of saying the Takbir, and on saying the Takbir for bowing he did the same; and when he said, "Samiʿa l-lahu liman hamidah ", he did the same and then said, "Rabbana wa laka lhamd." "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood to pray, raise his hands until they were in level with his shoulders, then he said the takbir. He did that when he said the Takbir before bowing, and he did that when he raised his head from bowing and said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him).' Bu he did not do that during the prostration." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 877)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى تَكُونَا حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ قَالَ وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ حِينَ يُكَبِّرُ لِلرُّكُوعِ وَيَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ حِينَ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَيَقُولُ «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» وَلَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّجُودِ

My father said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say "Samiʿa l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd." And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَهُمَا كَذَلِكَ وَقَالَ «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ» وَكَانَ لَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّجُودِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands parallel to his shoulders when he began the prayer. And when he wanted to make the bowing (rak'ah) and when he raised his head from the bowing (rukoo'), he did not do so in any part of his prostration. And when he stood up from the two prostrations (sujood), he did the same. And this is also mentioned in one of the narrations from Wail ibn Hujr.

It was narrated from ‘Ali bin Abi Talib ؓ that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to offer the prescribed prayer, he would say Allahu Akbar and raise his hands to shoulder height; he did the same when he finished reciting and wanted to bow, and he did it when he raised his head from bowing. He did not raise his hands when sitting in any part of his prayer, but when he stood up following the two prostrations, he raised his hands in the same manner and said Allahu Akbar.
