malik:2-26Mālik > Mūsá b. ʿUqbah > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Zayd al-Anṣārī

It was related to me from Malik from Musa ibn Uqba from Abd ar- Rahman ibn Yazid al-Ansari that when Anas ibn Malik came back from Iraq, Abu Talha and Ubayy ibn Kab visited him. He brought them some cooked food and they ate, and then Anas got up and did wudu. Abu Talha and Ubayy ibn Kab asked, "What's this, Anas? Is it an Iraqi custom?" and Anas said, "I wish I had not done it." (i.e. wudu). Abu Talha and Ubayy ibn Kab both got up and prayed without doing wudu.

malik:2-32Mālik > Isḥāq b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Ṭalḥah > Anas b. Mālik

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha that Anas ibn Malik said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one occasion when the asr prayer was at hand . Everyone was looking for water for wudu but no- one could find any. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought some water in a vessel . He put his hand into the vessel and then he told them all to do wudu from it." Anas added, "I saw water coming out from his fingers. Then all of them to the last man did wudu."

ahmad:12348ʿAbd al-Raḥman Mālik > Isḥāq b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Ṭalḥah > Anas b. Mālik

I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the time of the afternoon prayer and the people asking for water for performing ablution which they did not find. (A small quantity) of water was brought to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he placed his hand in that vessel and commanded people to perform ablution. I saw water spouting from his fingers and the people performing ablution until the last amongst them performed it. (Using translation from Muslim 2279b)

malik:2-33Mālik > Nuʿaym b. ʿAbdullāh al-Madanī al-Mujmir > Abū Hurayrah

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nuaym ibn Abdullah al-Madani al-Mujmir that he heard Abu Hurayra say, "If someone does wudu and does it correctly and then goes off intending to do the prayer, then he is in prayer as long as he intends to do the prayer. A good action is written for every alternate step he makes and a wrong action is erased for the second. When you hear the iqama do not lengthen your stride, and the one who has the greatest reward is the one whose house is farthest away." They said, "Why, Abu Hurayra?" He replied, "Because of the greater number of steps."

malik:2-37Yaḥyá > Mālik > Nāfiʿ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used two fingers to take water to his ears.

malik:2-47Yaḥyá > Mālik > Nāfiʿ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar would leave and do wudu if he had a nose-bleed and then return and complete his prayer without saying anything.

malik:2-50Yaḥyá > Mālik > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Ḥarmalah al-Aslamī

Yahya related to me that Abd ar-Rahman ibn Harmala al-Aslami said, "I saw Said ibn al-Musayyab with his nose bleeding and blood poured out of it so that his fingers were all red from the blood coming out of his nose, and he prayed without doing wudu."

malik:2-53Mālik > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Said ibn al-Musayyab was asked, "What do you say about someone who is afflicted by a nose-bleed which does not stop? "Malik said that Yahya ibn Said said that Said ibn al Musayyab said, "I say that he should signal with his head." (i.e. instead of doing sajda or ruku.) Yahya said that Malik said, "That is what I like most out of what I have heard about the matter."

malik:2-60Mālik > Ismāʿīl b. Muḥammad b. Saʿd b. Abū Waqqāṣ > Muṣʿab b. Saʿd b. Abū Waqqāṣ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ismail ibn Muhammad ibn Sad ibn Abi Waqqas that Musab ibn Sad ibn Abi Waqqas said, "I was holding the Book for Sad ibn Abi Waqqas and I rubbed myself. Sad said, 'Did you touch your penis?' I replied, 'Yes,' and he said, 'Get up and do wudu.' So I got up and did wudu and then returned."

malik:2-64Mālik > Nāfiʿ > Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Salim ibn 'Abdullah said, "I was with Abdullah ibn Umar on a journey and after the sun had risen I saw him do wudu and then pray. So I said to him, 'This isn't a prayer that you normally do. 'He said, 'After I had done wudu for the subh prayer, I touched my genitals. Then I forgot to do wudu. So I did wudu again and repeated my prayer.' "

[Machine] When the sun rose, he performed ablution and prayed. I said to him, "This is a prayer that you didn't used to pray before." He replied, "After I performed ablution for the morning prayer, I touched my private parts and then forgot to perform ablution, so I performed ablution again and then returned to my prayer."

[Machine] "Do you hear the companions of the Messenger of Allah being insulted in your presence? Do not deny or change, for I bear witness to the Messenger of Allah with what my ears have heard and my heart has comprehended from the Messenger of Allah. I did not fabricate lies about him when I was asked about him. If I were to meet him and someone asked me about him, I would say that Abu Bakr is in Paradise, and Umar is in Paradise, and Ali is in Paradise, and Uthman is in Paradise, and Talhah is in Paradise, and Zubayr is in Paradise, and Abdur-Rahman is in Paradise, and Saad ibn Malik is in Paradise, and the ninth of the believers is in Paradise. If I were to name him, I would name him. The people in the mosque became agitated and asked him, "O companion of the Messenger of Allah, who is the ninth?" He said, "You have asked me by Allah and Allah is Great. I am the ninth of the believers, and the Messenger of Allah is the tenth. Then he pointed with his right hand and said, "I swear by Allah, a man's witness in which his face is covered with the Messenger of Allah is better than the deed of any of you, even if he lived the lifespan of Prophet Noah, ﷺ ."

[Machine] Sufyan and the magicians separated every forbidden person from the Magians and prevented them from drinking Zamzam water. So we killed three magicians and made a distinction between a man and his wife in the Book of Allah. And a large portion of food was made and the sword was shown on his thigh, and he called the Magians, so they threw a shredded palm leaf or leaves on him and ate without Zamzam water. And Umar may have taken the jizyah from the Magians, until AbdurRahman bin Awf bore witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it from the Magians in Hajr. And my father said and Sufyan said, "Mu'sab performed Hajj along with Bajalah in the year seventy."

Abdur-Rahman said: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: If any one of you is in doubt about his prayer, then he should consider it as one unit (rak'ah) and two units (rak'ah), and if he is in doubt about two units (rak'ah) or three, then he should consider it as two units (rak'ah), and if he is in doubt about three or four, then he should consider it as three units (rak'ah), until the doubt concerning the addition is removed, and he should prostrate twice before he gives the Salam, then he should give the Salam, and this is its meaning.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent the army of Dhat al-Salsal and appointed Abu Ubaydah over the Muhajireen (emigrants) and appointed Amr ibn al-'As over the Arabs. He said to them, "Cooperate with each other." They said, "We were commanded to follow Bakr." So Amr set out and became jealous over Qudaa'ah because Bakr was his cousin. The Mu'gheerah ibn Shu'bah went to Abu Ubaydah and said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed you over us, and the son of so-and-so has taken command of the people and you have no authority with him." Abu Ubaydah said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to cooperate, so I obey the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , even if Amr disobeys him."

I was with my master ʿAli bin Abi Talib ؓ when the people of an-Nahrawan were killed, and it was as if the people were upset about their being killed. ʿAli ؓ said: O people, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us about people who would pass out of the faith like the arrow passes through the prey, then they will never come back to it until the arrow comes back to the string of the bow. And the sign of that is that there would be a black man among them who had a deformed arm: one of his arms would be like the breast of a woman, with a nipple like the nipple on a womanʿs breast, around which are seven coarse hairs. Look for him, for I think he must be among them. So they looked for him and they found him on the bank of the river, lying beneath the slain. They brought him out and ’Ali ؓ said: Allahu Akbar! Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. He was holding an Arabian bow of his; he took it in his hand and started poking the manʿs deformity with it and said: Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. The people said Allahu Akbar when they saw that and they rejoiced and no longer felt upset.
