1.6. Rest of the Ten Promised Paradise
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "I witnessed the oath of allegiance of the Muta'ibeen (a group of people) while I was still a young boy. I do not desire to have red camels, but I shall fulfill my vows."
[Machine] I heard from the Messenger of Allah or one of his companions, "When a man is uncertain about his prayer, what should he do?" He said, "While in this state, Abdullah ibn Awf approached and asked, 'Who are you two?'" Umar said, "I asked this young man if he had heard from the Messenger of Allah or any of his companions, what should one do when uncertain about their prayer?" Abdullah ibn Awf said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah say, 'If one of you is uncertain about their prayer and does not know whether they have prayed one or two (units), then let them make it one. And if they do not know whether they have prayed two or three, then let them make it two. And if they do not know whether they have prayed three or four, then let them make it three. Then let them prostrate when they finish their prayer while seated before they give the salutations with two prostrations.'"
[Machine] Sufyan and the magicians separated every forbidden person from the Magians and prevented them from drinking Zamzam water. So we killed three magicians and made a distinction between a man and his wife in the Book of Allah. And a large portion of food was made and the sword was shown on his thigh, and he called the Magians, so they threw a shredded palm leaf or leaves on him and ate without Zamzam water. And Umar may have taken the jizyah from the Magians, until AbdurRahman bin Awf bore witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it from the Magians in Hajr. And my father said and Sufyan said, "Mu'sab performed Hajj along with Bajalah in the year seventy."

I heard ʿUmar ؓ say to ‘Abdur-Rahman, Talhah, azZubair and Saʿd: “I adjure you by Allah, by Whose power heaven and earth exist [Sufyan said on one occasion: by Whose leave heaven and earth exist], do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿWe [Prophets] are not to be inherited from ; what we leave behind is charity”. They said: “By Allah, yes.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1391)
[Machine] To Him belongs the servant of the Most Merciful, and it is through your ties of kinship that you will attain mercy. Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said that Allah (glorified and exalted be He) said: "I am the Most Merciful. I have created the womb (i.e., relationships) and have derived its name from My Name. So, whoever maintains ties of kinship, I shall maintain ties with him, and whoever severs ties of kinship, I shall sever ties with him."
"I said to Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman: 'Tell me of something that you heard from your father, that he heard from the Messenger of Allah, with no one in between your father and Messenge of Allah concerning the month of Ramadan. He said: 'Yes; my father said: The Messenger of Allah said: Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, enjoined the fast of Ramadan upon you, and I have made it Sunnah for you to spend its nights in prayer. Whoever fasts it and spends its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother bore him."' (Daif) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2210)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts her month (Ramadan), protects her chastity, and obeys her husband, it will be said to her, 'Enter Paradise from whichever door of Paradise you wish.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out, and I followed him until he entered a date palm grove and prostrated. He prolonged his prostration to the extent that I became worried or feared that Allah had taken his soul or seized him. So, I approached to take a look, and he raised his head and said, "What is it, O Abdullah (slave of the Most Merciful)?" I mentioned to him what I had thought, and he said, "Indeed, Jibril ﷺ informed me: 'Should I not give you the good news that Allah says to you, whoever sends blessings upon you, I send blessings upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I send peace upon him.'"
[Machine] I entered the mosque and saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming out of it, so I followed him and he mentioned the narration.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and headed towards his charity. He entered and faced the qibla, then prostrated, prolonging the prostration until I thought that Allah had taken his soul in it. So, I approached him, then I sat down. He raised his head and said, "Who is this?" I said, "Abdul Rahman." He said, "What is your concern?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prostrated out of fear that Allah may have taken your soul in it." He said, "Indeed, Gabriel came to me and gave me glad tidings. He said, 'Allah says, whoever sends blessings upon you, I send blessings upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I send peace upon him.' So, I prostrated to Allah, giving thanks."
[Machine] "He (Abdul Rahman) was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when the Prophet ﷺ went to fulfill his need. They were caught by prayer time, so they established the prayer. Abdul Rahman led the prayer, then the Prophet ﷺ came and prayed with the people behind him a separate unit. After he finished, he said, 'You have done well or you have done the best.'"
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "If there is a plague in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it. And if there is a plague in a land and you are in it, do not leave it."
[Machine] "Some Arab people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Medina and embraced Islam. Then they were afflicted with a plague in Medina, so they became infected and spread the disease. Thus, they left the city and some of the Companions, meaning the Prophet's companions, confronted them and asked them why they had returned. They replied, 'We were struck by the plague in Medina, so we fled from the city.' The companions asked them, 'What about your role model, the Messenger of Allah?' Some of them said they were hypocrites, while others said they were true believers. So Allah revealed the verse, 'What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned?' (Quran 4:88)"
[Machine] Umar said, "O Hayy! Be silent now, for the dawn has come. Remember Allah." He then looked at Abdul Rahman's two slippers and said, "And what are these two slippers that you are wearing? I have either seen them with someone better than you or with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Umar then said, "I have resolved upon you, unless you remove them, for I fear that the people may look at you and imitate you."
[Machine] "And he said, 'I wore them both with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' "
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Umar ibn al-Khattab gave me a portion of land. Zubair went to the family of Umar and bought his share from them. He then went to Uthman ibn Affan and said, "Abdul Rahman ibn Awf claims that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Umar ibn al-Khattab gave him a portion of land, and I have bought Umar's share from his family." Uthman said, "Abdul Rahman's testimony is valid and binding."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Emigration (hijrah) will not cease as long as the enemy is fought." Then Mu'awiyah, Abdullah ibn Awfa, and Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As said, "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Emigration has two qualities: one is to abandon evil deeds, and the other is to migrate to Allah and His Messenger.' Emigration will not cease until repentance is accepted, and repentance will continue to be accepted until the sun rises from the west. Once the sun rises from the west, then the deeds of every heart will be sealed, and people will cease to perform good deeds."
[Machine] When the Magi left the Messenger of Allah, I asked him and he informed me that the Prophet was given the choice between the jizyah (tax) and killing, so he chose the jizyah.
While I was standing in the battle array on the Day of Badr, I looked towards my right and my left, and found myself between two boys from the Ansar quite young in age. I wished I were between stronger persons. One of them made a sign to me and. said: Uncle, do you recognise Abu Jahl? 1 said: Yes. What do you want to do with him, O my nephew? He said: I have been told that he abuses the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, in Whose Hand is my life, if I see him (I will grapple with him) and will not leave him until one of us who is destined to die earlier is killed. The narrator said: I wondered at this. Then the other made a sign to me and said similar words. Soon after I saw Abu Jahl. He was moving about among men. I said to the two boys: Don't you see? He is the man you were inquiring about. (As soon as they heard this), they dashed towards him, struck him with their swords until he was killed. Then they returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him (to this effect). He asked: Which of you has killed him? Each one of them said: I have killed him. He said: Have you wiped your swords? They said: No. He examined their swords and said: Both of you have killed him. He then decided that the belongings of Abu Jahl he handed over to Mu'adh b. Amr b. al-Jamuh. And the two boys were Mu'adh b. Amr b. Jawth and Mu'adh b. Afra. (Using translation from Muslim 1752)

[Machine] I heard Abdullah ibn Awf say: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are three things, by Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if I were to swear an oath upon them, they would not diminish any of the wealth from charity. So, give in charity. And no servant forgives an oppressor seeking the face of Allah except that Allah raises him in honor by it. And Abu Sa'id, the servant of Banu Hashim, said: No one except that Allah increases him in honor on the Day of Resurrection by it. And no servant opens a door of asking except that Allah opens for him a door of poverty."

Amr ibn Aws and AbulSha'tha' reported that Bujalah said: I was secretary to Jaz' ibn Mu'awiyah, the uncle of Ahnaf ibn Qays. A letter came to us from Umar one year before his death, saying: Kill every magician, separate the relatives of prohibited degrees from the Magians, and forbid them to murmur (before eating). So we killed three magicians in one day, and separated from a Magian husband his wife of a prohibited degree according to the Book of Allah. He prepared abundant food and called them, and placed the sword on his thigh. They ate (the food) but did not murmur. They threw (on the ground) one or two mule-loads of silver. Umar did not take jizyah from Magians until AbdurRahman ibn Awf witnessed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taken jizyah from the Magians of Hajar. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3043)
