[Machine] Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allahﷺ led us in one of the night prayer rak'ahs and he did not pray with us except for two rak'ahs. So, a man named Dhu al-Yadayn from Khuzayah said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you shorten the prayer or did you forget?" The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "None of that was the case." The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, you only prayed two rak'ahs with us." The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "What does Dhu al-Yadayn say?" Then he turned to the people and they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you only prayed two rak'ahs with us." So, the Prophetﷺ stood up, faced the qibla, and prayed the remaining two rak'ahs. Then he performed tashahhud, prostrated twice while sitting.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in one of the evening (‘Asha) prayers, noon or afternoon. He led us in two Rak’ahs and gave the salutation. He then got up going towards a piece of wood which was placed in the front part of the mosque. He placed his hands upon it, one on the other, looking from his face as if he were angry. The people came out hastily saying: the prayer has been shortened. Abu Bakr and ‘Umar were among the people, but they were too afraid to speak to him. A man whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would call “ the possessor of arms” (Dhu al-Yadain) stood up (asking him): Have you forgotten. The Messenger of Allah, or has the prayer been shortened? He said: I have neither forgotten nor has it been shortened. He said : Messenger of Allah , you have forgotten. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned towards the people and asked : did the possessor of arms speak the truth? They made a sign , that is, yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to his place and prayed the remaining two Rak’ahs, then gave the salutation; he then uttered the takbir and prostrated himself as usual or prolonged. He then raised his head and uttered the takbir; then he uttered the takbir and made prostration as usual or made longer (prostration). Then he raised his head his and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great). The narrator Muhammad was asked : Did he give the salutation (while prostrating) dueto forgetfulness? He said : I do not remember it from Abu Hurairah. But we Are sure that ‘Imran b. Husain (in his version) said; he then gave the salutation. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1008)

The Prophet ﷺ named the two prostrations of forgetfulness disgraceful for the devil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1025)
9.28 [Machine] The traveler
When the people encamped, (the narrator Amr ibn Uthman al-Himsi) said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encamped, the people scattered in the glens and wadis. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Your scattering in these glens and wadis is only of the devil. They afterwards kept close together when they encamped to such an extent that it used to be said that if a cloth were spread over them, it would cover them all. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2628)
[Machine] "They used to perform Hajj but would not prepare for it." Then Allah revealed, "And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is Taqwa (piety)."
«كَانُوا يَحُجُّونَ وَلَا يَتَزَوَّدُونَ» فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى}
[Machine] A man came to him while he wanted to travel and greeted him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I advise you to fear Allah and to say Allahu Akbar upon every high place." When the man turned away, he said, "O Allah, grant him ease in his journey and make his travel easy for him."
[Machine] Indeed, I do not have anything to give you, but I heard the Messenger of Allahﷺ say, "If Allah entrusts something to someone, He will protect it. And indeed, I entrust to Allah your religion, your trustworthiness, and the outcomes of your deeds."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "On the back of every camel, there is a devil. So when you ride it, mention the name of Allah and do not neglect your needs."
When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to travel, when he mounted his riding camel, he would say the Takbir three times and say: Glory is to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we were not able to do it. And, surely, to our Lord are we returning (Subḥān alladhī sakh-khara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahū muqrinīn. Wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn). Then he would say: “O Allah, I ask You in this journey of mine from the righteousness and piety and actions that which you are pleased with. O Allah, ease for us the path, and make near for us the distance of the land. O Allah, You are the companion in the journey, and the caretaker for the family. O Allah, accompany us in our journey, and take care of our families (Allāhumma innī as’aluka fī safarī hādhā minal-birri wat-taqwā, wa minal-ʿamali mā tarḍā. Allāhumma hawwin ʿalainal-masīra, waṭwi ʿannā buʿdal-arḍ. Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli. Allāhumma aṣḥabnā fī safarinā wakhlufnā fī ahlinā).” And when he would return to his family, he would say: “(We are) Returning, if Allah wills, repenting, worshipping, and to our Lord directing the praise (Ā’ibūna in shā’ Allāh, tā’ibūna ʿābidūna lirabbinā hāmidūn).” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3447)
Hallowed is He Who subdued for us this (ride) and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use It as a ride, and we are going to return to our Lord. O Allah, we seek virtue and piety from Thee in this journey of ours and the act which pleaseth Thee. O Allah, lighten this journey of ours, and make its distance easy for us. O Allah, Thou art (our) companion during the journey, and guardian of (our) family. O Allah, I seek refuge with Thee from hardships of the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil changes in property and family on return. And he (the Holy Prophet) uttered (these words), and made this addition to them: We are returning, repentant, worshipping our Lord. and praising Him. (Using translation from Muslim 1342)
[Machine] "In the name of Allah. When he ascended upon it, he said, 'Praise be to Allah who honored us, carried us on land and sea, provided us with good things, and favored us over many of His creations. Glory be to the One who has subjected these for us, as we would not have been able to do so on our own. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.' Then he raised his voice and said three times, 'O Allah, forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You.' Then he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did the same, and I follow his example.'"
I saw ‘Ali ؓ when a mount was brought to him to ride. When he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: Bismillah (in the Name of Allah). When he got on it, he said: Glory be to the One Who has placed this (transport) at our service and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny. Then he said Alhamdulillah three times and Allahu Akbar three times, then he said: Glory be to You, there is no god but You. I have indeed wronged myself, so forgive me. Then he smiled, and I said: Why are you smiting, O Ameer al-Muʿmimeen? He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do what I have done, then he smiled and I said: Why are you smiling O Messenger of Allah ﷺ He said: ʿThe Lord marvels at His slave when he says, ʿLord forgive me,ʿ and He says: ʿMy slave knows that no one forgives sins but Me.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 753)

“If anyone of you, when he stops to camp (while on a journey), says A’udhu bi kalimatil-lahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created), then nothing will harm him in that place until he moves on.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3547)

When you journey through a fertile land, you should (go slow and) give the camels a chance to graze in the land. When you travel In an arid (land) where there is scarcity of vegetation, you should quicken their pace (lest your camels grow feeble and emaciated for lack of fodder). When you halt for the night, avoid (pitching your tent on) the road, for it is the abode of noxious little animals at night. (Using translation from Muslim 1926a)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Makkah in the year of the conquest during the month of Ramadan until he reached the Kura'al-Ghamim. It was said to him, "The people are fasting even though they are on foot or riding." They told him, "The people find it difficult to fast, they are just watching what you do." So he called for a cup and lifted it up towards his mouth so the people could see, and then he drank from it. Some people broke their fast and others continued to fast. The Prophet ﷺ was told, "Some of them are still fasting." He said, "Those are the disobedient ones." Then the people who were on foot from his companions gathered and said, "We are exposed to the supplications of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the journey has become difficult and the hardship has increased." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "Seek help through taking off your shoes, as it cuts off the mark from the earth and you will remain hidden for him." They did as he advised and lightened the burden for him.

9.30 [Machine] A Lesson on Travel Prayer
“We find (mention of) the prayer of the resident and the prayer in a state of fear in the Qur’an, but we do not find any mention of the prayer of the traveler. ‘Abdullah said to him: “Allah sent Muhammad ﷺ to us, and we did not know anything, rather we do what we saw Muhammad ﷺ doing.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1066)
The prayer was prescribed as consisting of two rak'ahs both when one was resident and when travelling. The prayer while travelling was left according to the original prescription and the prayer of one who was resident was enhanced. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1198)
