"I asked 'Aishah about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: 'He used to sleep during the first part of the night, then get up during the time before dawn and pray witr. Then he would go to his bed and if he needed to be intimate he would go to his wife. Then when he heard the Adhan he would get up, and if he was junub he would pour water over himself, otherwise he would perform wudu, then he would go out to the prayer.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1680)

"He used to pray 'Isha, then he would recite tasbih, then after that he would pray whatever Allah (SWT) willed (he should pray) of night prayer. Then he would go and sleep for as long as he had prayed. Then he would get up from sleep and pray for as long as he had slept, and this last prayer of his would continue until dawn." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1628)

[Machine] Regarding the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ at night, it is narrated that Aisha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform two raka'ahs after Isha prayer, then he would sleep. His purification and toothbrush would be near his head. He would wake up, perform ablution, pray, and then perform two more raka'ahs. Then he would stand and pray eight raka'ahs, reciting equally in each of them. Afterward, he would perform the Witr prayer with the ninth raka'ah, followed by two raka'ahs while sitting. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the Witr prayer and took the meat, he made the eight raka'ahs together as six. He then performed the Witr prayer with the seventh raka'ah, followed by two raka'ahs while sitting in which he recited "Say, O disbelievers" and "When the earth is shaken."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Abdullah ibn Amr, do not be like so-and-so, who used to stand in prayer at night and then left it." Abu Hatim said: "In this hadith is evidence for the permissibility of a person speaking behind someone's back if it is something that when the person hears it, they would be cautious or correct their behavior without denigrating the person being talked about in what was mentioned."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: He who misses him daily round of recital or part of it due to sleep and he recites it between the dawn and the noon prayers, will be reckoned as if he recited it at night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1313)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to establish any deed that he performed." And she (Aisha) said, "Whenever he would sleep at night or fall ill during the day, he would pray twelve cycles (rak'ahs), and I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ staying up the whole night until morning, nor fasting for an entire month consecutively except during Ramadan."
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not pray at night because he was prevented from doing so by sleep- meaning, sleep overwhelmed him- or by pain, he would pray twelve rak'ahs during the day. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1789)
'A'isha reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decided upon doing any act, he continued to do it, and when he slept at night or fell sick he observed twelve rak'ahs during the daytime. I am not aware of Messenger of Allah ﷺ observing prayer during the whole of the night till morning, or observing fast for a whole month continuously except that of Ramadan. (Using translation from Muslim 746f)

[Machine] "The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to establish his actions when he performed them. And when he would sleep at night or become sick, he would pray twelve rak'at during the day."
[Machine] "I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stand (in prayer) throughout the night until morning, nor fast continuously for a month except in Ramadan."

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "If anyone forgets a prayer he should pray that prayer when he remembers it. There is no expiation except to pray the same." Then he recited: "Establish prayer for My (i.e. Allah's) remembrance." (20.14). (Using translation from Bukhārī 597)

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions missed a prayer due to sleep, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Pray it tomorrow at its designated time."
[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a battle. When it was late at night, he got married. As soon as he woke up, he woke us up before the heat of the sun. The man stood up astonished and terrified. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mount (your horses)." He mounted his horse and we mounted ours, and we set off until the sun rose. Then he stopped and ordered Bilal to call the Adhan. The people finished their needs, performed ablution, and prayed two Rak'ahs. Then he led us in prayer. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we make up these prayers at their prescribed time tomorrow?" He said, "Does your Lord forbid you from praying at the time of their occurrence and accept it from you?"
"We stopped to camp at the end of the night with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we did not wake up until the sun had risen. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Let each man take hold of his camel's head (and leave), for the Shaitan was here in this place with us.' We did that, then he called for water and performed Wudu', then he prayed two Rak'ahs, then the Iqamah was said and he prayed Al-Ghadah (Fajr)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 623)

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ slept and missed the two Rak’ah before Fajr, so he made them up after the sun had risen. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1155)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the afternoon prayer and then entered my house and prayed two units of prayer. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prayed a prayer that you did not usually pray?" He said, "I was occupied by some wealth that came to me, so I missed those two units of prayer that I used to perform before the afternoon prayer, and I have now prayed them." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we make them up if we miss them?" He said, "No."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed three units of prayer in the late afternoon (Asr) prayer. Al-Khirbaq, a companion, said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, did you forget or is the prayer shortened?" He ﷺ replied, "Has Al-Khirbaq spoken the truth?" They said, "Yes."

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed and did more or less (rak'ahs). When he had said the taslim, it was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, has there been some change concerning the prayer?' He said: 'If there had been some change concerning the prayer, I would have told you. Rather I am a human being and I forget as you forget. If any one of you is not sure about his prayer, let him consider an estimate of what is correct, and complete his prayer on that basis, then say the taslim and prostrate twice.'" [Machine] About the Prophetﷺ that he prayed the noon prayer (Dhuhr) as five units. It was said to him, "Is there anything extra in the prayer?" The Prophetﷺ said, "What is that?" They said, "You prayed five units." Then he performed two additional prostrations after the prayer.

The Prophet ﷺ prayed (and the sub-narrator Ibrahim said, "I do not know whether he prayed more or less than usual"), and when he had finished the prayers he was asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Has there been any change in the prayers?" He said, "What is it?' The people said, "You have prayed so much and so much." So the Prophet ﷺ bent his legs, faced the Qibla and performed two prostration's (of Sahu) and finished his prayers with Taslim (by turning his face to right and left saying: 'As-Salamu ʿAlaikum- Warahmat-ullah'). When he turned his face to us he said, "If there had been anything changed in the prayer, surely I would have informed you but I am a human being like you and liable to forget like you. So if I forget remind me and if anyone of you is doubtful about his prayer, he should follow what he thinks to be correct and complete his prayer accordingly and finish it and do two prostrations (of Sahu). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in one of the evening (‘Asha) prayers, noon or afternoon. He led us in two Rak’ahs and gave the salutation. He then got up going towards a piece of wood which was placed in the front part of the mosque. He placed his hands upon it, one on the other, looking from his face as if he were angry. The people came out hastily saying: the prayer has been shortened. Abu Bakr and ‘Umar were among the people, but they were too afraid to speak to him. A man whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would call “ the possessor of arms” (Dhu al-Yadain) stood up (asking him): Have you forgotten. The Messenger of Allah, or has the prayer been shortened? He said: I have neither forgotten nor has it been shortened. He said : Messenger of Allah , you have forgotten. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned towards the people and asked : did the possessor of arms speak the truth? They made a sign , that is, yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to his place and prayed the remaining two Rak’ahs, then gave the salutation; he then uttered the takbir and prostrated himself as usual or prolonged. He then raised his head and uttered the takbir; then he uttered the takbir and made prostration as usual or made longer (prostration). Then he raised his head his and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great). The narrator Muhammad was asked : Did he give the salutation (while prostrating) dueto forgetfulness? He said : I do not remember it from Abu Hurairah. But we Are sure that ‘Imran b. Husain (in his version) said; he then gave the salutation. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1008)

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Zuhr or 'Asr and said the taslim following two rak'ahs and left. Dhul-Shimalain bin 'Amr said to him: 'Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?" The Prophet ﷺ said: 'What is Dhul-Yadain saying?' They said: 'He is speaking the truth, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So he led them in praying the two rak'ahs that he missed." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1230)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished praying two rak'ahs, and Dhul-Yadain said to him: "Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Is Dhul-Yadain speaking the truth?" The people said: "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and prayed two, then he said the takbir and prostrated as usual or longer than that. Then he raised his head, then he prostrated as usual or longer than that, then he sat up." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1225)

The Prophet ﷺ named the two prostrations of forgetfulness disgraceful for the devil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1025)
[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us a prayer in which he either added or omitted something. When he finished, we asked, "O messenger of Allah, did you introduce something new in the prayer?" He replied, "I did not introduce anything new in the prayer. However, I am a human being and I forget just as you forget. So if I forget, remind me, and if any one of you is unsure about his prayer, he should strive to do it correctly and then perform two prostrations."

The Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer and forgot something, so he made prostrations and uttered the tashahhud, then gave the salutation. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1039)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed three units of prayer in the afternoon (Asr) prayer, and Al-Khirbaq said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, did you forget or was the prayer shortened?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Did Al-Khirbaq speak the truth?" They replied, "Yes."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When any one of you gets up and prays, the Shaitan comes to him an confuses him until he does not know how many (Rak'ahs) he prayed. If any one of you notices that, let him prostrate twice when he is sitting." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1252)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Dhuhr or Asr prayer for us and then performed the greeting (salam) in two units (rak'ahs) of one of them. So, Zul-Shimalain bin 'Abd Amr bin Nadlah al-Khuzai, an ally of Banu Zahrah, asked him, "Did the prayer become shortened or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I did not forget nor did I shorten it." So, Zul-Shimalain said, "Some of it was done like that, O Messenger of Allah." Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to the people and said, "Zul-Yadayn (meaning Zul-Shimalain) has spoken the truth." They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and completed the prayer.
