2. Book of Ṣalāh (8/9)
[Machine] The sun was eclipsed, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed and his prayer was narrated by Ibn Abbas that he ﷺ prayed two units (rak'ahs) in each unit (rak'ah), then he gave them a sermon and said, "Verily, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse for the death or life of any person. So, when you witness that, hasten to the remembrance of Allah."
The above hadith has been narrated through several other chains of transmitters. (Using translation from Muslim 2327b)
[Machine] "The sun set and the Prophet ﷺ prayed, and it was said that he performed two units of prayer in each unit."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ ordered when the sun was eclipsed to perform a prayer of eclipse."
This tradition has also been narrated on the authority of ‘A’ishah through a different chain. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 99)
2.188 [Machine] In the prayer of rain seeking.
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with the people to the place of prayer seeking rain, and he faced the Qibla (direction of prayer) and turned his cloak."
[Machine] He told him that the Prophet ﷺ went out with the people to the prayer place to pray for rain for them. Then he stood up and prayed to God while standing, then he turned towards the Qibla and turned his cloak and they were watered.
2.189 [Machine] Raising Hands in Prayer for Rain
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not raise his hands during any supplication except when praying for rain, when he used to raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits could be seen." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1513)
2.190 [Machine] The Friday Bath
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath." (Using translation from Bukhārī 877)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ghusl (taking a bath) on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim reaching the age of puberty." (Using translation from Bukhārī 858)
This tradition has also been narrated on the authority of ‘A’ishah through a different chain. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 99)
While 'Umar b. al-Khattab was making a speech on Friday (in the mosque), a man came in. 'Umar said: Are you detained from prayer ? The man said: As soon as I heard the call for prayer, I perfumed ablution. Then 'Umar said: Only ablution ? Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When any one of you comes for Friday (prayer) he should take a bath. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 340)
“Whoever performs ablution on Friday, it is well and good for him, and he has done what is obligatory for him. But whoever takes a bath, bath is better.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1091)

[Machine] From Salman al-Farsi, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs Ghusl on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday) and purifies himself as much as he can, and then applies perfume from his own perfume or from the perfume of his house, then goes and does not separate between two people, and performs what is prescribed for him, then when the Imam comes out, he remains silent, he will be forgiven for what is between him and the next Jumu'ah (Friday)."

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite: The revelation of the Book and; 'Has there not been over man.' in Subh prayer on Friday. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 956)
2.193 [Machine] The virtue of migration to Friday
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who rushes to Friday prayer is like a slaughtered goat, then the one who comes after him is like a slaughtered cow, then the one who comes after him is like a slaughtered sheep. When the Imam sits on the pulpit, the records are folded and they sit to listen to the reminder."
[Machine] Narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said, "When it is the day of Friday, the angels sit at the doors of the mosque and write down those who come for the Friday prayer. When the Imam (leader) comes out, they fold their sheets and listen to the reminder."
2.194 [Machine] On Friday.
[Machine] "We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ on Fridays, then we would return and rush to find shade in the valleys of Bani Ghanim, where there was nothing but the impressions of our feet."
We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1085)
2.195 [Machine] In listening on Friday during the sermon and attentiveness...
[Machine] Abu Al-As'ath Al-San'aani, narrated from Aws bin Aws, who narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , that he said, "Whoever performs ghusl (ritual washing) and takes a bath on the day of Friday, then goes early and sits close to the imam (leader of prayer), listens attentively, and does not engage in idle talk until the imam finishes the prayer, will receive the reward of fasting and praying the whole year for every step he takes."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you say to your companion: 'Be quiet and listen' when the imam is delivering the Khutbah, you have engaged in idle speech." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1577)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you say to your companion: 'Be quiet and listen' when the imam is delivering the Khutbah, you have engaged in idle speech." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1577)
2.196 [Machine] The following heading translates to: "Who entered the mosque on Friday and the imam preached.
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ said, "If one of you comes while the imam is delivering the sermon or has already left, then let them pray two units (rak'ahs)."
[Machine] Abu Saeed and Marwan came to propose, so he stood up to pray two units of prayer. Then the guards came and prevented him, so he said, "I would not abandon them when I had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordering them."
[Machine] I saw Al-Hassan praying two units of prayer while the imam was delivering a sermon.
2.197 [Machine] In reading the Quran in the Friday sermon.
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic text into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon to us one day, and he recited Surah (chapter) Sajdah. When he reached the verse of prostration, he descended and performed the prostration."
2.198 [Machine] The Speech in the Sermon
[Machine] I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say, "A man entered the mosque on Friday, while the Prophet ﷺ was giving a sermon. The man was asked, 'Did you pray?' He replied, 'No.' The Prophet then said, 'Pray two units of prayer (Rak'ah).' Abu Muhammad said, 'I also say the same.'"
2.199 [Machine] In the palace of the sermon
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, "Indeed, the length of a man's prayer and the brevity of his sermon are indicative of his understanding of the religion, so prolong your prayers and shorten your sermons, for surely, eloquence lies in clear expression."
"I used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ and his prayer was moderate in length and his Khutbah was moderate in length." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1582)
2.200 [Machine] Sitting between the sermons
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver two khutbahs standing, and he would separate them by sitting. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1416)
The Apostle of Allah ﷺ gave two sermons between which he sat, recited the Qur'an and exhorted the people. (Using translation from Muslim 862a)
2.201 [Machine] How does the imam indicate in the sermon?
[Machine] "May Allah disfigure these hands, for I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the pulpit and he used to point with only his finger."
[Machine] "And he said, 'I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the pulpit, and he does not say anything with his finger except like this, and he pointed with his index finger at his side.'"
2.202 [Machine] The Place of the Imam When He Delivers a Sermon
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lean against a trunk before the pulpit was set up. When the pulpit was set up, he missed that trunk and we heard him longing for it. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand on it and tranquility prevailed.
“If I had not embraced it, it would have continued to grieve until the Day of Resurrection.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1415)
[Machine] The people in the city increased, causing the man to come and the people to come, and they could hardly hear the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before they returned from him. The people said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, the people have increased, and the one coming cannot hardly hear your words." He said, "So what do you want?" So he sent to a boy of the Ansar, a carpenter's wife, and to the outskirts of the forest, and they made for him two or three pulpits. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would sit on them and deliver his sermon. When they did that, the wooden plank on which he used to stand softened. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and placed his hand on it, and it became still.
2.203 [Machine] Reading in Friday prayer
What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited on Friday after reciting the Surah al-Jumu'ah (62). He replied: He used to recite, "Had the story of overwhelming event reached you ?" (88). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1123)
[Machine] We asked him what the Prophet ﷺ used to recite on Fridays along with the Surah in which the Friday is mentioned. He said, "He used to recite it along with the Surah Al-Ghashiyah."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite at the two 'Ids (festivals) and on Friday, "Glorify the name of your most high Lord." (87) and "Has the story of the overwhelming reached you?" (88) He said: When a festival ('Id) and a Friday coincided, he recited them both (at the two prayers). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1122)
2.204 [Machine] The hour mentioned in Friday
[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he started talking to me about the Torah until we came across a mention of the Day of Friday. So I said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There is an hour on Friday, during which no Muslim servant prays and asks Allah for something good, except that Allah will grant it to him.'"

They heard the Prophet say on his pulpit: "People should desist from failing to attend the congregations, otherwise Allah will seal their hearts, and they will be among the negligent." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 794)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the best of your days is the day of Friday. On it, Adam was created, and on it, the trumpet will be blown (signaling the Day of Judgment), and on it, people will be struck. So, increase your prayers upon me during it, for indeed, your prayers will be presented to me."
2.207 [Machine] What comes after the Friday prayer
It was narrated from Salim, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ used to pray two Rak’ah after Jumu’ah. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1131)

2.208 [Machine] In Al-Witr
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said: Allah the Exalted has given you an extra prayer which is better for you then the red camels (i.e. high breed camels). This is the witr which Allah has appointed for you between the night prayer and the daybreak. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1418)
Ibn Muhayriz said: A man from Banu Kinanah, named al-Makhdaji, heard a person called AbuMuhammad in Syria, saying: The witr is a duty (wajib). Al-Makhdaji said: So I went to Ubadah ibn as-Samit and informed him. Ubadah said: AbuMuhammad told a lie. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: There are five prayers which Allah has prescribed on His servants. If anyone offers them, not losing any of them, and not treating them lightly, Allah guarantees that He will admit him to Paradise. If anyone does not offer them, Allah does not take any responsibility for such a person. He may either punish him or admit him to Paradise. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1420)
