2. Book of Ṣalāh (7/9)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven every night in the last third of the night. He says, 'Who will call upon Me, so that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, so that I may give him? Who will seek My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?' This continues until dawn or the person offering the Fajr prayer leaves."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Our Lord who is blessed and exalted descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last one-third of the night remains, and says: Who supplicated Me so that I may answer him ? Who asks of Me so that I may give to him ? Who asks My forgiveness so that I may forgive him ? (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1315)
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Allah, the Most High, descends to the lower heaven every night and asks, 'Is there anyone who asks so that I may give to them? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so that I may forgive them?'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When half or two-thirds of the night passes, Allah descends to the lowest heaven and says, 'Is there anyone who asks of Me so that I may grant them? Is there anyone who seeks My forgiveness so that I may forgive them? Is there anyone who supplicates to Me so that I may answer them?' This continues until dawn breaks."
[Machine] He informed him that the Prophet ﷺ said something like it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When it is one-third or half of the night, then remember the descent."
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Were it not that it would be too difficult for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak every time of prayer, and I would have delayed Ishaʿ until the first third of the night had passed, because when the first third of the night has passed. Allah may he be exalted descends to the first heaven and stays there until dawn comes, and says: Is there any asking so that he might be given? Is there anyone praying so that he might be answered? Is there any sick person asking for healing so that he might be healed? Is there any sinner asking for forgiveness, so that he might be forgiven? A hadeeth like that of Abu Hurairah was narrated from ʿAli bin Abi Talib ؓ from the Prophet ﷺ Abi Talib. (Using translation from Aḥmad 967)
[Machine] Narrated by Ubaidullah bin Abu Raafi', the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , from his father, from Ali ibn Abi Talib, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , similar to the tradition of Abu Hurairah.
2.169 [Machine] The supplication during Tahajjud.
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for praying at midnight, he said: o Allah, be praise to Thee, Thou art the light of the heavens and the earth; and to Thee be praise; Thou are the maintainer of the heavens and the earth; and to Thee be praise, Thou art the heavens and the earth and what is between them; Thou art the truth, and Thy statement is truth; and Thy promise is the truth; and the visitation with Thee is true; and the Paradise is true and the Hell-fire is true and the Hour is true; O Allah, to Thee I turned my attention, and by Thee I disputed, and to Thee I brought forth my case, so forgive me my former and latter sins, and my secret and open sins, Thou art my deity, there is no deity but Thou. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 771)
2.170 [Machine] Whoever reads the two verses from the end of Surah Al-Baqarah.
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah in one night, it is sufficient for him."
2.171 [Machine] Recitation of the Quran
Allah has not heard anything (more pleasing) than listening to the Prophet reciting the Qur'an in a sweet loud voice. (Using translation from Muslim 793b)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard the recitation of Abu Musa and said: 'This man has been given a Mizmar among the Mazamir of the family of Dawud, peace be upon him.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1020)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who does not find delight in the Quran."
[Machine] "From the Prophet, peace be upon him, he said: 'Allah has not granted permission for something that He has granted permission to a prophet to indulge in reciting the Qur'an.' Abu Muhammad said: 'He intends to be self-sufficient through it.'"
2.172 [Machine] Mother of the Quran: It is the Seven Oft-Repeated (verses)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me and said, "Did not Allah say: 'O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you' [Quran 8:24]?" Then he said, "Shall I not teach you a Surah that is the greatest Surah in the Quran before I leave the mosque?" When he wanted to leave, he said, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds" and it is the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Quran that you have been given.
2.173 [Machine] In how many parts is the Quran divided?
The Prophet ﷺ said: He who recites the Qur'an in a period less than three days does not understand it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1394)
2.174 [Machine] The man does not know whether he prayed three or four.
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the call for prayer is made, Satan takes to his heels passing wind so that he may not hear the Adhan and when the call is finished he comes back, and when the Iqama is pronounced, Satan again takes to his heels, and when the Iqama is finished he comes back again and tries to interfere with the person and his thoughts and say, "Remember this and that (which he has not thought of before the prayer)", till the praying person forgets how much he has prayed. If anyone of you does not remember whether he has offered three or four rakʿat then he should perform two prostrations of Sahu while sitting. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1231)
The Prophet ﷺ said: "If one of you does not know whether he prayed three or four (rak'ahs), let him pray a rak'ah then prostrate twice after that when he is sitting. Then if he prayed five (rak'ahs), they (the two prostrations) will make his prayer even-numbered, and if he had prayed four, they will annoy and humiliate the shaitan." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1239)
2.175 [Machine] In the prostration of inadvertence from excess
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed one of the evening prayers, then he performed two additional units of prayer, and then he said the salaam and stood on a wooden platform inside the mosque. He placed his hand on it, and said, "Yazeed and Ibn Awun showed us this." He placed one hand on the other, with the upper hand on the lower one and entered his upper fingers into the lower fingers, pressing them together, and he stood as if he was angry. Immediately, some people left and began saying, "The prayer has been shortened, the prayer has been shortened." Among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar, but they did not speak. Among the people, there was a tall man with long arms named Dhu al-Yadayn (the one with two hands), who said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you forget the prayer or was it shortened?" He ﷺ said, "I did not forget, nor was the prayer shortened." He said, "Is it like that?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Then he returned and completed what remained, then said the salaam and pronounced the takbeer. He prostrated for a long time, then raised his head and pronounced the takbeer, and prostrated again as he did the first time, then raised his head and left."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Dhuhr or Asr prayer, and then he performed the tasleem after two units of one of them. Zul-Shimalayn ibn 'Abd Amr ibn Nadlah al-Khuzai, who was an ally of the Banu Zuhrah and shorter than others, said to him, "Did you shorten the prayer, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I did not forget nor did I shorten." Then Zul-Shimalayn said, "Some of us saw you doing so, O Messenger of Allah." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to the people and said, "Who do you believe, the one with two hands?" They replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and completed the prayer, and no one among them informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two prostrations while sitting in that prayer. And this is what is witnessed, and Allah knows best, as people were content with the certainty of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until they were certain.
[Machine] From the Prophet of Allah ﷺ , it is narrated that he prayed five units of the Dhuhr prayer. When asked about it, he performed two additional prostrations.
2.176 [Machine] If there is a deficiency in prayer
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer praying two rak'ahs. When he stood up and did not sit (at the end of two rak'ahs) the people stood up along with him. When he finished the prayer and we expect him to give the salutation, he said: "Allah is most great." While sitting and made two prostrations before giving the salutation. Then he gave it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1034)
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up from the two units of the Dhuhr or Asr prayer and did not return until he finished his prayer, then he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he made the salaam."
"Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah les us in Salat. When he prayed two Rak'ah he stood without sitting. Those who were behind him said 'Subhan Allah' and he indicated to them that they should stand. He said the Taslim when he had finished his Salat and he performed two prostrations of As-Sahw, and said the Taslim. He said that Messenger of Allah did this." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 365)
2.177 [Machine] Prohibition of Speaking in Prayer
[Machine] While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in prayer, a man from the people sneezed, so I said, "May Allah have mercy on you." The people stared at me with their eyes, so I said, "May you be struck and blinded! Why are you looking at me?" They struck their thighs with their hands, and when I saw them silent, I said, "Why are you silencing me? But I remained silent." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, I swear by my father and mother that I have never seen a better teacher before or after him. By Allah, he did not hit, scold, or insult me, but he said, "Our prayer does not allow anything of the people's talk in it, it is only for glorification (of Allah), Takbeer (Allah is the Greatest), and recitation of the Quran."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ enjoined killing the two black ones (snakes and scorpions) while praying. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1203)
2.179 [Machine] The shortening of prayer during travel
[Machine] "To shorten the prayer if you fear" [4:101]. This means that people have already accepted it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I am amazed at what you are amazed at. Allah has granted you a charity, so accept it."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two Rak'ahs in Mina, Abu Bakr prayed two Rak'ahs, Umar prayed two Rak'ahs, and Uthman prayed two Rak'ahs, leading from his position, and then completed them afterward.
"I prayed Zuhr with the Prophet ﷺ in Al-Madinah, four Rak'ahs and 'Asr in Dhul-Hulaifah, two Rak'ahs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 469)
I prayed along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ four rak'ahs at the noon prayer at Medina and two rak'ahs at the afternoon prayer in Dhu al-Hulaifah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1202)
[Machine] "The prayer was initially ordained with two units (rak'ahs). Then the prayer of travel (safar) was established with a shortened form, while the prayer of residence (hadar) was performed in its complete form." So I asked, "What was the reason for completing the prayer during travel?" He (Uthman) said, "It was interpreted (or understood) in this way as Uthman had also interpreted it."

2.181 [Machine] Prayer upon the departed
The Prophet ﷺ used to pray (the Nawafil) on his Mount facing east and whenever he wanted to offer the compulsory prayer, he used to dismount and face the Qibla. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1099)
I saw the Prophet ﷺ on his Mount praying Nawafil by nodding his head, whatever direction he faced, but Messenger of Allah ﷺ never did the same in offering the compulsory prayers. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1097)

the Messenger of Allah joined Maghrib and Isha in Jam (Al-Muzdalifah). (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3026)
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a hurry to travel, he would combine Maghrib and 'Isha'. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 598)

2.185 [Machine] In the prayer of fear
"I went out on a campaign with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Najd. We confronted the enemy and formed ranks facing them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and led us in prayer. Some of us stood with him and some of us faced the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed and those who were with him bowed, and prostrated twice. Then they moved away and took the place of the others, and the other group who had not prayed came and he led them in bowing once and prostrating twice. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the salam and each of the Muslims stood up and bowed once, and prostrated twice individually." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1539)

2.186 [Machine] Abstaining From Prayer
[Machine] "We were besieged during the Battle of Al-Khandaq (the Trench) until the darkness of night arrived and we were relieved. This is the saying of Allah the Almighty, "And Allah was sufficient for the believers in battle, and ever is Allah Powerful and Exalted in Might." [Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:25]. The Prophet ﷺ then called Bilal and commanded him to call the Adhan (the Muslim call to prayer). He performed the Zuhr prayer perfectly, as he used to pray it in its proper time. Then he commanded him and he established the Asr prayer, and he performed it as well. Then he commanded him and he established the Maghrib prayer, and he performed it. Then he commanded him and he established the Isha prayer, and he performed it." [This happened] before the revelation of the verse "And if you fear [an enemy, then pray] on foot or riding." [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:239].

2.187 [Machine] Prayers at the eclipse
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death of someone from the people but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them stand up and pray." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1041)
[Machine] "The Prophet (pbuh) prayed eight units of prayer in four prostrations during an eclipse."
[Machine] May Allah protect you from the torment of the grave. When the Prophet ﷺ came, she asked him, "How do people get punished in their graves?" He replied, "By seeking refuge in Allah."
