The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer praying two rak'ahs. When he stood up and did not sit (at the end of two rak'ahs) the people stood up along with him. When he finished the prayer and we expect him to give the salutation, he said: "Allah is most great." While sitting and made two prostrations before giving the salutation. Then he gave it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1034)   

«صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ وَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ وَقَامَ النَّاسُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ نَظَرْنَا تَسْلِيمَهُ فَكَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ»  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up from the two units of the Dhuhr or Asr prayer and did not return until he finished his prayer, then he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he made the salaam."  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ مِنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ أَوِ الْعَصْرِ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ الْوَهْمِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ»  

"Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah les us in Salat. When he prayed two Rak'ah he stood without sitting. Those who were behind him said 'Subhan Allah' and he indicated to them that they should stand. He said the Taslim when he had finished his Salat and he performed two prostrations of As-Sahw, and said the Taslim. He said that Messenger of Allah did this." أَنْ قُومُوا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ سَلَّمَ وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ «هَكَذَا صَنَعَ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ»
