53. Fighting Rebellion (3/6)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mercy is not taken away except from a wretched person, three times."
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "I advise the Khalifa (successor) after me to have taqwa (fear of Allah) and I advise him to honor the elders among the Muslims, show mercy to the young ones, and respect their scholars. He should not strike them to humiliate them nor abandon them to disown them. He should not differentiate among them and cut off their lineage, and he should not close the door without them so the strong ones eat and the weak ones starve."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to give vent to it, Allah, the Exalted, will call him on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of all creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes. Abu Dawud said: The name of the transmitter Abu Marhum is 'Abd al-Rahman b. Maimun (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4777)
[Machine] Shuayb informed me and Abu Abdullah Al-Hafidh and Abu Bakr Al-Qadi said: Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad bin Ya'qub narrated to me, who narrated to me Muhammad bin Khalid, who narrated to me Bishr bin Shuayb, from his father, from Al-Zuhri, who informed me that Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah said: Abdullah bin Abbas arrived where Ibn Aqil bin Qais bin Hisn was staying, and he was one of the chosen ones who Umar bin Khattab respected. The reciters were companions of Umar's meetings and consultations, whether they were elders or young men. Uyaina said to his nephew, "O my nephew, do you have any influence with this leader, so that you can seek permission for me to meet him?" He replied, "I will seek permission for you to meet him." Ibn Abbas said, "Al-Hurr sought permission for Uyaina, and Umar gave him permission. When Uyaina entered, Umar said to him, "O son of Al-Khattab, you do not give us what is due and you do not judge among us with justice." Umar became so angry that he intended to harm him. Al-Hurr said to him, "O Commander of the Believers, Allah, the Exalted, said to His Prophet ﷺ , 'Take to forgiveness and enjoin what is good and turn away from the ignorant.' (Quran 7:199). And this behavior is from the ignorant." Uyaina said, "By Allah, Umar did not exceed those limits when he recited it on him (i.e., Uyaina). He was always strict in adhering to the words of Allah, while the decision is for the ruler, Abu Abdullah."

53.16 [Machine] The virtue of the just Imam
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but His. (These seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah (i.e. worships Allah sincerely from childhood), a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the mosque in congregation), two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity), and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears." (Using translation from Bukhārī 660)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are three whose supplications are never rejected: the just leader, the fasting person until they break their fast, and the supplication of the oppressed which is carried by the clouds, and the gates of the heavens are opened for it, and the Lord says to it, 'By My might, I will surely aid you, even if it is after a while.' And the conclusion of this passage, and what comes before it, is in the book of Al-Siyar, and then in the book of the etiquettes of the judge."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A day with a just leader is better than sixty years of worship, and a unified prayer performed on earth is purer therein than forty days of rain."
[Machine] "From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : A man once came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, there is a town upon my journey that does not have a ruler, should I enter it?' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'If you come across a town that has no ruler, do not enter it, for the ruler is the shade of Allah on earth, and his spear spreads the rule of Allah on earth.'"
[Machine] That people will not cease to be in good as long as they adhere to their leaders and follow their guidance.
[Machine] Your time is only as good as your authority. When your authority is good, your time is good, and when your authority is corrupt, your time is corrupt.
[Machine] I heard Abu Hazim saying, "People will continue to be in a state of goodness as long as these desires do not enter the ruler. They are the ones who protect the people. But once these desires enter them, then who will protect them?
[Machine] Abu Abdullah Al-Hafidh informed us that Abu Abdullah Al-San'ani narrated to us, who reported from Ishaq ibn Ibrahim Al-Dabbari, who reported from Abdur-Razzaq, who reported from Ma'mar, who reported from Ibn Tawus, who reported from his father, that Umar ibn Al-Khattab said, "What do you think if I appointed over you the most knowledgeable person and commanded him with justice, would I have fulfilled my responsibility?" They said, "Yes." He said, "No, until I see how he acts and whether he follows my commands or not."

53.17 [Machine] The advice for Allah, His Book, His Messenger, Muslim leaders, their followers, and the obligation to respect a just ruler.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Verily, Allah is pleased with three things for you and dislikes three things for you. He is pleased that you worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, that you hold fast to the rope of Allah all together and do not separate, and that you advise whoever is in charge of your affairs. He dislikes that you spread gossip, indulge in excessive questioning, and waste wealth." Atta' bin Yazid al-Laythi reported that he heard Tamim ad-Dari say, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, 'Verily, religion is sincere advice.' We asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, to whom?' He said, 'To Allah, His Book, His Messengers, and the leaders of the Muslims and their common people.'" Muslim narrated the first hadith in Sahih from Zuhayr ibn Harb and others from Jarir.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Verily, the religion is sincerity. Verily, the religion is sincerity. Verily, the religion is sincerity." It was asked, "To whom, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "To Allah, His Book, His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common people."
The Prophet ﷺ said: Glorifying Allah involves showing honour to a grey-haired Muslim and to one who can expound the Qur'an, but not to one who acts extravagantly regarding it, or turns away from it, and showing honour to a just ruler. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4843)
[Machine] Mirdas, Abu Bilal, don't you see the leader of the people and their master wearing the garment of the righteous and resembling the corrupt? So Abu Bakra heard him and said to his son Al-Usaili, "Invite Abu Bilal for me." So he called him and Abu Bakra said, "Indeed, I have heard your statement about the leader earlier, and I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever honors the authority of Allah, Allah will honor him, and whoever humiliates the authority of Allah, Allah will humiliate him.'"

[Machine] That 'Iyad bin Ghanm Al-Ash'ari met a man when he entered a house. Hisham bin Hakim came to him and spoke harshly to him. Hisham stayed with him for a few nights, then came and apologized to him, saying, "O 'Iyad, did you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The severest of people in punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be those severest in punishment to the people in this worldly life'?" 'Iyad replied, "O Hisham, we have heard what you have heard, seen what you have seen, and accompanied those you have accompanied. Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever possesses advice for a ruler, let him not speak of it in public or address it directly to him. Rather, let him take hold of his hand (emphasizing humility) and convey the advice to him. If he accepts it, then it is good. Otherwise, he has fulfilled his duty towards Allah and towards him.' Also, Hisham, are you not bold enough to dare speak to the ruler of Allah (referring to Hisham's boldness towards 'Iyad)? Why then do you not fear that the ruler of Allah may kill you, making you the killer of the ruler of Allah?" Their conversation ended on equal terms.

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

[Machine] His grandfather said to him, "O Fulan, why do you enter among these people and make them laugh?" For I heard Bilal ibn Al-Harith Al-Muzani, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrating that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, a servant speaks a word that pleases Allah, thinking that it may not reach what it has reached, and Allah is pleased with it on his behalf until the day he meets Him. And indeed, a servant speaks a word that angers Allah, thinking that it may not reach what it has reached, and Allah is angered by it until the day he meets Him.
[Machine] Indeed, I have seen you entering among these princes and enveloping them, so see what you are explaining to them. For I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say: "Indeed, a man may speak a word of goodness without knowing its weight, and Allah writes his satisfaction with it until the day he meets Him. And indeed, a man may speak a word of evil without knowing its weight, and Allah writes His displeasure with him until the day he meets Him." So Alqamah used to say: "Many conversations have taken place between him and me that I have not heard from Bilal."

[Machine] He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us while we were in the mosque, and I was the ninth of nine. He said to us, "Do you listen? Are you listening?" Three times he said, "It is certain that there will be leaders over you. Whoever visits them and supports them in their wrongdoing, he is not of me and I am not of him. He will not come to my pond on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever visits them and does not support them in their wrongdoing, he is of me and I am of him. He will come to my pond on the Day of Resurrection." He said, "And Sahl bin Saad also narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, 'How will you be when you are left in the worst people? People will betray their trust and break their covenants.' They said, 'Then what should we do, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Take what you know and leave what you disapprove of.' Then he specifically addressed Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As and said, 'What do you command me to do in this situation, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'I command you to have Taqwa of Allah in yourself and your affairs in general.'

So they came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] and asked him about nine clear signs. He said to them: 'Do not associate anything with Allah, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not kill any soul whom Allah has forbidden you to kill, except by right, do not speak falsely about an innocent man before a ruler, do not engage in magic, do not consume Riba (usury), do not slander chaste women, and do not flee on the day of the march (to battle). He then threw his cloak over me, turned towards his companions and said, "If a noble person from a tribe comes to you, honor him." And he mentioned the Hadith which contains the phrase, "And he never saw me after that except that he would smile in my face." And there is a witness for this Hadith from the narration of Ash-Sha'bi from the Prophet ﷺ, (who transmitted it).
[Machine] "People continue to have certain needs and it is important to honor the needs of people. So, it is sufficient for a weak Muslim to be treated fairly and justly in matters of justice and distribution."
53.24 [Machine] What was mentioned in the battle of the people of rebellion and the Khawarij
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ heard saying: "There will be divisions and divisions, so whoever wants to separate the affairs of this Ummah (Muslim community), even though they are all together, then strike his head with a sword, whoever he may be."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be trials and tribulations, and whoever among you sees someone inciting division among the Ummah of Muhammad, then kill him."
" Kill all of them." I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When you are holding to one single man as your leader, you should kill who seeks to undermine your solidarity or disrupt your unity. (Using translation from Muslim 1852c)
[Machine] I was sitting with him in the shade of the Kaaba, and he was addressing the people, saying, "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during a journey. So we stopped at a resting place, and among us were those who would strike their tents, and among us were those who were still in the process of packing, and among us were those who were confused when the caller of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for congregational prayer and said, 'Indeed, the congregational prayer is about to begin.' So I approached him while he was delivering his sermon to the people and saying, 'O people, there was never a prophet before me except that it was incumbent upon him to guide his nation to what he knew was good for them and to warn them of what he knew was evil for them. So verily, the well-being of this nation is in its early days, and its latter days will be afflicted with trials and tribulations that will come one after the other. When trials come, the believer will say, 'This is my destruction.' Then it will be lifted, only for another to come, and the believer will say, 'This is my destruction.' Then it will be lifted, only for another to come, and the believer will say, 'This is my destruction.' Then it will be lifted. So whoever wishes to be saved from the Fire and enter Paradise should let his death overtake him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day and brings to the people that which he himself desires to be brought to him. And whoever gives his pledge of allegiance to an Imam, giving him the clasp of his hand and the fruit of his heart, then let him obey him as much as he can.' He also once said, 'If anyone disputes with you, strike his neck!' When I heard that, I buried my head between my legs and said, 'Your cousin Mu'awiyah commands us to kill ourselves and to consume our wealth unlawfully while Allah says, 'And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.' ' He then placed his hand on his forehead, and then he bent down, and then he raised his head and said, 'Obey him in obedience to Allah, and disobey him in disobedience to Allah.' I said, 'Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?' He said, 'Yes, I heard it with my own ears and kept it preserved in my heart, the words of Waki'.'

‘Ali sent some gold-mixed dust to the prophet (May peace be upon him). He divided it among the four : al-Aqra b. Habis al-Hanzall and then al-Mujashi, uyainah b. Badr al-fazari, zaid al-khail al-Ta’l, next to one of Banu nabhan, and ‘Alqamah b. ‘Ulathat al-Amiri (in general), next to one of Banu kulaib. The Quraish and the ansar became angry and said : He is giving to the chiefs of the people of Najd and leaving us. He said : I am giving them for reconciliation of their hearts. Then a man with deep-seated eyes, high cheek-bones, a projecting brow, a thick beard and a shaven head came forward and said: For Allah, Muhammad! He said : Who will obey Allah if I disobey Him? Allah entrusts me with power over the inhabitants of the earth, but you do not. A man asked to be allowed to kill him and I think he was Khalid b. al-Walid but he prevented him. Then when the man turned away, he said: From this one’s stock there will be people who recite the Quran, but it will not pass down their throats. They will sever from Islam and leave the worshippers of Idols alone; but if I live up to their time I shall certainly kill them as 'Ad were killed. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4764)
