nasai-kubra:174Isḥāq b. Manṣūr > ʿUbaydullāh > Shaybān > Yaḥyá b. Abū Kathīr > Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm > Muʿādh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Ḥumrān b. Abān > Atayt ʿUthmān Biṭahūr Fatawaḍḍaʾ Faʾaḥsan al-Wuḍūʾ Thum

I came to ‘Uthman bin ʿAffan ؓ when he was sitting in al-Maqaʿid. He did wudoo and did it well, then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was in this place; he did wudoo’ and did it well, then he said: “Whoever does wudoo’ as I have done, then goes to the mosque and prays two rakats, his previous sins will be forgiven.” And he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿDo not become complacent.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 459)   

الكبرى للنسائي:١٧٤أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاذُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ حُمْرَانَ بْنَ أَبَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بِطَهُورٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ هَذَا الْوُضُوءِ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَكَعَ فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ»

I saw ‘ Uthman’ b. ‘Affan while he performed ablution. He poured water over his hands three times and then washed them. He then rinsed his mouth and then cleansed his nose with water (three times). He then washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then washed his left arm in a similar manner; then wiped his head; then washed his right foot three times, then washed his left foot in a similar manner, and then said : I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing ablution like this ablution of mine. Then he (the Prophet) said: He who performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then offered two rakhahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, Allah will pardon all his past sins. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 106)

وقال رسول الله ﷺ : ولا تغتروا".

The Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection the Believers will assemble and say, 'Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'You are the father of all the people, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the angels to prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things; so please intercede for us with your Lord, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this (i.e. intercession for you).' Then Adam will remember his sin and feel ashamed thereof. He will say, 'Go to Noah, for he was the first Apostle, Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth.' They will go to him and Noah will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' He will remember his appeal to his Lord to do what he had no knowledge of, then he will feel ashamed thereof and will say, 'Go to the Khalil--r-Rahman (i.e. Abraham).' They will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. Go to Moses, the slave to whom Allah spoke (directly) and gave him the Torah .' So they will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' and he will mention (his) killing a person who was not a killer, and so he will feel ashamed thereof before his Lord, and he will say, 'Go to Jesus, Allah's Slave, His Apostle and Allah's Word and a Spirit coming from Him. Jesus will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, go to Muhammad the Slave of Allah whose past and future sins were forgiven by Allah.' So they will come to me and I will proceed till I will ask my Lord's Permission and I will be given permission. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in Prostration and He will let me remain in that state as long as He wishes and then I will be addressed.' (Muhammad!) Raise your head. Ask, and your request will be granted; say, and your saying will be listened to; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.' I will raise my head and praise Allah with a saying (i.e. invocation) He will teach me, and then I will intercede. He will fix a limit for me (to intercede for) whom I will admit into Paradise. Then I will come back again to Allah, and when I see my Lord, the same thing will happen to me. And then I will intercede and Allah will fix a limit for me to intercede whom I will let into Paradise, then I will come back for the third time; and then I will come back for the fourth time, and will say, 'None remains in Hell but those whom the Qur'an has imprisoned (in Hell) and who have been destined to an eternal stay in Hell.' " (The compiler) Abu ʿAbdullah said: 'But those whom the Qur'an has imprisoned in Hell,' refers to the Statement of Allah: "They will dwell therein forever." (16.29)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَالَ لِي خَلِيفَةُ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَجْتَمِعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ أَبُو النَّاسِ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ وَعَلَّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ ذَنْبَهُ فَيَسْتَحِي ائْتُوا نُوحًا فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَيَسْتَحِي فَيَقُولُ ائْتُوا خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ قَتْلَ النَّفْسِ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ فَيَسْتَحِي مِنْ رَبِّهِ فَيَقُولُ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَكَلِمَةَ اللَّهِ وَرُوحَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَنْطَلِقُ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيُؤْذَنُ {لِي} فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي مِثْلَهُ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ {ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّالِثَةَ} ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَأَقُولُ مَا بَقِيَ فِي النَّارِ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ وَوَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ يَعْنِي قَوْلَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى {خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا}

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah will gather the believers on the Day of Resurrection in the same way (as they are gathered in this life), and they will say, 'Let us ask someone to intercede for us with our Lord that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Then they will go to Adam and say, 'O Adam! Don't you see the people (people's condition)? Allah created you with His Own Hands and ordered His angels to prostrate before you, and taught you the names of all the things. Please intercede for us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking' and mention to them the mistakes he had committed, and add, "But you d better go to Noah as he was the first Apostle sent by Allah to the people of the Earth.' They will go to Noah who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention the mistake which he made, and add, 'But you'd better go to Abraham, Khalil Ar-Rahman.' They will go to Abraham who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention to them the mistakes he made, and add, 'But you'd better go to Moses, a slave whom Allah gave the Torah and to whom He spoke directly' They will go to Moses who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention to them the mistakes he made, and add, 'You'd better go to Jesus, Allah's slave and His Apostle and His Word (Be: And it was) and a soul created by Him.' They will go to Jesus who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, but you'd better go to Muhammad whose sins of the past and the future had been forgiven (by Allah).' So they will come to me and I will ask the permission of my Lord, and I will be permitted (to present myself) before Him. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in (prostration) before Him and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then it will be said to me, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then raise my head and praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit whom I will admit into Paradise. I will come back again, and when I see my Lord (again), I will fall down in prostration before Him, and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then He will say, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit to whom I will admit into Paradise, I will return again, and when I see my Lord, I will fall down (in prostration) and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then He will say, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit to whom I will admit into Paradise. I will come back and say, 'O my Lord! None remains in Hell (Fire) but those whom Qur'an has imprisoned therein and for whom eternity in Hell (Fire) has become inevitable.' " The Prophet ﷺ added, "There will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a barley grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: ' La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a wheat grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of an atom (or a smallest ant).  

البخاري:٧٤١٠حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاذُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا آدَمُ أَمَا تَرَى النَّاسَ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ وَعَلَّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَفِّعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكَ وَيَذْكُرُ لَهُمْ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ لَهُمْ خَطَايَاهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا أَتَاهُ اللَّهُ التَّوْرَاةَ وَكَلَّمَهُ تَكْلِيمًا فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ لَهُمْ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَكَلِمَتَهُ وَرُوحَهُ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَنْطَلِقُ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ لَهُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ لِي ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ عَلَّمَنِيهَا ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَرْجِعُ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ عَلَّمَنِيهَا رَبِّي ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَرْجِعُ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ عَلَّمَنِيهَا ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَرْجِعُ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِيَ فِي النَّارِ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ وَوَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ شَعِيرَةً ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ بُرَّةً ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَا يَزِنُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ ذَرَّةً

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The believers will be kept (waiting) on the Day of Resurrection so long that they will become worried and say, "Let us ask somebody to intercede far us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from our place. Then they will go to Adam and say, 'You are Adam, the father of the people. Allah created you with His Own Hand and made you reside in His Paradise and ordered His angels to prostrate before you, and taught you the names of all things will you intercede for us with your Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours? Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' He will mention his mistakes he had committed, i.e., his eating off the tree though he had been forbidden to do so. He will add, 'Go to Noah, the first prophet sent by Allah to the people of the Earth.' The people will go to Noah who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking' He will mention his mistake which he had done, i.e., his asking his Lord without knowledge.' He will say (to them), 'Go to Abraham, Khalil Ar-Rahman.' They will go to Abraham who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. He would mention three words by which he told a lie, and say (to them). 'Go to Moses, a slave whom Allah gave the Torah and spoke to, directly and brought near Him, for conversation.' They will go to Moses who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. He will mention his mistake he made, i.e., killing a person, and will say (to them), 'Go to Jesus, Allah's slave and His Apostle, and a soul created by Him and His Word.' (Be: And it was.) They will go to Jesus who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking but you'd better go to Muhammad the slave whose past and future sins have been forgiven by Allah.' So they will come to me, and I will ask my Lord's permission to enter His House and then I will be permitted. When I see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him, and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He will, and then He will say, 'O Muhammad, lift up your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask (for anything) for it will be granted:' Then I will raise my head and glorify my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me. Allah will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people) I will take them out and make them enter Paradise." (Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that), the Prophet ﷺ said, "I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, and then I will return and ask my Lord for permission to enter His House and I will be permitted. When I will see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him and He will leave me in prostration as long as He will let me (in that state), and then He will say, 'O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask, your request will be granted.' " The Prophet ﷺ added, "So I will raise my head and glorify and praise Him as He has taught me. Then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people). I will take them out and let them enter Paradise." (Qatada added: I heard Anas saying that) the Prophet said, 'I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, and I will return for the third time and will ask my Lord for permission to enter His house, and I will be allowed to enter. When I see Him, I will fall down in prostration before Him, and will remain in prostration as long as He will, and then He will say, 'Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask, for your request will be granted.' So I will raise my head and praise Allah as He has taught me and then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people). I will take them out and let them enter Paradise." (Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that) the Prophet ﷺ said, "So I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, till none will remain in the Fire except those whom Quran will imprison (i.e., those who are destined for eternal life in the fire)." The narrator then recited the Verse:-- "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Station of Praise and Glory.' (17.79) The narrator added: This is the Station of Praise and Glory which Allah has promised to your Prophet.  

البخاري:٧٤٤٠وَقَالَ حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يُحْبَسُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يُهِمُّوا بِذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا فَيُرِيحُنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ أَبُو النَّاسِ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ وَعَلَّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ لِتَشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ قَالَ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ أَكْلَهُ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَقَدْ نُهِيَ عَنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا أَوَّلَ نَبِيٍّ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ ثَلاَثَ كَلِمَاتٍ كَذَبَهُنَّ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا آتَاهُ اللَّهُ التَّوْرَاةَ وَكَلَّمَهُ وَقَرَّبَهُ نَجِيًّا قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ قَتْلَهُ النَّفْسَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَرُوحَ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتَهُ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فِي دَارِهِ فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي فَيَقُولُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ قَالَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأُثْنِي عَلَى رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَيْضًا يَقُولُ فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فِي دَارِهِ فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ قَالَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأُثْنِي عَلَى رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فِي دَارِهِ فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ قَالَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأُثْنِي عَلَى رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى مَا يَبْقَى فِي النَّارِ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ أَىْ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ قَالَ ثُمَّ تَلاَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ {عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا} قَالَ وَهَذَا الْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُودُ الَّذِي وُعِدَهُ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ  

muslim:193aAbū Kāmil Fuḍayl b. Ḥusayn al-Jaḥdarī And Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd al-Ghubarī Wa-al-Lafẓ Lʾabī Kāmil > Abū ʿAwānah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah would gather people on the Day of Resurrection and they would be concerned about it, and Ibn Ubaid said. They would get a Divine inspiration about it, and would say: If we could seek intercession with our Lord, we may be relieved from this predicament of ours. He (the Holy Prophet) said: They would come to Adam andsay, Thou art Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created thee with His own hand and breathed unto thee of His Spirit and commanded the angels and they prostrated before thee. So intercede for us with thy Lords, that He may relieve us from this position of ours. He would say: I am not in a position to do this, and would recall his error, and would fight shy of his Lord on account of that; go to Noah the first messenger (after me) sent by Allah. He (the Holy Prophet) said: So they would come to Noah (peace be upon him). He would say: I am not in a position to do that for you, and recall his fault which he had committed, and would fight shy of his Lord on account of that, (and would say): You better go to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) whom Allah took for a friend. They would come to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and he would say: I am not in a position to do that for you, and would recall his fault that he had committed and would, therefore, fight shy of his Lord on that account (and would say): You better go to Moses (peace be upon him) with whom Allah conversed and con- ferred Torah upon him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: So they would come to Moses (peace be upon him) He would say: I am not in a position to do that for you, and would recall his fault that he had committed and would fight shy of his Lord on account of that (and would say): You better go to Jesus, the Spirit of Allah and His word He would say: I am not in a position to do that for you; you better go to Muhammad ﷺ, a servant whose former and later sins have been forgiven. He (the narrator) said: The Messenger or Allah ﷺ observed: So they would come to me and I would ask the permission of my Lord and it would be granted to me, and when I would see Him, I would fall down in prostration, and He (Allah) would leave me thus as long as He would wish, and then it would be said: O Muhammad, raise your head, say and you would be heard; ask and it would be granted; intercede and intercession would be accepted. Then I would raise my head and extrol my Lord with the praise which my Lord would teach me. I shall then inter- cede, but a limit would be set for me I would bring them out from the Fire and make them enter Paradise (according to the limit). I shall return then ard fall down in pros- tration and Allah would leave me (in that position) as long as He would wish to leave me it would be said: Rise, O Muhammad, say and you would be heard; ask and it would be conferred; intercede and intercession would be granted. I would raise my head and extrol my Lord with praise that He would teach me. I would theft intercede and a limit would be set for me. I would bring them out of the Fire (of Hell) and make them enter Paradise. He (the narrator) said: I do not remember whether he (the Holy Prophet) said at tLe third time or at the fourth time: O my Lord, none has been left in the Fire, but thise restrained by the Holy Qur'an, i e. those who were eternally doomed. Ibn Ubaid said in a narration: Qatada observed: whose everlasting stay was imperative".  

مسلم:١٩٣aحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْغُبَرِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لأَبِي كَامِلٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَهْتَمُّونَ لِذَلِكَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فَيُلْهَمُونَ لِذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا عَلَى رَبِّنَا حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ ﷺ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ أَبُو الْخَلْقِ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وَأَمَرَ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ اشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ فَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا أَوَّلَ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا ﷺ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ فَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ ﷺ الَّذِي اتَّخَذَهُ اللَّهُ خَلِيلاً فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ﷺ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى ﷺ الَّذِي كَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى رُوحَ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتَهُ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى رُوحَ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدًا قَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي فَإِذَا أَنَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَيُقَالُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ رَبِّي ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ فَأَقَعُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ فَلاَ أَدْرِي فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ قَالَ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِيَ فِي النَّارِ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ أَىْ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ قَالَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ أَىْ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ  

ibnmajah:4312Naṣr b. ʿAlī > Khālid b. al-Ḥārith > Saʿīd > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

“The believers will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, inspired or worried.” – Sa’eed was not sure – “And they will say: ‘If we seek someone to intercede for us with our Lord, we may find relief from our situation.’ So they will go to Adam and will say: ‘You are Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created you with His Hand and His angels prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord, that He might grant us relief from our situation.’ He will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention to them and complain of the sin that he committed. He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to Nuh, for he is the first Messenger whom Allah sent to the people of earth.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention of how he asked of Allah that of which he had no knowledge.* He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to the Close Friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Musa, a slave to whom Allah spoke and to whom He gave the Torah.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention how he killed a soul, not in retaliation for murder (and will say): ‘Rather go to ‘Isa, the slave of Allah and His Messenger, the Word of Allah and a spirit created by Him.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Muhammad, a slave whose past and future sins Allah forgave.’ So they will come to me and I will go with them.” – There was a similar report from Hasan who added (the Prophet ﷺ said:) And I will walk between two rows of the believers.” Then he went back to the Hadith of Anas. – And he said: “And I will ask my Lord for permission and permission will be given to me. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a second time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a third time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a fourth time and will say: ‘O Lord, there is no one left except those who are detained by the Qur’an.’” ** Qatadah (the Tabi'ee in the chain) would narrate after this hadith that Anas (ra) said "Those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' (there is no god except Allah) and had the weight of a grain of barley in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of wheat in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of dust in good in his heart will come out of the Fire."  

ابن ماجة:٤٣١٢حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَجْتَمِعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُلْهَمُونَ أَوْ يَهُمُّونَ شَكَّ سَعِيدٌ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوْ تَشَفَّعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا فَأَرَاحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ أَبُو النَّاسِ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ يُرِحْنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ وَيَشْكُو إِلَيْهِمْ ذَنْبَهُ الَّذِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الأَرْضِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَيَسْتَحْيِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ قَتْلَهُ النَّفْسَ بِغَيْرِ النَّفْسِ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَكَلِمَةَ اللَّهِ وَرُوحَهُ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَنْطَلِقُ قَالَ فَذَكَرَ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ فَأَمْشِي بَيْنَ السِّمَاطَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ لِي ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِيِّ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِيَ إِلاَّ مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ يَقُولُ قَتَادَةُ عَلَى أَثَرِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ شَعِيرَةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ بُرَّةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ

“The believers will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, inspired or worried.” – Sa’eed was not sure – “And they will say: ‘If we seek someone to intercede for us with our Lord, we may find relief from our situation.’ So they will go to Adam and will say: ‘You are Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created you with His Hand and His angels prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord, that He might grant us relief from our situation.’ He will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention to them and complain of the sin that he committed. He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to Nuh, for he is the first Messenger whom Allah sent to the people of earth.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention of how he asked of Allah that of which he had no knowledge.* He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to the Close Friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Musa, a slave to whom Allah spoke and to whom He gave the Torah.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention how he killed a soul, not in retaliation for murder (and will say): ‘Rather go to ‘Isa, the slave of Allah and His Messenger, the Word of Allah and a spirit created by Him.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Muhammad, a slave whose past and future sins Allah forgave.’ So they will come to me and I will go with them.” – There was a similar report from Hasan who added (the Prophet ﷺ said:) And I will walk between two rows of the believers.” Then he went back to the Hadith of Anas. – And he said: “And I will ask my Lord for permission and permission will be given to me. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a second time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a third time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a fourth time and will say: ‘O Lord, there is no one left except those who are detained by the Qur’an.’” ** Qatadah (the Tabi'ee in the chain) would narrate after this hadith that Anas (ra) said "Those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' (there is no god except Allah) and had the weight of a grain of barley in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of wheat in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of dust in good in his heart will come out of the Fire." أحمد:١٣٥٦٢حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يُحْشَرُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَهْتَمُّونَ لِذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا عَلَى رَبِّنَا حَتَّىيُرِيحُنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ وَعَلَّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ قَالَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ أَكْلَهُ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَقَدْ نُهِيَ عَنْهَا وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا نُوحًا أَوَّلَ نَبِيٍّ بَعَثَهُ اللهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ سُؤَالَهُ اللهَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ ثَلَاثَ كَذِبَاتٍ كَذَبَهُنَّ قَوْلَهُ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ وَقَوْلَهُ بَلْ فَعَلَهُ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَذَا وَأَتَى عَلَى جَبَّارٍ مُتْرَفٍ وَمَعَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ فَقَالَ أَخْبِرِيهِ أَنِّي أَخُوكِ فَإِنِّي مُخْبِرُهُ أَنَّكِ أُخْتِي وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَهُ اللهُ تَكْلِيمًا وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ وَقَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ قَتْلَهُ الرَّجُلَ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَكَلِمَةَ اللهِ وَرُوحَهُ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًاعَبْدَ اللهِ وَرَسُولَهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فِي دَارِهِ فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ هَمَّامٌ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي الثَّانِيَةَ فَيُؤْذَنُ لِي عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ قَالَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأَخْرُجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ هَمَّامٌ وَأَيْضًا سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي الثَّالِثَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُسَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِثَنَاءٍ وَتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ هَمَّامٌ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ فَلَا يَبْقَى فِي النَّارِ إِلَّا مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ أَيْ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْخُلُودُ ثُمَّ تَلَا قَتَادَةُ {عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا} [الإسراء 79] قَالَ هُوَ الْمَقَامُ الْمَحْمُودُ الَّذِي وَعَدَ اللهُ نَبِيَّهُ ﷺ

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, the people will be assembled, and some of them will say to others, 'Come with us to Adam, the father of mankind, so that he may intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'O Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His own hand and made you dwell in His Garden. Please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' Adam will say, 'I am not there for you, but go to Noah, the first prophet of Allah.' So they will go to Noah and say, 'O Noah, please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' Noah will say, 'I am not there for you, but go to Abraham, the intimate friend of Allah.' So they will go to Abraham and say, 'O Abraham, please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' Abraham will say, 'I am not there for you, but go to Moses, the one whom Allah spoke to directly.' So they will go to Moses and say, 'O Moses, please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' Moses will say, 'I am not there for you, but go to Jesus, the Spirit of Allah and His Word.' So they will go to Jesus and say, 'O Jesus, please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' Jesus will say, 'I am not there for you, but go to Muhammad, for he is the seal of the prophets, and he is present today, and his past and future sins have been forgiven.' Jesus will also say, 'Have you not seen if there was a container with a sealed cover, would anyone be able to access what is inside until the seal is removed?' They will say, 'No.' Jesus will say, 'Indeed, Muhammad is the seal of the prophets.' Then they will come to me and say, 'O Muhammad, please intercede for us with our Lord and settle our disputes.' I will say, 'Yes.' So I will go to the gate of Paradise and ask for it to be opened. It will be asked, 'Who is it?' I will say, 'Muhammad.' It will be opened for me, and I will enter and prostrate myself. Then I will praise my Lord with praises that no one has ever praised Him with before me or after me. It will be said to me, 'Raise your head and speak, your request will be heard and granted. Intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will say, 'O Lord, my nation, my nation.' It will be said to me, 'Bring out those who have an atom's weight of faith in their hearts.' So I will bring them out. Then I will go back and prostrate myself again. I will praise my Lord with praises that no one has ever praised Him with before me or after me. It will be said to me, 'Raise your head and speak, your request will be heard and granted. Intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will say, 'O Lord, my nation, my nation.' It will be said to me, 'Bring out those who have a mustard seed's weight of faith in their hearts.' So I will bring them out. Then I will go back and prostrate myself again. I will praise my Lord with praises that no one has ever praised Him with before me or after me. It will be said to me, 'Raise your head and speak, your request will be heard and granted. Intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will say, 'O Lord, my nation, my nation.' It will be said to me, 'Bring out those who have an atom's weight of faith in their hearts.' So I will bring them out."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يُطَوَّلُ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ انْطَلِقُوا بِنَا إِلَى آدَمَ أَبِي الْبَشَرِ فَيَشْفَعُ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا نُوحًا رَأْسَ النَّبِيِّينَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا نُوحُ اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ اللهِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاهُ اللهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا مُوسَى اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا عِيسَى رُوحَ اللهِ وَكَلِمَتَهُ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُونَ يَا عِيسَى اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلْيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا فَإِنَّهُ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّينَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ حَضَرَ الْيَوْمَ وَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَيَقُولُ عِيسَى أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ كَانَ مَتَاعٌ فِي وِعَاءٍ قَدْ خُتِمَ عَلَيْهِ هَلْ كَانَ يُقْدَرُ عَلَى مَا فِي الْوِعَاءِ حَتَّى يُفَضَّ الْخَاتَمُ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ لَا قَالَ فَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّينَ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَيَأْتُونِي فَيَقُولُونَ يَا مُحَمَّدُاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَلِيَقْضِ بَيْنَنَا قَالَ فَأَقُولُ نَعَمْ فَآتِي بَابَ الْجَنَّةِ فَآخُذُ بِحَلْقَةِ الْبَابِ فَأَسْتَفْتِحُ فَيُقَالُ مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَأَقُولُ مُحَمَّدُ فَيُفْتَحُ لِي فَأَخِرُّ سَاجِدًا فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ لَمْ يَحْمَدْهُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ كَانَ قَبْلِي وَلَا يَحْمَدُهُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ كَانَ بَعْدِي فَيَقُولُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ وَقُلْ يُسْمَعْ مِنْكَ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْ رَبِّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي فَيُقَالُ أَخْرِجْ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ شَعِيرَةٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ قَالَ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ ثُمَّ أَخِرُّ سَاجِدًا فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِمَحَامِدَ لَمْ يَحْمَدْهُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ كَانَ قَبْلِي وَلَا يَحْمَدُهُ بِهَا أَحَدٌ كَانَ بَعْدِي فَيُقَالُ لِي ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَقُولُ أَيْ رَبِّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي فَيُقَالُ أَخْرِجْ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ بُرَّةٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ قَالَ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَخِرُّ سَاجِدًا فَأَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَيُقَالُ أَخْرِجْ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ قَالَ فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ

[Machine] About the trench, I gathered a group of men from the Quraysh who used to see my location and hear from me. So I said to them, "Do you know, by Allah, I see Muhammad's matter rising greatly, and I have seen a vision. What do you see in it?" They asked, "What did you see?" I said, "I saw that we meet with the Najashi (King of Abyssinia), so that if Muhammad appears over our people, we will be with the Najashi. Because being under his authority is more beloved to us than being under the authority of Muhammad. And if our people appear, they will only bring us goodness." They said, "This plan is good." So I told them to gather what we will present to the Najashi, and the most beloved thing that could be presented to him was Adham from our land. So we gathered a lot of Adham for him, and we traveled until we reached him. By Allah, we were with him when 'Amr ibn Umayyah Ad-Damri came, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sent him to the Najashi regarding Ja'far and his companions. 'Amr entered upon him and then left his presence. So I said to my companions, "This is 'Amr ibn Umayyah. If I had met the Najashi and asked him for him, he would have given him to me and I would have killed him. So when Quraysh saw that I had relieved them by killing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , they let me enter upon him. So I prostrated before him as I used to do, and he said, 'Welcome, my friend. Did you bring me anything from your land?' I said, 'Yes, O King, I have brought you a lot of Adham.' He was amazed by them and liked them. Then I said to him, 'O King, I have seen a man who came from you, and he is a Messenger of a man who is an enemy to us. Give him to me so that I can kill him, for he has harmed some of our nobles and elites.' The Najashi became angry and raised his hand, striking his nose. I thought he had broken it, and if the earth had split open for me, I would have entered it due to him. Then I said to him, 'O King, by Allah, if I had thought that you disliked this, I would not have asked you for it.' He said, 'Do you ask me to give you the Messenger of a man whom the greatest catastrophe used to come to, like that which used to come to Musa, so that you can kill him?' I said, 'O King, is he such?' He said, 'Woe unto you, O 'Amr! Obey him and follow him, for by Allah, he is on the truth and he will be victorious. There will come a time when people will appear against him as Musa appeared against Fir'awn and his soldiers.' I said, 'So pledge allegiance to him for Islam.' He said, 'Yes.' He extended his hand and I pledged allegiance to him for Islam. Then I went out to my companions with my vision being different from what it used to be, and I concealed my Islam from my companions. Then I went out following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to become Muslim. I met Khalid ibn Al-Walid, who was approaching from Makkah, and I said, 'Where are you, O Abu Sulayman?' He said, 'By Allah, the canyons are straight, and that man is truly a Prophet. I will go and become Muslim.' I asked, 'Until when?' He said, 'By Allah, I only came to become Muslim.' I said, 'We have preceded you in pledging allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' So we arrived to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Khalid ibn Al-Walid became Muslim and pledged allegiance to him. Then I approached and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I pledge allegiance to you on the condition that you forgive me for what has passed of my sins and that you do not mention them. He ﷺ said, 'O 'Amr, pledge allegiance, for indeed Islam erases what came before it, and Hijrah erases what came before it.' I said, 'So I pledged allegiance to him,' and then I departed." Ibn Ishaq said, "I have narrated this story to you from a trustworthy person." Uthman ibn Talhah ibn Abi Talhah was with them when they became Muslim.

عَنِ الْخَنْدَقِ جَمَعْتُ رِجَالًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ كَانُوا يَرَوْنَ مَكَانِي وَيَسْمَعُونَ مِنِّي فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى أَمْرَ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْلُو الْأُمُورَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا وَإِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَأْيًا فَمَا تَرَوْنَ فِيهِ؟ قَالُوا وَمَا رَأَيْتَ؟ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَنْ نَلْحَقَ بِالنَّجَاشِيِّ فَنَكُونَ عِنْدَهُ فَإِنْ ظَهَرَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَلَى قَوْمِنَا كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّجَاشِيِّ فَإِنَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ تَحْتَ يَدَيْهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا مِنْ أَنْ نَكُونَ تَحْتَ يَدَيْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَإِنْ ظَهَرَ قَوْمُنَا فَنَحْنُ مَنْ قَدْ عُرِفُوا فَلَنْ يَأْتِيَنَا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا خَيْرٌ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ هَذَا الرَّأْيُ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ فَاجْمَعُوا لَهُ مَا نُهْدِي لَهُ وَكَانَ أَحَبَّ مَا يُهْدَى إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَرْضِنَا الْأَدَمُ فَجَمَعْنَا لَهُ أُدْمًا كَثِيرًا فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّا لَعِنْدَهُ إِذْ جَاءَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيُّ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ بَعَثَهُ إِلَيْهِ فِي شَأْنِ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَصْحَابِي هَذَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ لَوْ قَدْ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ فَسَأَلْتُهُ إِيَّاهُ فَأَعْطَانِيهِ فَضَرَبْتُ عُنُقَهُ فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ رَأَتْ قُرَيْشٌ أَنِّي قَدْ أَجْزَأْتُ عَنْهَا حِينَ قَتَلْتُ رَسُولَ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَسَجَدْتُ لَهُ كَمَا كُنْتُ أَصْنَعُ فَقَالَ مَرْحَبًا بِصَدِيقِي أَهْدَيْتَ لِي مِنْ بِلَادِكَ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْأَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ قَدْ أَهْدَيْتُ لَكَ أُدْمًا كَثِيرًا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَدَّمْتُهُ إِلَيْهِ فَأَعْجَبَهُ وَاشْتَهَاهُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَهُوَ رَسُولُ رَجُلٍ عَدُوٍّ لَنَا فَأَعْطِنِيهِ لِأَقْتُلَهُ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ أَصَابَ مِنْ أَشْرَافِنَا وَخِيَارِنَا قَالَ فَغَضِبَ ثُمَّ مَدَّ يَدَهُ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا أَنْفَهُ ضَرْبَةً ظَنَنْتُ أَنْ قَدْ كَسَرَهُ فَلَوِ انْشَقَّتْ لِي الْأَرْضُ لَدَخَلْتُ فِيهَا فَرَقًا مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ وَاللهِ لَوْ ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّكَ تَكْرَهُ هَذَا مَا سَأَلْتُكَهُ فَقَالَ أَتَسْأَلُنِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَكَ رَسُولَ رَجُلٍ يَأْتِيهِ النَّامُوسُ الْأَكْبَرُ الَّذِي كَانَ يَأْتِي مُوسَى لِتَقْتُلَهُ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ أَكَذَاكَ هُوَ؟ فَقَالَ وَيْحَكَ يَا عَمْرُو أَطِعْنِي وَاتَّبِعْهُ فَإِنَّهُ وَاللهِ لَعَلَى الْحَقِّ وَلَيَظْهَرَنَّ عَلَى مَنْ خَالَفَهُ كَمَا ظَهَرَ مُوسَى عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَجُنُودِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَبَايِعْنِي لَهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَبَسَطَ يَدَهُ وَبَايَعْتُهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِي وَقَدْ حَالَ رَأْيِي عَمَّا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وَكَتَمْتُ أَصْحَابِي إِسْلَامِي ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ عَامِدًا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لِأُسْلِمَ فَلَقِيتُ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ وَذَلِكَ قُبَيْلَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ مُقْبِلٌ مِنْ مَكَّةَ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ يَا أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ؟ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَقَدِ اسْتَقَامَ الْمَنْسِمُ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَنَبِيٌّ أَذْهَبُ وَاللهِ أُسْلِمُ فَحَتَّى مَتَى؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَاللهِ مَا جِئْتُ إِلَّا لِأُسْلِمَ قَالَ فَقَدِمْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَدِمَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِفَأَسْلَمَ وَبَايَعَ ثُمَّ دَنَوْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِي وَلَا أَذْكُرُ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا عَمْرُو بَايِعْ فَإِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ يَجُبُّ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ وَإِنَّ الْهِجْرَةَ تَجُبُّ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهَا قَالَ فَبَايَعْتُهُ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْتُ قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَقَدْ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ لَا أَتَّهِمُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ كَانَ مَعَهُمَا أَسْلَمَ حِينَ أَسْلَمَا  

ahmad:12153Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Ibn Abū ʿArūbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

“The believers will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, inspired or worried.” – Sa’eed was not sure – “And they will say: ‘If we seek someone to intercede for us with our Lord, we may find relief from our situation.’ So they will go to Adam and will say: ‘You are Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created you with His Hand and His angels prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord, that He might grant us relief from our situation.’ He will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention to them and complain of the sin that he committed. He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to Nuh, for he is the first Messenger whom Allah sent to the people of earth.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention of how he asked of Allah that of which he had no knowledge.* He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to the Close Friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Musa, a slave to whom Allah spoke and to whom He gave the Torah.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention how he killed a soul, not in retaliation for murder (and will say): ‘Rather go to ‘Isa, the slave of Allah and His Messenger, the Word of Allah and a spirit created by Him.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Muhammad, a slave whose past and future sins Allah forgave.’ So they will come to me and I will go with them.” – There was a similar report from Hasan who added (the Prophet ﷺ said:) And I will walk between two rows of the believers.” Then he went back to the Hadith of Anas. – And he said: “And I will ask my Lord for permission and permission will be given to me. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a second time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a third time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a fourth time and will say: ‘O Lord, there is no one left except those who are detained by the Qur’an.’” ** Qatadah (the Tabi'ee in the chain) would narrate after this hadith that Anas (ra) said "Those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' (there is no god except Allah) and had the weight of a grain of barley in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of wheat in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of dust in good in his heart will come out of the Fire." عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَجْتَمِعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُلْهَمُونَ ذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا عَلَى رَبِّنَا فَأَرَاحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُو الْبَشَرِ خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ وَعَلَّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ يُرِيحُنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ آدَمُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ ذَنْبَهُ الَّذِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ وَيَقُولُ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا نُوحًا فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ لَهُمْ خَطِيئَتَهُ سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَهُ اللهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ لَهُمُ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي قَتَلَ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللهِ وَرَسُولَهُ وَكَلِمَتَهُ وَرُوحَهُ فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنْ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَاتَأَخَّرَ فَيَأْتُونِي قَالَ الْحَسَنُ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ فَأَقُومُ فَأَمْشِي بَيْنَ سِمَاطَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ أَنَسٌ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيُؤْذَنَ لِي فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ أَوْ خَرَرْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّي فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي قَالَ ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ الثَّانِيَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ أَوْ خَرَرْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّي فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ الثَّالِثَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ أَوْ خَرَرْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّي فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِيَ إِلَّا مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ فَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ شَعِيرَةً ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ بُرَّةً ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ ذَرَّةً  

ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ بِأَنَّ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ إِنَّمَا يَشْفَعُ فِي الْقِيَامَةِ، عِنْدَ عَجْزِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ عَنْهَا فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "People will be gathered on the Day of Judgment, feeling distressed about it. They will say, 'If only we could intercede with our Lord to relieve us from our place.' They will come to Adam and say, 'You are Adam, whom Allah created with His own hands and breathed into you His soul, and He commanded the angels to prostrate before you. Intercede for us with your Lord to relieve us from our place.' He will say, 'I am not of help to you in this matter,' and he will mention his sin that he committed and feel embarrassed before his Lord because of it. But he will say, 'Go to Noah, the first Messenger that Allah sent.' So they will go to him and say, 'You are Noah, the first Messenger that Allah sent to the people of the Earth. Intercede for us with your Lord to relieve us from our place.' He will say, 'I am not of help to you in this matter,' and he will mention his sin that he committed and feel embarrassed before his Lord because of it. But he will say, 'Go to Ibrahim, whom Allah made His friend.' So they will go to him and say, 'You are Ibrahim, whom Allah took as a friend. Intercede for us with your Lord to relieve us from our place.' He will say, 'I am not of help to you in this matter,' and he will mention his sin that he committed and feel embarrassed before his Lord because of it. But he will say, 'Go to Musa, whom Allah created and gave the Torah.' So they will go to him and say, 'You are Musa, whom Allah created and gave the Torah. Intercede for us with your Lord to relieve us from our place.' He will say, 'I am not of help to you in this matter,' and he will mention his sin that he committed and feel embarrassed before his Lord because of it. But he will say, 'Go to 'Isa, the servant of Allah and His Messenger.' So they will go to him and say, 'You are 'Isa, the servant of Allah and His Messenger. Intercede for us with your Lord to relieve us from our place.' He will say, 'I am not of help to you in this matter,' and he will mention his sin that he committed and feel embarrassed before his Lord because of it. But he will say, 'Go to Muhammad, a servant whom Allah has forgiven for all his past and future sins.' So they will come to me and I will seek permission from my Lord, and it will be granted to me. When I see Him, I will fall in prostration, and He will let me stay in that position as long as He wishes. Then it will be said to me, 'Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak; you will be heard, and ask; you will be given, and intercede; your intercession will be accepted.' So I will raise my head and praise my Lord with praises that He will teach me. Then I will intercede, and a limit will be set for me, and the people will be taken out of the Fire and admitted into Paradise."  

ابن حبّان:٦٤٦٤أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حِسَابٍ وَالْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ وَعَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يُجْمَعُ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُلْهَمُونَ لِذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا كَيْ يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وَأَمَرَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ فَيَذْكُرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَهَا فَيَسْتَحْيِي مِنْ رَبِّهِ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا أَوَّلَ رَسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيُذْكَرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي اتَّخَذَهُ اللَّهُ خَلِيلًا قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيُذْكَرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ الَّتِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى الَّذِي خَلْقَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيُذْكَرُ خَطِيئَتَهُ فَيَسْتَحْيِي رَبَّهُ مِنْهَا وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونِي فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيَأْذَنُ لِي فَإِذَا أَنَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعَتْ سَاجِدًا فَ يَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ وَاشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ قَالَ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي وَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَضَعُ رَأْسِي فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِيَ ثُمَّ يُقَالُ لِيَ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُ رَبِّي بِمَحَامِدَ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَأُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ»  

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَلَا تَسْأَلْنِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ} [هود: 46]

“The believers will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, inspired or worried.” – Sa’eed was not sure – “And they will say: ‘If we seek someone to intercede for us with our Lord, we may find relief from our situation.’ So they will go to Adam and will say: ‘You are Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created you with His Hand and His angels prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord, that He might grant us relief from our situation.’ He will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention to them and complain of the sin that he committed. He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to Nuh, for he is the first Messenger whom Allah sent to the people of earth.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention of how he asked of Allah that of which he had no knowledge.* He will feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to the Close Friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Musa, a slave to whom Allah spoke and to whom He gave the Torah.’ So they will go to him and he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention how he killed a soul, not in retaliation for murder (and will say): ‘Rather go to ‘Isa, the slave of Allah and His Messenger, the Word of Allah and a spirit created by Him.’ So they will go to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Muhammad, a slave whose past and future sins Allah forgave.’ So they will come to me and I will go with them.” – There was a similar report from Hasan who added (the Prophet ﷺ said:) And I will walk between two rows of the believers.” Then he went back to the Hadith of Anas. – And he said: “And I will ask my Lord for permission and permission will be given to me. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a second time. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a fourth time and will say: ‘O Lord, there is no one left except those who are detained by the Qur’an.’” ** Qatadah (the Tabi'ee in the chain) would narrate after this hadith that Anas (ra) said "Those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' (there is no god except Allah) and had the weight of a grain of barley in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of wheat in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of dust in good in his heart will come out of the Fire." أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَجْتَمِعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَقُولُونَ لَوِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِلَى رَبِّنَا فَأَرَاحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَيَقُولُونَ أَنْتَ أَبُو النَّاسِ خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيُذْكَرُ لَهُمْ وَيَشْكُو إِلَيْهِمْ ذَنْبَهُ الَّذِي أَصَابَ فَيَسْتَحْيِي اللهَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رَسُولِ بَعَثَهُ اللهُ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ [128] فَيُنَادُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَيَسْتَحْيِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَ اللهُ وَأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ وَيَذْكُرُ قَتْلَهُ النَّفْسَ بِغَيْرِ النَّفْسِ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ وَكَلِمَةُ اللهِ وَرُوحُهُ فَيَأْتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَسْتُ هُنَاكَ وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ وَعَلَى جَمِيعِ أَنْبِيَاءِ اللهِ عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ فَيَأْتُونَنِي فَأَنْطَلِقُ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ فَذَكَرَ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ «فَأَمْشِي بَيْنَ سِمَاطَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ» ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ فَأَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى رَبِّي فَيَأْذَنُ لِي فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَدَعَنِي ثُمَّ يُقَالُ ارْفَعْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي وَقَعْتُ لَهُ سَاجِدًا فَيَدَعُنِي مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ يُقَالُ لِي ارْفَعْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تُسْمَعْ سَلْ تُعْطَهْ اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ فَأَرْفَعُ رَأْسِي فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِي حَدًّا فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِيَ إِلَّا مَنْ حَبَسَهُ الْقُرْآنُ قَالَ وَيَقُولُ قَتَادَةُ عَلَى أَثَرِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ مِثْقَالُ شَعِيرَةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ بُرَّةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ خَيْرٍ  

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ} [الصافات: 89]

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah will gather the believers on the Day of Resurrection in the same way (as they are gathered in this life), and they will say, 'Let us ask someone to intercede for us with our Lord that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Then they will go to Adam and say, 'O Adam! Don't you see the people (people's condition)? Allah created you with His Own Hands and ordered His angels to prostrate before you, and taught you the names of all the things. Please intercede for us with our Lord so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking' and mention to them the mistakes he had committed, and add, "But you d better go to Noah as he was the first Apostle sent by Allah to the people of the Earth.' They will go to Noah who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention the mistake which he made, and add, 'But you'd better go to Abraham, Khalil Ar-Rahman.' They will go to Abraham who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention to them the mistakes he made, and add, 'But you'd better go to Moses, a slave whom Allah gave the Torah and to whom He spoke directly' They will go to Moses who will reply, 'I am not fit for this undertaking,' and mention to them the mistakes he made, and add, 'You'd better go to Jesus, Allah's slave and His Apostle and His Word (Be: And it was) and a soul created by Him.' They will go to Jesus who will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, but you'd better go to Muhammad whose sins of the past and the future had been forgiven (by Allah).' So they will come to me and I will ask the permission of my Lord, and I will be permitted (to present myself) before Him. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in (prostration) before Him and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then it will be said to me, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then raise my head and praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit whom I will admit into Paradise. I will come back again, and when I see my Lord (again), I will fall down in prostration before Him, and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then He will say, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit to whom I will admit into Paradise, I will return again, and when I see my Lord, I will fall down (in prostration) and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He wishes, and then He will say, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will then praise my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me, and then I will intercede. Allah will allow me to intercede (for a certain kind of people) and will fix a limit to whom I will admit into Paradise. I will come back and say, 'O my Lord! None remains in Hell (Fire) but those whom Qur'an has imprisoned therein and for whom eternity in Hell (Fire) has become inevitable.' " The Prophet ﷺ added, "There will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a barley grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: ' La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a wheat grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha illal-lah,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of an atom (or a smallest ant). "يَجْتَمِعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَهْتَمُّونَ لذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُونَ: لَو اسْتَشْفَعْنَا عَلَى ربِّنَا فَأَرَاحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا، فَيَأتُونَ آدَمَ فَيَقُولُونَ: يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُو البَشَرِ، خَلَقَكَ اللَّه بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ، وَعَلِّمَكَ أَسْمَاءَ كُلِّ شَئٍ، فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى ربِّكَ حَتَّى يُرِيحَنَا مِنْ مَكَانِنَا هَذَا، فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ آدَمُ: لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ، وَيَذْكُر ذَنْبَهُ الَّذِى أَصَابَهُ، فَيَسْتَحِى ربَّه ﷻ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، وَيَقُولُ: وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا نُوحًا؛ فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ رسُولٍ بَعَثَهُ اللَّه إِلَى الأَرْضِ، فَيَأتُونَ نُوحًا فَيَقُولُ: لَسْتُ هُنَاكُمْ، وَيذْكُرُ لَهُمْ خَطِيئَتَهُ -سُؤَالَهُ رَبَّهُ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِهِ عِلْمٌ، فَيَسْتَحِى رَبَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَيأتُونَهُ فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ: لَسْتُ هُنَاكُم وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُوسَى عَبْدًا كَلَّمَهُ اللَّه وأَعْطَاهُ التَّوْرَاةَ، فَيَأتُونَ مُوسَى، فَيَقُولُ: لَسْتُ هُنَاكُم وَيذْكُرُ لَهُمُ النَّفْسَ الَّتِى قَتَلَ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ، فَيَسْتَحِى ربَّه مِنْ ذَلِكَ، وَلَكِن ائْتُوا عِيسَى عَبْدَ اللَّه وَرَسُولَهُ، وكَلِمَتَهُ ورُوحَهُ، فَيَأتُونَ عِيسَى فَيَقُولُ: لَسْتُ هُنَاكُم وَلَكِنِ ائْتُوا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدًا غَفَرَ اللَّه لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّم مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ، فَأَقُومُ فَأمْشِى بَيْنَ سِمَاطَيْنِ مِنَ المُؤْمِنينَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأذِنَ عَلَى ربِّى، فَيُؤْذن لِى، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ ربِّى وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّى -تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى- فَيَدَعُنِى مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَدَعَنِى، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ، قُلْ تُسْمَعْ، وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ، واشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ، فَأَرْفَعُ رَأسِى فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْميدٍ يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ، ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحُدُّ لِى حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُم الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُو الثَّانِيَةَ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ رَبِّى وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّى -تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى- فَيَدعُنِى مَا شَاءَ اللَّه أَنْ يَدَعَنِى، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ، قُلْ تُسْمَعْ، وسَلْ تُعْطَهْ، واشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ، فَأَرْفَعُ رَأسِى فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيدٍ يعلِّمُنِيهِ، ثُمَّ أَشْفَعُ فَيَحدُّ لِى حَدًّا فَأُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ، ثُمَّ أَعُودُ فَأدْعُو الثَّالِثَةَ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُ

ربِّى وَقَعْتُ سَاجِدًا لِرِّبى -تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى- فَيَدَعُنِى مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَدَعَنِى، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: ارْفَعْ مُحَمَّدُ، وَقُلْ تُسْمَعْ، وَسَلْ تُعْطَه واشْفَعْ تُشَفعْ، فَأَرْفَعُ رَأسِى فَأَحْمَدُهُ بِتَحْمِيد يُعَلِّمُنِيهِ، ثُمَّ اشْفَعُ، فَيَحدُّ لِى حَدًا فَأُدْخِلُهُمْ الجَنَّةَ، ثُمَّ أَعُودُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَأَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ مَا بَقِىَ إِلَّا مَنْ حَبَسَهُ القُرْآنُ، فَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّه، وَمَا كَانَ فِى قَلْبه مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ شَعِيرَةً، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّه وكَانَ فِى قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ بُرَّةً، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّه، وَكَانَ فِى قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ ذَرَّةً".

We were in the funeral procession of the daughter of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting near the grave and I saw his eyes full of tears. He said, "Is there anyone amongst you who did not have sexual relations with his wife last night?" Abu Talha replied in the affirmative. And so Allah's Apostle told him to get down in her grave and he got down in her grave and buried her.  

البخاري:١٣٤٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا هِلاَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ

شَهِدْنَا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ جَالِسٌ عَلَى الْقَبْرِ فَرَأَيْتُ عَيْنَيْهِ تَدْمَعَانِ فَقَالَ هَلْ فِيكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ لَمْ يُقَارِفِ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أَنَا قَالَ فَانْزِلْ فِي قَبْرِهَا فَنَزَلَ فِي قَبْرِهَا فَقَبَرَهَا قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ فُلَيْحٌ أُرَاهُ يَعْنِي الذَّنْبَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ {لِيَقْتَرِفُوا} أَىْ لِيَكْتَسِبُوا

[Machine] We witnessed the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sitting on the grave. I saw his eyes shedding tears, then he said, "Is there anyone among you who has not committed the night?" Suraq, referring to a sin, said, "Abu Talha, I am, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Then go down." He said, "So he descended into her grave."

We were (in the funeral procession) of one of the daughters of the Prophet ﷺ and he was sitting by the side of the grave. I saw his eyes shedding tears. He said, "Is there anyone among you who did not have sexual relations with his wife last night?" Abu Talha replied in the affirmative. And so the Prophet told him to get down in the grave. And so he got down in her grave. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1285)

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Some people will be scorched by Hell (Fire) as a punishment for sins they have committed, and then Allah will admit them into Paradise by the grant of His Mercy. These people will be called, 'Al-Jahannamiyyin' (the people of Hell).

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "If somebody commits a sin and then says, 'O my Lord! I have sinned, please forgive me!' and his Lord says, 'My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it, I therefore have forgiven my slave (his sins).' Then he remains without committing any sin for a while and then again commits another sin and says, 'O my Lord, I have committed another sin, please forgive me,' and Allah says, 'My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it, I therefore have forgiven my slave (his sin). Then he remains without Committing any another sin for a while and then commits another sin (for the third time) and says, 'O my Lord, I have committed another sin, please forgive me,' and Allah says, 'My slave has known that he has a Lord Who forgives sins and punishes for it I therefore have forgiven My slave (his sin), he can do whatever he likes."

He then again committed a sin and said: My Lord, forgive me my sin, and Allah, the Exalted and High, said: My servant committed a sin and then came to realise that he has a Lord Who would forgive his sin or would take (him) to account for the sin. He again committed a sin and said: My Lord, forgive me for my sin, and Allah (the Exalted and High) said: My servant sas committed a sin and then came to realise that he has a Lord Who forgives the sins or takes (him) to account for sin. O servant, do what you like. I have granted you forgiveness. 'Abd al-A'la said: I do not know whether he said thrice or four times to do" what you desire".

Then, he committed another sin or said, 'He committed another sin.' He said, 'O Lord, I have committed a sin, so forgive me.' His Lord says, 'My servant knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds people accountable for them. I have forgiven my servant. Let him do as he pleases.' Then he commits another sin and says, 'O Lord, forgive my sin.' Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, says, 'My servant committed a sin knowing that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds people accountable for them. Do as you please, for I have forgiven you.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ عَبْدًا أَصَابَ ذَنْبًا فَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ أَذْنَبْتُ ذَنْبًا فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَقَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ عَلِمَ عَبْدِي أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ وَيَأْخُذُ بِهِ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ ثُمَّ مَكَثَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا آخَرَ فَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ أَذْنَبْتُ ذَنْبًا فَاغْفِرْهُ لِي فَقَالَ رَبُّهُ ﷻ عَلِمَ عَبْدِي أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ وَيَأْخُذُ بِهِ قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لِعَبْدِي فَلْيَعْمَلْ مَا شَاءَ ثُمَّ عَادَ فَأَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا فَقَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي فَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَذْنَبَ عَبْدِي ذَنْبًا فَعَلِمَ أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ وَيَأْخُذُ بِالذَّنْبِ اعْمَلْ مَا شِئْتَ قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكَ

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "A man committed a sin and said, 'O Lord, I have committed a sin.' Or he said, 'I have done a deed, so forgive me.' Allah, the Exalted and Almighty, replied, 'My servant has committed a sin and he knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. I have forgiven my servant.' Then the man committed another sin or did another deed and said, 'O Lord, I have committed a sin. So forgive me.' And Allah, the Exalted and Almighty, replied, 'My servant has committed a sin and he knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. I have forgiven my servant.' Then the man committed another sin or did another deed and said, 'O Lord, I have committed a sin. So forgive me.' And Allah, the Exalted and Almighty, replied, 'My servant has committed a sin and he knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. I have forgiven my servant. I bear witness to you all that I have forgiven my servant, so let him do whatever he wants."

O Allah, forgive me my sins, and Allah (the Exalted and Glorious) said: My servant commited a sin and then he came to realise that he has a Lord Who forgives the sins and takes to account (the sinner) for the sin. He then again committed a sin and said: My Lord, forgive me my sin, and Allah, the Exalted and High, said: My servant committed a sin and then came to realise that he has a Lord Who would forgive his sin or would take (him) to account for the sin. He again committed a sin and said: My Lord, forgive me for my sin, and Allah (the Exalted and High) said: My servant sas committed a sin and then came to realise that he has a Lord Who forgives the sins or takes (him) to account for sin. O servant, do what you like. I have granted you forgiveness. 'Abd al-A'la said: I do not know whether he said thrice or four times to do" what you desire". (Using translation from Muslim 2758a)

Then he remains for as long as Allah wills, and then commits another sin. It is possible that he may say, 'I have committed another sin.' Then he remains for as long as Allah wills, and then commits another sin. It is possible that he may say, 'I have committed another sin.' His Lord says, 'I have forgiven My servant, so let him do whatever he wishes.'"

"إِنَّ عبدًا أصَابَ ذَنْبًا فقال: رَبِّ أَذْنَبْتُ فاغْفِرْهُ، فقال رُبُه: أعَلِمَ عَبْدِى أنَّ له ربًا يَغْفِرُ الذنبَ ويأْخُذُ بِهِ؟ غَفَرْتُ لِعَبْدِى، ثم مَكَثَ ما شاءَ اللَّهُ، ثُمَّ أَصابَ ذنبًا فقال: ربّ أذنَبْتُ آخَرَ فَاغْفِرْهُ لى، قال رَبُّهُ: أعَلِمَ عَبْدِى أنَّ لَهُ ربًا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ ويأْخُذُ بهِ؟ قد غفرتُ لِعَبْدِى، فَليَعْمَلْ مَا شَاءَ ".

related to us two narrations: one from the Prophet ﷺ and the other from himself, saying: A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain afraid that it may fall upon him; whereas the depraved one considers his sins as flies passing over his nose. And said: like this. Abu Shihab gestured with hand over his nose.

then he said that ˹the Messenger of Allah ﷺ˺ said, "Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than a man who encamps at a place where his life is jeopardized, but he has his riding beast carrying his food and water. He then rests his head and sleeps for a short while and wakes to find his riding beast gone. ˹He, then, starts looking for it˺ suffering from severe heat and thirst or whatever Allah willed ˹for him to suffer from˺. He then ˹gives up˺ and says: I shall go back to my place. Then he comes back and sleeps again. When he get back up he finds his riding beast beside him."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالآخَرُ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَأَنَّهُ قَاعِدٌ تَحْتَ جَبَلٍ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَقَعَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَذُبَابٍ مَرَّ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ فَقَالَ بِهِ هَكَذَا قَالَ أَبُو شِهَابٍ بِيَدِهِ فَوْقَ أَنْفِهِ۔

ثُمَّ قَالَ: «لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ نَزَلَ مَنْزِلاً وَبِهِ مَهْلَكَةٌ وَمَعَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ عَلَيْهَا طَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ فَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَنَامَ نَوْمَةً فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَتْ رَاحِلَتُهُ حَتَّى اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الْحَرُّ وَالْعَطَشُ أَوْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالَ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى مَكَانِي فَرَجَعَ فَنَامَ نَوْمَةً ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَإِذَا رَاحِلَتُهُ عِنْدَهُ۔»

"Allah is more pleased with the repentance of one of you that a man in a desolate, barren, destructive wasteland, who has his mount carrying his provisions, his food, and his drink and what he needs with him. Then it wanders away. So he goes to find it until he is on the brink of death. He says: 'I will return to the place where I lost it, to die.' So he returns to his place and his eyes become heavy (falling asleep). Then he awakens to find his mount at his head carrying his food, drink and what he needs." [Machine] Abdullah, verily a believer sees his sins as if they were a mountain about to fall upon him, fearing it would crush him. And indeed, a transgressor sees his sins as tiny flies that landed on his nose, and he says: "Is this how it is?" So he waved them off. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of one of you who goes out to a barren land and says: 'O Allah, I am returning to my place of deception in it, so let me die there.' He said, "Abu Mu'awiyah said, 'Abdullah narrated two narrations, one from himself and the other from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . It is about a person who takes his means of destruction with him on his camel, such as his provision, food, drink, and whatever he may need. But it misleads him, so he goes out in search of it until death overtakes him. Then he says, 'Let me return to the place where I went astray in it and die there.' So, he returns, and his eyes grow sleepy, but he wakes up to find his means of destruction beside him, along with his provision, food, drink, and whatever he may need."

عَبْدُ اللهِ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَأَنَّهُ فِي أَصْلِ جَبَلٍ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَقَعَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَذُبَابٍ وَقَعَ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ فَقَالَ بِهِ هَكَذَا فَطَارَ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ رَجُلٍ خَرَجَ بِأَرْضٍ دَوِّيَّةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدِيثَيْنِ أَحَدَهُمَا عَنْ نَفْسِهِ وَالْآخَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَهْلَكَةٍ مَعَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ عَلَيْهَا زَادُهُ وَطَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ وَمَا يُصْلِحُهُ فَأَضَلَّهَا فَخَرَجَ فِي طَلَبِهَا حَتَّى إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى مَكَانِي الَّذِي أَضْلَلْتُهَا فِيهِ فَأَمُوتُ فِيهِ قَالَ فَرَجَعَ فَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنُهُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ فَإِذَا رَاحِلَتُهُ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ عَلَيْهَا زَادُهُ وَطَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ وَمَا يُصْلِحُهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His believing servant than a man who lost his camel in a barren land, and with it was his food and drink. He then lay down and slept, and when he woke up he found that his camel had disappeared. He searched for it until he became exhausted and thirsty. He said, 'By Allah, I will go back and die where I was before.' So he went back and slept. When he woke up, he found his camel beside him, along with his food and drink. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Verily, the believer sees his sins as if he were sitting at the foot of a mountain fearing that it may fall upon him, while the wicked person considers his sins like a fly that passes by his nose and says to it: Get away. Then he orders it by his hand to move away.'"

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْآخَرُ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَلَّهُ أَشَدُّ فَرَحًا بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ بِأَرْضِ فَلَاةٍ دَوِيَّةٍ وَمَهْلَكَةٍ وَمَعَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ عَلَيْهَا طَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ فَنَزَلَ فِيهَا فَنَامَ وَرَاحِلَتُهُ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَتْ فَذَهَبَ فِي طَلَبِهَا فَلَمْ يَقْدِرْ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى أَدْرَكَهُ مِنَ الْعَطَشِ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ لَأَرْجِعَنَّ فَلَأَمُوتَنَّ حَيْثُ كَانَ رَحْلِي فَرَجَعَ فَنَامَ وَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَإِذَا رَاحِلَتُهُ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ عَلَيْهَا طَعَامُهُ وَشَرَابُهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَأَنَّهُ جَالِسٌ فِي أَصْلِ جَبَلٍ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَنْقَلِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَذُبَابٍ مَرَّ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ وَقَالَ لَهُ هَكَذَا فَذَهَبَ وَأَمَرَّ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَالْفَرَحُ الْمُضَافُ إِلَى اللهِ ﷻ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ بِمَعْنَى الرِّضَا وَالْقَبُولِ كَقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ} [المؤمنون 53] يَعْنِي رَاضُونَ كَذَلِكَ ذَكَرَهُ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ وَهُوَ حَسَنٌ وَفِي التَّوْبَةِ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ أَخْبَارٌ كَثِيرَةٌ وَلَيْسَ هَهُنَا مَوْضِعُهَا وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ مِنْ دَارِ الدُّنْيَا وَقَدْ تَلَوَّثَ بِالذَّنْبِ وَالْخَطَايَا فَهُوَ فِي مَشِيئَةِ اللهِ تَعَالَى إِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُ بِفَضْلِهِ ذُنُوبَهُ صِغَارَهَا وَكِبَارَهَا وَإِنْ شَاءَ عَاقَبَهُ بِعَدْلِهِ عَلَى ذُنُوبِهِ ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِهِ إِلَى جَنَّتِهِ بِرَحْمَتِهِ أَوْ بِشَفَاعَةِ الشَّافِعِينَ بِإِذْنِهِ فِي ذَلِكَ أَخْبَارٌ كَثِيرَةٌ إِلَّا أَنَّا نُشِيرُ هَهُنَا إِلَى مَا يَقَعُ بِهِ الْبَيَانُ بِتَوْفِيقِ اللهِ تَعَالَى

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing over a tank (well) giving water to the people to drink. Then Abu Bakr came to me and took the bucket from me in order to relieve me and he pulled out one or two full buckets, and there was weakness in his pulling --may Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al-Khattab took it from him and went on drawing water till the people left (after being satisfied) while the tank was over flowing with water."  

البخاري:٧٠٢٢حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ

While I was asleep I saw myself drawing water from my tank in order to quench the thirst of the people that there came to me Abu Bakr. He took hold of the leathern bucket from my hand so that he should serve water to the people. He drew two bucketfuls and there was some weakness in his drawing (Allah may forgive him). Then there came Ibn Khattab and he took hold of that, and I did not see a person stronger than he (drawing water) until the people went away with their thirst quenched and the tank filled with water. I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying regarding Ramadan, "Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."

He who observed the fasts of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven, and he who observed prayer on Lailat-ul- Qadr with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven.

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."

the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan and stands (in the night prayer) for it out of faith and seeking a reward (from Allah), he will be forgiven what preceded of his sins. Whoever stands (in the night prayer) on the Night of Al-Qadr out of faith and seeking a reward (from Allah), he will be forgiven what preceded of his sins."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) with faith and seeking reward, will have all his previous sins forgiven." Affan said: "And Aban narrated a similar hadith in this chain of narration."
