(the slave of 'Uthman) I saw 'Uthman bin 'Affan asking for a tumbler of water (and when it was brought) he poured water over his hands and washed them thrice and then put his right hand in the water container and rinsed his mouth, washed his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out. then he washed his face and forearms up to the elbows thrice, passed his wet hands over his head and washed his feet up to the ankles thrice. Then he said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ said 'If anyone performs ablution like that of mine and offers a two-rak'at prayer during which he does not think of anything else (not related to the present prayer) then his past sins will be forgiven.' "
I brought water to ʿUthman bin ʿAffan to perform the ablution while he was sitting on his seat. He performed the ablution in a perfect way and said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ performing the ablution in this place and he performed it in a perfect way and said, "Whoever performs the ablution as I have done this time and then proceeds to the mosque and offers a two-rakʿat prayer and then sits there (waiting for the compulsory congregational prayers), then all his past sins will be forgiven." The Prophet ﷺ further added, "Do not be conceited (thinking that your sins will be forgiven because of your prayer).
Uthman b. 'Affan called for ablution water and this is how he performed the ablution. He washed his hands thrice. He then rinsed his mouth and cleaned his nose with water (three times). He then washed his face three times, then washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then washed his left arm like that, then wiped his head; then washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then washed his left foot like that, and then said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution like this ablution of mine. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then stood up (for prayer) and offered two rak'ahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, all his previous sins are expiated. Ibn Shihab said: Our scholars remarked: This is the most complete of the ablutions performed for prayer.

One day Uthman b. Affan performed the ablution well, and then said: I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution, the best ablution, and then observed: He who performed ablution like this and then went towards the mosque and nothing (but the love of) prayer urged him (to do so), all his previous (minor) sins would be expiated.

Then he (the Prophet) said: He who performs ablution like this ablution of mine and then offered two rakhahs of prayer without allowing his thoughts to be distracted, Allah will pardon all his past sins.

I saw ʿUthman bin ʿAffan ؓ do wudooʿ, He poured water onto his hands three times and washed them, then he rinsed his mouth and nose, then he washed his face three times, then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then the left arm likewise, then he wiped his head, then he washed his right foot three times, then the left foot likewise. He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do wudooʿ similar to what I just did, then he said: “Whoever does wudooʿ as I just did, then prays two rak’ahs without letting his mind wander, his previous sins will be forgiven” (Using translation from Aḥmad 421)

[AI] I saw Uthman bin Affan perform ablution (wudu'). He poured water three times over his hands, then washed them. Then he rinsed his mouth and nose, then washed his face three times. Then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, followed by his left arm the same way. Then he wiped his head, then washed his right foot three times, followed by his left foot the same way. Then he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution similar to my ablution, then he said, 'Whoever performs ablution like my ablution, then prays two Rak'ahs, without talking to himself in them, his previous sins will be forgiven."

[AI] That Uthman bin Affan one day called for ablution. So he performed ablution, washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth and nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his right hand up to the elbow three times, and washed his left hand in the same manner. Then he wiped his head and washed his right foot up to the ankles three times, and washed his left foot in the same manner. Then he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution similar to my ablution, and then he said, 'Whoever performs ablution similar to my ablution and then stands and prays two units without allowing himself to become distracted, his previous sins will be forgiven.'"
