The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: An oath or a vow about something over which a human being has no control, and to disobey Allah, and to break ties of relationship is not binding. If anyone takes an oath and then considers something else better than it, he should give it up, and do what is better, for leaving it is its atonement. Abu Dawud said: All sound traditions from the Prophet ﷺ say: "He should make atonement for his oath," except those versions which are not reliable. Abu Dawud said: I said to Ahmad: Yahya b. Sa'id (al-Qattan) has transmitted this tradition from Yahya b. 'Ubaid Allah. He (Ahmad b. Hanbal) said: But he gave it up after that, and he was competent for doing it. Ahmad said: His (Yahya b. 'Ubaid Allah's) tradition are munkar (rejected) and his father is not known.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ وَلاَ يَمِينَ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ وَلاَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ وَلاَ فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ وَمَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَرَأَى غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا فَلْيَدَعْهَا وَلْيَأْتِ الَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ فَإِنَّ تَرْكَهَا كَفَّارَتُهَا

"There is no vow and no oath concerning that which one does not possess, nor to commit sin, nor to sever the ties of kinship."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ وَلاَ يَمِينَ فِيمَا لاَ تَمْلِكُ وَلاَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ وَلاَ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ

"There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience, and no vow concerning that which the son of Adam does not possess."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ وَلاَ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ

The Messenger of Allah said: "There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience or with regard to that which the son of Adam does not possess."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ وَلاَ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ

"[There is no vow to commit disobedience and] no vow concerning that which the son of Adam does not possess."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ وَلاَ نَذْرَ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ

The Messenger of Allah said: "There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience or with regard to that which the son of Adam does not possess." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3851)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no fulfillment of a vow made while disobeying Allah."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ

"There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience and its expiation is the expiation for an oath." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3834)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ أَوْ فِي غَضَبٍ وَكَفَّارَتُهُ كَفَّارَةُ الْيَمِينِ

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "There is no fulfillment of a vow made while engaging in disobedience, and there is no fulfillment of a vow in something that the servant or the son of Adam does not possess."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ وَلَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ الْعَبْدُ أَوِ ابْنُ آدَمَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا طَاعَةَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no vow in disobedience, and its expiation is an oath (of refraining)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ وَكَفَّارَتُهُ يَمِينٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا طَاعَةَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا نَذْرَ وَلَا يَمِينَ فِيمَا لَا تَمْلِكُ وَلَا فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ وَلَا قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ»

"There is no vow to commit an act of disobedience, and no vow concerning that which the son of Adam does not possess." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3812)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا نَذَرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ»

"أَوْفِ بنَذْركَ، فَإِنَّهُ لا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْر في مَعْصِيَة اللَّهِ، وَلَا فِيمَا لا يَمْلكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ ".

"أَوْف بنَذْركَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا وَفَاءَ لنَذرٍ فِى مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ، وَلَا فِى قَطيعةِ رَحمٍ، وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِك ابْنُ آدَمَ ".

"بئْسَمَا جَزَتْهَا- إِنِ اللهُ -تعالى- أَنجاهَا عليها لَتَنْحَرنَّهَا- لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْر في مَعْصِيَة الله وَلَا فِيما لَا يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ".

"لا نَذْرَ إِلا فِيمَا أُطِيعَ الله - تعالى - فِيهِ - وَلا نَذْرَ فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ، وَلا طَلاقَ، وَلا عتَاقَ فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ".

"لا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ وَلا فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ ابنُ آدَمَ".

"لا نَذْرَ وَلا يَمينَ فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ ابنُ آدَمَ، وَلا فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ،

وَلا فِي قَطيعَةِ رَحِمٍ، وَمَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَرَأى غَيرَهَا خَيرًا مِنْهَا فَليَدَعْهَا وَلْيَأتِ الَّذي هُوَ خَيرٌ، فَإِنَّ تَرْكَهَا كَفَّارَتُهَا".

"لا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ، وَلا فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ ابنُ آدَمَ".

"لا نَذْرَ في غَضَبٍ وَلا فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ، وَلا كَفَّارَةَ يَمِين".

"لا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ الله، وَلا فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ، وَلا فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ".

"لا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْر فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ".

"لا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيِة اللهِ، وَلا فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ ابنُ آدَمَ".

"لا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ لي مَعْصِيِة اللهِ، وَلا فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ، وَلا فِيمَا لا تَمْلكُ".

"لَا يَمِينَ عَلَيكَ، وَلَا نَذْرَ في مَعْصِيَةِ الرَّبِّ وَفِي قَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِم ولا فِيمَا لَا تَمْلِكُ".

"لَا يَمينَ وَلا نَذْرَ فيمَا يُسْخطُ الرَّبَّ، وَلَا في قَطيعَة الرَّحِمِ، وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ".
