38. Marital Feast (6/7)
٣٨۔ كِتَابُ الْوَلِيمَةِ ص ٦
[Machine] About wine, he said, "Abandon dinner and drink in the morning."
عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فَقَالَ «انْبِذْ عِشَاءً وَاشْرَبْ غُدْوَةً»
"I asked Abu Ja'far about Nabidh and he said: " 'Ali bin Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, would have Nabidh made for him at night, and he would drink it in the morning, and he would have Nabidh made in the morning and he would drink it at night.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5741)
عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فَقَالَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ «يُنْبَذُ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيَشْرَبُهُ غُدْوَةً وَيُنْبَذُ لَهُ غُدْوَةً فَيَشْرَبُهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ»
"I asked Ubayy bin Ka'b about Nabidh, and he said: 'Drink water, drink honey, drink Sawiq (barley gruel) and drink milk that you have been nourished with since childhood.' I repeated the question and he said: 'Is it wine you want? Is it wine you want?'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5754)
عَنِ النَّبِيذِ قَالَ «اشْرَبِ الْمَاءَ وَاشْرَبِ الْعَسَلَ وَاشْرَبِ السَّوِيقَ وَاشْرَبِ اللَّبَنَ الَّذِي نُجِعْتَ بِهِ فَعَاوَدْتُهُ» فَقَالَ الْخَمْرَ تُرِيدُ الْخَمْرَ تُرِيدُ
"The people have invented drinks and I do not know what they are. I have not drunk anything for 20 years except water, milk and honey." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5756)
«أَحْدَثَ النَّاسُ أَشْرِبَةً لَا أَدْرِي مَا هِيَ وَمَالِي شَرَابٌ مُنْذُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً إِلَّا الْمَاءُ وَاللَّبَنُ وَالْعَسَلُ»
[Machine] That Omar wrote to Ammar bin Yasir. After that, he said...
أَنَّ عُمَرَ كَتَبَ إِلَى عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ أَمَّا بَعْدُ نَحْوَهُ
[Machine] We arrived with Umar Al-Jabi'ah, and some paint similar to the color of silver was brought. It is only used in coating, not in drinking. So he said, "Indeed, in this (paint) there is an end."
قَدِمْنَا مَعَ عُمَرَ الْجَابِيَةَ فَأُتِيَ بِطِلَاءٍ مِثْلِ عَقِيدِ الرُّبِّ إِنَّمَا يُخَاضُ بِالْمَخَاوِضِ خَوْضًا فَقَالَ إِنَّ فِي هَذَا الشَّرَابِ مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ
[Machine] "I used to cook it for Abu Darda' until two-thirds of it were gone and one-third remained."
«كُنْتُ أَطْبُخُهُ لِأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثَاهُ وَيَبْقَى الثُّلُثُ»
38.138 [Machine] Drinking Watered-Down Milk
٣٨۔١٣٨ شُرْبُ اللَّبَنِ بِالْمَاءِ
Anas bin Malik said, that once a domestic sheep was milked for Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the house of Anas bin Malik. The milk was mixed with water drawn from the well in Anas's house. A tumbler of it was presented to Messenger of Allah ﷺ who drank from it. Then Abu Bakr was sitting on his left side and a bedouin on his right side. When the Prophet ﷺ removed the tumbler from his mouth, ʿUmar was afraid that the Prophet ﷺ might give it to the bedouin, so he said. "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Give it to Abu Bakr who is sitting by your side." But the Prophet ﷺ gave it to the bedouin, who was to his right and said, "You should start with the one on your right side." أَنَّهُ حُلِبَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَاةٌ دَاجِنٌ وَهِيَ فِي دَارِ أَنَسٍ وَشِيبَ لَبَنُهَا بِمَاءِ الْبِئْرِ وَأعْطَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ الْقَدَحَ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ حَتَّى إِذَا نَزَعَ الْقَدَحَ مِنْ فِيهِ وَعَلَى يَسَارِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعَلَى يَمِينِهِ أَعْرَابِيٌّ قَالَ عُمَرُ وَخَافَ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ أَعْطِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ عِنْدَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَعْطَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْأَيْمَنَ فَالْأَيْمَنَ»
38.139 [Machine] Sheep's milk
٣٨۔١٣٩ لَبَنُ الْغَنَمِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited us in our house, so we milked a sheep for him. To the right of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a man from the Bedouins, and behind the man was Umar. To the left of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was Abu Bakr. He drank, and Umar said to Abu Bakr, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the Bedouin the cup and said, "Give it to the right, for the right."
زَارَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي دَارِنَا فَحَلَبْنَا لَهُ دَاجِنًا لَنَا وَعَنْ يَمِينِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ وَمَنْ وَرَاءِ الرَّجُلِ عُمَرُ وَعَنْ يَسَارِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَشَرِبَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَأَعْطَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ الْقَدَحَ وَقَالَ «الْأَيْمَنَ فَالْأَيْمَنَ»
38.140 [Machine] Cow's milk
٣٨۔١٤٠ لَبَنُ الْبَقَرِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent down a cure for it. So, seek treatment with the milk of cows, for it contains healing from every tree." Abdur Rahman disagreed with him.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِأَلْبَانِ الْبَقَرِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تَرِمُّ مِنْ كُلِّ الشَّجَرِ» خَالَفَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah has not created a disease except that He has also created its cure. So, take the milk of cows, for it contains cure from every tree."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَضَعْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَضَعَ لَهُ شِفَاءً وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِأَلْبَانِ الْبَقَرِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تَرِمُّ مِنْ كُلِّ الشَّجَرِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah did not send down a disease except that He also sent down a cure for it." He mentioned the milk of cows and commanded to treat ailments with it, saying that it is a remedy for every disease.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً» ذَكَرَ أَلْبَانَ الْبَقَرِ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا وَقَالَ إِنَّهَا دَوَاءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ
38.141 [Machine] The prohibition of consuming high-quality milk.
٣٨۔١٤١ النَّهْيُ عَنْ لَبَنِ الْجَلَّالَةِ
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the consumption of milk from a cow that had just given birth." Abu Abdullah Rahman said."
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لَبَنِ الْجَلَّالَةِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الَّتِي تَأْكُلُ الْعُذْرَةَ

38.143 [Machine] When does the water bearer of the people drink?
٣٨۔١٤٣ مَتَى يَشْرَبُ سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ؟
“The oen who serves water to others should be the last one to drink from it.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3434)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ»
38.144 [Machine] Who enjoys the benefits of drinking?
٣٨۔١٤٤ مَنْ يُنَاوَلُ فَضْلَ الشَّرَابِ؟
A drink (milk mixed with water) was brought to Messenger of Allah ﷺ who drank some of it. A boy was sitting to his right, and some old men to his left. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the boy, "Do you allow me to give the rest of the drink to these people?" The boy said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I will not give preference to anyone over me to drink the rest of it from which you have drunk." Messenger of Allah ﷺ then handed the bowl (of drink) to the boy. (See Hadith No. 541). أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلَامٌ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ الْأَشْيَاخُ فَقَالَ لِلْغُلَامِ «ائْذَنْ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَ هَؤُلَاءِ» فَقَالَ الْغُلَامُ «يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَا أُوثِرَ بِنَصِيبِي مِنْكَ أَحَدًا فَتَلَّهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَدِهِ»
38.145 [Machine] Prohibition of drinking in vessels made of gold and silver.
٣٨۔١٤٥ النَّهْيُ عَنِ الشَّرَابِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter, and whoever drinks alcohol in this world will not drink it in the Hereafter, and whoever drinks in vessels of gold and silver in this world will not drink from them in the Hereafter." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The clothing of the people of Paradise, the drink of the people of Paradise, and the vessels of the people of Paradise."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَلْبَسْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَمَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَشْرَبْهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ وَمَنْ شَرِبَ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَشْرَبْ بِهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِبَاسُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَشَرَابُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَآنِيَةُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ»
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not drink in gold or silver utensils, and do not wear clothes of silk or Dibaj, for these things are for them (unbelievers) in this world and for you in the Hereafter." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5633)
أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ ذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَشْرَبُوا فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَلَا تَلْبَسُوا الْحَرِيرَ وَالدِّيبَاجَ فَإِنَّهَا لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَهُمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ»
[Machine] Hudhaifa said, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prohibited us from silver, gold, wearing silk and using perfumes and he said, 'These are for them in this worldly life, and for you in the hereafter.'"
قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا عَنِ الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَقَالَ «هِيَ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ»
38.146 [Machine] Tightening restrictions on drinking in gold and silver vessels.
٣٨۔١٤٦ التَّشْدِيدُ فِي الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ
(the wife of the Prophet) Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He who drinks in silver utensils is only filling his ʿAbdomen with Hell Fire." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5634)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ فِي آنِيَةِ الْفِضَّةِ إِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ»
[Machine] Narrated by Ibn Umar from some of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ , Isma'il bin Umayyah contradicted him.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ فِي إِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ إِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ» 6845 عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بِهِ 6846 عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أزَوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهِ خَالَفَهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the one who drinks from a silver utensil is only dragging fire from Hell into his stomach." This statement was contradicted by Muhammad ibn Ishaq, narrated by Nafi' from Safiyyah bint Abi 'Ubaid al-Thaqafi, the wife of Ibn 'Umar, from Umm Salamah, from the Prophet ﷺ .
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ فِي إِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ إِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ» خَالَفَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ امْرَأَةِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever drinks from a vessel of gold or silver, the Hellfire is being boiled in his stomach." Saad ibn Ibrahim contradicted him, narrated by Nafi' from a woman of Ibn Umar from Aisha.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ فِي إِنَاءِ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ فِضَّةٍ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ» خَالَفَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ امْرَأَةِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
“The one who drinks from a silver vessel is swallowing Hell-fire into his belly.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3413)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ فِي إِنَاءِ فِضَّةٍ إِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ النَّارَ» وَقَفَهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ
The Prophet ﷺ permitted the people who provided the pilgrims with water to stay at Mecca during the nights of Mina. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1743)
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks from vessels made of gold or silver, he is only dragging the fire of Hell into his stomach." He was followed by Burd ibn Sinan.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ فِي آنِيَةِ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ فِضَّةٍ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ» تَابَعَهُ بُرْدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks from a vessel made of gold or silver, then he is only swallowing fire into his stomach." Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Rawwad contradicted this and narrated from Nafi' from Abu Hurairah that he did not mention gold and silver. The correct opinion regarding all of this is the hadith of Ayyub, and Allah knows best.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ فِي إِنَاءِ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ إِنَاءِ فِضَّةٍ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ النَّارَ» خَالَفَهُ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي رَوَّادَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَوْلَهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَالصَّوَابُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ حَدِيثُ أَيُّوبَ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
38.147 [Machine] Drinking in cups
٣٨۔١٤٧ الشُّرْبُ فِي الْأَقْدَاحِ
Abu Humaid brought a cup of mix from a place called Al-Naqi. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Will you not cover it, even by placing a stick across its" (Using translation from Bukhārī 5605)
جَاءَ أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَبَنٍ فِي قَدَحٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا خَمَّرْتَهُ؟ وَلَوْ أَنْ تَعْرِضَ عَلَيْهِ عُودًا»
38.148 [Machine] The ritual ablution of someone in a state of major ritual impurity when they want to drink
٣٨۔١٤٨ وُضُوءِ الْجُنُبِ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ
"If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to sleep while he was Junub, he would perform Wudu', and if he wanted to eat or drink," she said: "he would wash his hands and then eat or drink." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 257)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَيَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ»

٣٨۔١٤٩ النَّفْخُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ

38.150 [Machine] Prohibition of breathing in the container
٣٨۔١٥٠ النَّهْيُ عَنِ التَّنَفُّسِ فِي الْإِنَاءِ
From his father, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you drinks, then do not breathe into the vessel." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1889)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الْإِنَاءِ»
38.151 [Machine] License for Breathing in the Vessel.
٣٨۔١٥١ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي التَّنَفُّسِ فِي الْإِنَاءِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to blow into a vessel three times. It was narrated by Waki' but it did not mention what was in the vessel.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ ثَلَاثًا» رَوَاهُ وَكِيعٌ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِي الْإِنَاءِ
[Machine] The translation of the passage is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take a breath three times after drinking."
«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا شَرِبَ تَنَفَّسَ ثَلَاثًا»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to breathe out twice or three times after drinking, and Anas used to breathe out three times. Abu Abdur Rahman Qatadah said to us regarding this hadith: it is a mistake, and the correct hadith is the hadith of Azrah. And Allah knows best.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَرِبَ تَنَفَّسَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا وَكَانَ أَنَسٌ يَتَنَفَّسُ ثَلَاثًا» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَتَادَةَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ حَدِيثُ عَزْرَةَ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمَ
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "When one of you drinks, let him take a breath three times, as it is purer and more wholesome."
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَنَفَّسْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ؛ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to exhale into the vessel when he drank and say, "This is a person and the eye of the eye."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ إِذَا شَرِبَ وَيَقُولُ «هَذَا أَمْرَأُ وَأَرْوَى»
38.152 [Machine] Drinking with the right hand
٣٨۔١٥٢ الشُّرْبُ بِالْيَمِينِ
When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3776)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ» خَالَفَهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ
When any of you eats, he should eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, he should drink with his right hand, for the devil eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3776)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»
38.153 [Machine] Prohibition of Drinking with the Left Hand
٣٨۔١٥٣ النَّهْيُ عَنِ الشُّرْبِ بِالشِّمَالِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited a man from eating or drinking with his left hand, for indeed the devil eats and drinks with his left hand.
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ بِشِمَالِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيُشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should eat with his left hand, nor drink with it, for indeed the Shaytan eats and drinks with his left hand."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ»
38.154 [Machine] The difference between the drinking of the Muslim and the drinking of the disbeliever
٣٨۔١٥٤ الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ شُرْبِ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَبَيْنَ شُرْبِ الْكَافِرِ
A believer drinks In one intestine whereas a non-believer drinks in seven intestines. (Using translation from Muslim 2063)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ضَافَهُ ضَيْفٌ وَهُوَ كَافِرٌ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَاةٍ فَحَلَبَتْ لَهُ فَشَرِبَ حِلَابَهَا ثُمَّ أُخْرَى فَشَرِبَهُ وَأُخْرَى فَشَرِبَهُ حَتَّى شَرِبَ حِلَابَ سَبْعِ شِيَاهٍ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ مِنَ الْغَدِ فَأَسْلَمَ فَأَمَرَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَاةٍ فَحُلِبَتْ فَشَرِبَ حِلَابَهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِأُخْرَى فَلَمْ يَسْتَتِمَّهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْمُسْلِمُ يَشْرَبُ فِي مَعِيٍّ وَاحِدٍ وَالْكَافِرُ يَشْرَبُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ»
38.155 [Machine] The statement after drinking
٣٨۔١٥٥ الْقَوْلُ بَعْدَ الشُّرْبِ
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate or drank, he said: "Praise be to Allah Who has given food and drink and made it easy to swallow, and provided an exit for it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3851)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَ وَسَقَى وَسَوَّغَهُ وَجَعَلَ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا»

٣٨۔١٥٦ الْقَوْلُ بَعْدَ الشِّبَعِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "Praise be to Allah, much abundant, good, blessed praise, not sufficient or dispensed with."
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا شَبِعَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»
38.157 [Machine] The Saying After Completing the Food.
٣٨۔١٥٧ الْقَوْلُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ
[Machine] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying after finishing the meal: "O Allah, to You belongs all praise, abundant, good and blessed praise, beyond what is sufficient, separated from dependence, and not in need of it."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»
38.158 [Machine] What does he say when his table is lifted up?
٣٨۔١٥٨ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا رُفِعَتْ مَائِدَتُهُ
When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3849)
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتِهِ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبِّنَا»

٣٨۔١٥٩ نَوْعٌ آخَرُ
[Machine] Abdulrahman ibn Jubair, who served the Prophet ﷺ for eight years, narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When food is brought near him, he (the Prophet) would say, 'Bismillah' (in the name of Allah). And when he finished eating, he would say, 'O Allah, you provided me with food and drink, enriched me and satisfied my hunger, guided me and selected me. Praise be to You for what You have given me.'"
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَمَّنْ خَدَمَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ثَمَانَ سِنِينَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللهِ» فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَطْعَمْتَ وَأَسْقَيْتَ وَأَغْنَيْتَ وَأَقْنَيْتَ وَهَدَيْتَ وَاجْتَبَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا أَعْطَيْتَ»
38.160 [Machine] The reward of praise be to Allah
٣٨۔١٦٠ ثَوَابُ الْحَمْدِ لِلَّهِ
Allah is pleased with His servant who says: Al-Hamdu lillah while taking a morsel of food and while drinking. (Using translation from Muslim 2734a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ لَيَرْضَى عَنِ الْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الْأَكْلَةَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ الشَّرْبَةَ فَيَحْمَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا»
38.161 [Machine] Invocation for the one who eats at his place.
٣٨۔١٦١ الدُّعَاءُ لِمَنْ أَكَلَ عِنْدَهُ
[Machine] My father and I were sitting when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached riding on a mule. My father said to him, "Won't you come down, O Messenger of Allah, so that we may feed you something and you may invoke blessings for us?" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down and ate, then he said, "O Allah, have mercy on them, forgive them, and bless their provisions."
كُنْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي قَاعِدَيْنِ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي أَلَا تَنْزِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَنُطْعِمَكَ شَيْئًا وَتَدْعُوَ بِالْبَرَكَةِ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَعِمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ ارْحَمْهُمْ فَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَبَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِي رِزْقِهِمْ»
38.162 [Machine] Supplication for the one who offers food for someone to break their fast.
٣٨۔١٦٢ الدُّعَاءُ لِمَنْ أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "The fasting people have broken their fast with you, the righteous have eaten your food, and the angels have descended upon you," when he broke his fast at someone's house. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman Yahya ibn Abi Kathir said, "I did not hear this from Anas." Suwayd ibn Nasr informed us, saying, "Abdullah informed us from Hisham, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, who said, 'I heard from Anas that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ broke his fast at someone's house, he narrated a hadith.'"
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ قَالَ «أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الْأَبْرَارُ وَتَنَزَّلَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ 6875 أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثْتُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ
38.163 [Machine] License for Fasting Before it is Lifted
٣٨۔١٦٣ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي الْقِيَامِ عَنِ الطَّعَامِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُرْفَعَ
[Machine] He mentioned that there was a plate near the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, "The people started eating from it, and whenever a group was full, they would stand up and other people would sit in their place." He said, "This continued until the first prayer."
أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ قَصْعَةً كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهَا كُلَّمَا شَبِعَ قَوْمٌ وَقَامُوا جَلَسَ مَكَانَهُمْ نَاسٌ آخَرُونَ» قَالَ كَذَلِكَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ الْأُولَى
38.164 [Machine] Taking perfumes in the wedding.
٣٨۔١٦٤ أَخْذُ الطِّيبِ فِي الْعُرْسِ
"If perfume was brought to the Prophet [SAW], he would not refuse it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5258)
«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطِيبٍ لَمْ يَرْدَّهُ»
