He heard Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman say: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best prayer after the obligatory (fard) prayers is prayer at night and the best fasting after the month of Ramadan is Al-Muharram.'" Shu'bah bin Al-Hajjaj narrated it in Mursal form.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allah's month al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after the prescribed prayer is the prayer during night.

Messenger of Allah (S) said: "The most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is that of Allah's month of Al-Muharram. And the most virtuous Salat after the obligatory is the night prayer."

[Machine] A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ which prayer is best after the obligatory prayers. He said, "Prayer during the middle of the night." He then asked, "Which fasting is best after the month of Ramadan?" He said, "The month of Allah which they call Muharram."

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best fasting after the month of Ramadan is the month of Allah, Al-Muharram, and the best prayer is prayer at night.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1613)   

البيهقي:٨٤٢٤ – كَمَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ الْعَدْلُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدُوسٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الْحَلَبِيُّ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جُنْدُبِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْمَفْرُوضَةِ الصَّلَاةُ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ وَإِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللهِ الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الْمُحَرَّمَ
