[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In every human being, there are 360 joints and for each joint, there is a charity (to be given)." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who can afford to do that?" He said, "It is to perform ablution and offer the Duha prayer."
9.24 [Machine] A Chapter on Taraweeh.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and saw that the people were praying during (the night of) Ramadan in the corner of the mosque. He asked: Who are these people ? It was said to him that those were people who had not learnt Quran. But Ubayy b. Ka'b is praying and they would pray behind him. The Prophet ﷺ said: They did right and it is good what they did. Abu Dawud said: This tradition is not strong, the narrator Muslim b. Khalid is weak. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1377)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in the masjid one night, and some people followed his prayer. Then he prayed the following night and more people came. Then they gathered on the third or fourth night and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come out to them. When morning came he said: "I saw what you did, and nothing prevented me from coming out to you but the fact that I feared that this would be made obligatory for you," and that was in Ramadan. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1604)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque. The people followed him and prayed as well. In the morning, people were talking about it, so more people came the next night and the Messenger of Allah went out and prayed, and the people prayed with him. This continued for the third night, and the people talked about it so much that the mosque became crowded and unable to accommodate everyone. The Messenger of Allah did not come out to them anymore, so the people became upset and said that they missed the prayer. He then came out for the Fajr prayer and after finishing it, he faced the people and testified to the correctness of their intentions. He said, "What prevented me from coming out to you was my fear that the night prayer would become obligatory for you, and you would have difficulty fulfilling it." He always encouraged them to observe the nights of Ramadan without explicitly commanding them to do so. He used to say, "Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Decree) out of faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive his previous sins." The Messenger of Allah passed away while this tradition was still practiced during the caliphate of Abu Bakr and the early years of Umar's caliphate. Umar eventually gathered the people behind a single reciter during the month of Ramadan, and this was the first time people congregated for one reciter during Ramadan.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out during the night and observed prayer in the mosque and some of the people prayed along with him. When it was morning the people talked about this and so a large number of people gathered there. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out for the second night, and they (the people) prayed along with him. When it was morning the people began to talk about it. So the mosque thronged with people on the third night. He (the Holy Prophet) came out and they prayed along with him. When it was the fourth night, the mosque was filled to its utmost capacity but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come out. Some persons among then cried:" Prayer." But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come to them till he came out for the morning prayer. When he had completed the morning prayer, he turned his face to the people and recited Tashahhud (I bear testi- mony that there is no god but Allah and I bear testimony that Muhammad is His Messen- ger) and then said: Your affair was not hidden from me in the night, but I was afraid that (my observing prayer continuously) might make the night prayer obligatory for you and you might be unable to perform it. (Using translation from Muslim 761b)

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say concerning Ramadan: 'Whoever spends its night in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins."' ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2194)
"We fasted with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Ramadan and he did not lead us in praying Qiyam until there were seven days left in the month, when he led us in praying Qiyam until one-third of the night had passed. Then he did not lead us in praying Qiyam when there were six days left. Then he led us praying Qiyam when there were five days left until one-half of the night had passed. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! What if we spend the rest of this night praying Nafl?" He said: "Whoever prays Qiyam with the Imam until he finishes, Allah (SWT) will record for him the Qiyam of a (whole) night." Then he did not lead us in prayer or pray Qiyam until there were three days of the month left. Then he led us in praying Qiyam when there were three days left. He gathered his family and wives (and led us in prayer) until we feared that we would miss Al-Falah. I (one of the narrators) said: "What is Al-Falah?" He said: "The suhur". (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1605)

[Machine] We mentioned the Night of Qadr in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "How many days have passed from the month?" We replied, "Twenty-two days have passed and there are eight (days) remaining." He ﷺ said, "No, rather twenty-two days have passed and there are seven (days) left. So, seek it on this night."

[Machine] Ubayy ibn Ka'b came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, something happened to me tonight in Ramadan." The Prophet asked, "What is it, Ubayy?" He replied, "There were some women in my house who said that they do not recite the Quran, so can we pray with your prayer (meaning, should I lead them in prayer)?" The Prophet said, "I prayed eight units of prayer with them, and then I performed Witr." The Prophet said, "It was almost similar to being satisfied (i.e., it was almost equivalent to the reward of performing Tahajjud), and he did not say anything more."

9.25 [Machine] A Chapter on Night Prayer
[Machine] Regarding the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, she said, "Don't you read the Quran?" I said, "Yes, I do." She said, "The character of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was the Quran." He said, "So, I decided to stand up and not ask her about anything."
[Machine] Regarding the Prophet's ﷺ night prayer, she (Aisha) asked him, "Don't you read this Surah: 'O you wrapped in garments'?". He replied, "Yes". She said, "Verily, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, made the night prayer obligatory in the beginning of this Surah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions would stand in prayer (at night) for so long that their feet would become swollen. Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, then withheld the last portion for twelve months in the heavens, before revealing it in the Quran. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed the lighter (ruling) at the end of this Surah. So the night prayer became voluntary after the obligatory prayer."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to love to consistently perform the prayer when he prayed it. And when he was hindered from standing in night prayer due to sleep, illness, or pain, he would pray twelve raka'at during the day."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one you sleeps, the devil ties three knots at the back of his neck, sealing every knot with, "You have a long night, so sleep." So if one awakes and mentions Allah, a knot will be loosened; if he performs ablution another knot will be loosened; and if he prays, the third knot will be loosened; and in the morning he will be active and in good spirits; otherwise he will be in bad spirits and sluggish. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1306)

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an expedition force [comprised] of many, and he asked each what he could recite, so each one of them mentioned what he could recite - meaning what he had memorized of the Qur'an. He came to one of the youngest men among them and said: 'What have you memorized O so-and-so?' He said: 'I memorized this and that and Surat Al-Baqarah.' He said: 'You memorized Surat Al-Baqarah?' He said: "Yes.' He said: "Then go, for you are their commander.' A man among their chief said: 'By Allah [O Messenger of Allah]! Nothing prevented me from learning Surat Al-Baqarah except fearing that I would not be able to stand with (in voluntary night prayer).' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Learn the Qur'an to recite it, for indeed the parable of the Qur'an for the one who recites it and stands with it (in prayer) is that of a bag full of musk whose scent fills the air all around. And the parable of the one who learns it then sleeps while it is in his memory is that of a bag containing musk that is tied shut.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2876)
