ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَجْهَرُ فِي صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ بِقِرَاءَتِهِ كُلِّهَا

ibnhibban:2582 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > ʿAbd al-Aʿlá b. Ḥammād > Wuhayb > Burd Abū al-ʿAlāʾ > ʿUbādah b. Nusay > Ghuḍayf b. al-Ḥārith

[Machine] I asked Aisha, "Did you see the Prophet ﷺ praying loudly or softly?" She replied, "Sometimes he would pray loudly, and sometimes he would pray softly." I said, "Praise be to Allah who has made flexibility in matters."

ابن حبّان:٢٥٨٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ عَنْ بُرْدٍ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ عَنْ غُضَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أَرَأَيْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَجْهَرُ بِصَلَاتِهِ أَوْ يُخَافِتُ بِهَا؟ قَالَتْ «رُبَّمَا جَهَرَ بِصَلَاتِهِ وَرُبَّمَا خَافَتَ بِهَا» قُلْتُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي الْأَمْرِ سَعَةً

“I came to ‘Aishah and asked: ‘Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite Qur’an loudly or softly?’ She said: ‘Sometimes he would recite loud and sometimes softly.’ I said, ‘Allahu Akbar! Praise is to Allah Who has made this matter one of broad scope.’”
