ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ مَنِ اسْتَعْجَمَ عَلَيْهِ قِرَاءَتُهُ بِاللَّيْلِ مِنَ النُّعَاسِ أَوِ النَّهَارِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ الِانْفِتَالُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ

ibnhibban:2585 – ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad al-Azdī > Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Hammām b. Munabbih > Abū Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you gets up by night (to pray), and falters in reciting the Qur'an (due to sleep), and he does not understand what he utters, he should sleep. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1311)  

ابن حبّان:٢٥٨٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْتَعْجَمَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ مَا يَقُولُ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ»

When any one of you gets up at night (for prayer) and his tongue falters in (the recitation) of the Qar'an, and he does not know what he is reciting, he should go to sleep.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you gets up by night (to pray), and falters in reciting the Qur'an (due to sleep), and he does not understand what he utters, he should sleep.  

أبو داود:١٣١١ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْتَعْجَمَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ مَا يَقُولُ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ  

ibnmajah:1372 – Yaʿqūb b. Ḥumayd b. Kāsib > Ḥātim b. Ismāʿīl > Abū Bakr b. Yaḥyá b. al-Naḍr from his father > Abū Hurayrah

“When anyone of you gets up to pray at night, and his tongue stumbles over the words of the Qur’an, and he does not know what he is saying, let him lie down.”  

ابن ماجة:١٣٧٢ – حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْتَعْجَمَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ مَا يَقُولُ اضْطَجَعَ  

ahmad:8231 –

[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you gets up at night and recites the Quran on his tongue without knowing what he is saying, he should lie down."  

البيهقي:٤٧٣٠ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْعَلَوِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ إِمْلَاءً أنبأ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ الْمُزَكِّي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أنبأ مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ قَالَ هَذَا مَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْتَعْجَمَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ مَا يَقُولُ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ

السيوطي:٢٢٩٣a –

"إِذَا قامَ أحدُكُمْ مِنَ الَّليلِ فاسْتَعْجمَ القرآنُ على لسانه فلم يدْرِ ما يقولُ فلينصَرفْ فْليضطجع" .
