46. Book of Tribulations and Great Wars (2/8)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I know what the Antichrist (Dajjal) has with him. He has two rivers, one fire that appears as blazing flames to anyone who sees it, and the other is water that appears white. So if any of you can find him, let him close his eyes and drink the water that appears as fire, for it is actually cool water. Beware of the other river, for it is the tribulation. Know that it is written between his eyes that he is a disbeliever, which can be read by those who can read and even those who cannot read. And know that one of his eyes is wiped over which a mark is left, and from that mark he will emerge towards the end of his affair on the outskirts of the Jordan River, near his house. He will awake and everyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day will be in the vicinity of the Jordan River. And know that he will kill one-third of the Muslims, defeat one-third, and leave one-third. The night will befall them, and some of the believers will say to others, 'What are you waiting for to join your brothers for the sake of pleasing your Lord? So whoever has extra food, let him feed his brother. Pray when dawn breaks and hurry in performing the prayer, then face your enemy.' When they stand for prayer, Jesus, the son of Mary, peace be upon him, will descend to lead them in prayer. After he finishes, he will say, 'This is how you should relieve yourselves from the enemy of Allah.' Abu Hazim said, 'He will melt like salt melts in water.' Abdullah ibn Amr said, 'He will vanish like salt dissolves in water.' Allah will give victory to the Muslims, and they will kill their enemies until even the rocks and the trees will call, 'O Abdullah, O slave of the Most Merciful, O Muslim, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.' So Allah will expose the Muslims, and they will break the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the jizya (tax on non-Muslims). While they are in this state, Allah will bring forth Gog and Magog. They will drink from the lake at the beginning, and the last of them will pass by it and say, 'We have defeated our enemies, here is a trace of water.' Then the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and his companions will follow them until they enter one of the cities in Palestine called Lud. They will say, 'We have defeated those on earth, let us fight those in the sky.' At that moment, Allah will send a disease upon them, opening up boils in their necks, and none of them will remain except that their stench will harm the Muslims. At that point, Jesus, peace be upon him, will call upon Allah, and Allah will send a wind that will throw them into the sea, all of them."

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Dajjal, one morning, as something despised but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees. When we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the evening, he saw that (fear) in us, and said: 'What is the matter with you?' We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you mentioned Dajjal this morning, and you spoke of him as something despised but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees.' He said: 'There are things that I fear more for you than the Dajjal. If he appears while I am among you, I will contend with him on your behalf, and if he appears when I am not among you, then each man must fend for himself, and Allah will take care of every Muslim on my behalf. He (Dajjal) will be a young man with curly hair and a protuberant eye; I liken him to 'Abdul-'Uzza bin Qatan. Whoever among you sees him, let him recite the first Verses of Surat Al-Kahf over him. He will emerge from Khallah, between Sham and Iraq, and will wreak havoc right and left. O slaves of Allah, remain steadfast.' We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how long will he stay on earth?' He said: 'Forty days, one day like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of his days like your days.' We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, on that day which is like a year, will the prayers of one day suffice us?' He said: 'Make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer).' We said: 'How fast will he move through the earth?' He said: 'Like a rain cloud driving by the wind.' He said: 'He will come to some people and call them, and they will respond and believe in him. Then he will command the sky to rain and it will rain, and he will command the earth to produce vegetation and it will do so, and their flocks will come back in the evening with their humps taller, their udders fuller and their flanks fatter than they have ever been. Then he will come to some (other) people and call them, and they will reject him, so he will turn away from them and they will suffer drought and be left with nothing. Then he will pass through the wasteland and will say: "Bring forth your treasures," then go away, and its treasures will follow him like a swarm of bees. Then he will call a man brimming with youth and will strike him with a sword and cut him in two. He will put the two pieces as far apart as the distance between an archer and his target. Then he will call him and he will come with his face shining, laughing. While they are like that, Allah will send 'Eisa bin Maryam, who will come down at the white minaret in the east of Damascus, wearing two Mahrud[garment dyed with Wars and then Saffron], resting his hands on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head, beads of perspiration will fall from it. Every disbeliever who smells the fragrance of his breath will die, and his breath will reach as far as his eye can see. Then he will set out and catch up with him (the Dajjal) at the gate of Ludd, and will kill him. Then the Prophet of Allah 'Eisa will come to some people whom Allah has protected, and he will wipe their faces and tell them of their status in Paradise. While they are like that, Allah will reveal to him: "O 'Eisa, I have brought forth some of My slaves whom no one will be able to kill, so take My slaves to Tur in safety." Then Gog and Magog will emerge and they will, as Allah describes, "swoop down from every mound."[21:96] The first of them will pass by lake Tiberias and drink from it, then the last of them will pass by it and will say: "There was water here once." The Prophet of Allah, 'Eisa and his companions will be besieged there until the head of an ox would be dearer to any one of them than one hundred Dinar are to any one of you today. Then, the Prophet of Allah, 'Eisa and his companions will supplicate Allah. Then Allah will send a worm in their necks and the next morning they will all die as one. The Prophet of Allah 'Eisa and his companions will come down and they will not find even the space of a hand span that is free of their stink, stench and blood. They will pray to Allah, and He will send birds with necks like the necks of Bactrian camels, which will pick them up and throw them wherever Allah wills. Then Allah will send rain which will not leave any house of clay or hair, and it will wash the earth until it leaves it like a mirror (or a smooth rock). Then it will be said to the earth: "Bring forth your fruits and bring back your blessing." On that day a group of people will eat from a (single) pomegranate and it will suffice them, and they will seek shelter beneath its skin. Allah will bless a milch- camel so that it will be sufficient for a large number of people, and a milch-cow will be sufficient for a whole tribe and a milch-ewe will be sufficient for a whole clan. While they are like that, Allah will send a pleasant wind which will seize them beneath their armpits and will take the soul of every Muslim, leaving the rest of the people fornicating like donkeys, and upon them will come the Hour.'" [Machine] My brother's mother, Umm Salama, gave birth to a boy and named him Al-Waleed. This was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "You have named him with the names of your kings. There will certainly be a man in this nation called Al-Waleed, and he will be worse for this nation than Pharaoh was for his people." Al-Zuhri said, "If Al-Waleed ibn Yazid is chosen as the leader, then he is the one. Otherwise, Al-Waleed ibn Abdul Malik is the one."

[Machine] Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention the hour? So he said, "I heard him say, 'You and the hour are like these two.' The two sheikhs, Shu'bah and Qatadah, agreed to remove it from the hadith of Shu'bah on the authority of Qatadah and Abu Tayyah on the authority of Anas."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Hour will not be established until there is no one left on the face of the earth who has any need for Allah, and until a woman can be openly married in broad daylight in the middle of the road, and no one objects to it or changes it. The likeness of those people will be like the one who says, 'If you move her a little away from the road, that would be better.' On that day, Abu Bakr and Umar will be among you."
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "The Hour (i.e., the Day of Judgment) will not be established except on the worst of people."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, recited, "When the victory of Allah and the conquest comes, and you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes" [Quran 110:2]. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "Groups will come out of it (i.e., the religion of Allah) just as they entered into it (i.e., the religion of Allah) in groups."

[Machine] I was sitting with Ali when Uqbah ibn Abi Ma'sud came to him. Ali said to him, "Oh young one, are you the one who speaks or are you the one who gives religious rulings to people?" Uqbah replied, "Indeed, I inform them of the future and the future is evil." Ali said, "Then tell us what you have heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the hundred." Uqbah said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There will not be a hundred years on Earth without a violent occurrence.'" Ali said, "You have indeed made a mistake, and you made a mistake in your initial ruling. Is that for the one who is alive at that time only? And is ease and relief only after the hundred years?" Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his summary.

[Machine] We were sitting one night with Abdullah and he was reciting the Quran to us. A man asked him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, did you ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ how many caliphs this Ummah will have?" Abdullah replied, "No one has asked me about this since I came to Iraq before you." He said, "We asked him and he said, 'The caliphs of the Children of Israel were twelve in number.'" I cannot tolerate discussing the narration from Mujalid and his contemporaries in this book; may Allah have mercy on them. Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.

[Machine] They have a happy heart and a loved one who came in dire need. Those who regret, seek refuge in you, O Allah. I did not participate in his betrayal, so I seek your protection today from the companion of evil. People used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about goodness, and I used to ask him about evil. So, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we were in evil, then Allah brought us goodness. Will there be evil after this goodness?" He said, "Yes." I said, "And is there evil behind that goodness?" He said, "Yes." I said, "How?" He said, "There will be leaders after me who do not follow my guidance, and they do not seek my Sunnah. There will also arise men with hearts like the hearts of men but bodies of animals." So, I said, "What should I do if I encounter that?" He said, "You should listen and obey the Amir al-Azam (the supreme leader) even if he strikes your back and takes your wealth."

It is said, "Scatterbrained is a piece of thin cloud, it appears as a shadow when it passes beneath the big cloud."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: In the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah, tribes will engage in conflicts and depart, and the pilgrims will be attacked and looted. There will be a battle in Mina, where killings will become abundant and blood will flow until their blood reaches the base of the Jamarat. Then their leader will flee and go between the Rukn and the Maqam to pledge allegiance, even though he dislikes it. It will be said to him, "If you do not stay overnight, we will strike your neck." He will pledge allegiance with the like of the number of the people of Badr who were satisfied with them, both those residing in heaven and those residing on earth. Abu Yusuf said: Muhammad ibn Abd Allah narrated to me from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from Abdullah ibn Amr, who said: People will perform Hajj together and agree upon something without an imam. While they are descending in Mina, they will be attacked like dogs, and the tribes will rise against each other and fight until blood flows in Al-Aqaba. They will then be frightened and come to their leader, who will stick his face to the Kaaba and cry, and I can see his tears. They will say to him, "Come, let us pledge allegiance to you." He will reply, "Woe to you! How many covenants have you broken and how much blood have you shed?" He will then reluctantly accept their pledge of allegiance. When you meet him, pledge your allegiance to him, for he is the Mahdi on earth and the Mahdi in the heavens. The chain of narration for this hadith is weak.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, prayed the Asr prayer with us, then he stood up as a preacher after Asr, until Maghrib (sunset) and explained to us what will happen until the Day of Judgment. He praised and glorified Allah, then he said, "After that, know that the world is sweet and green, and indeed Allah has made you successors in it. He watches how you act. So be cautious of the world and be cautious of women. Know that the children of Adam are created in various stages. Among them are those who are born as believers, live as believers, and die as believers. And among them are those who are born as disbelievers, live as disbelievers, and die as disbelievers. And among them are those who are born as believers, live as believers, and die as disbelievers. And among them are those who are born as disbelievers, live as disbelievers, and die as believers. Know that anger is a burning coal in the heart of Adam's son. Haven't you seen his eyes reddening and his veins swelling? So if any of you finds anything from that, let him restrain himself from taking revenge. The best of men are those who are slow to anger and quick to forgive, and the worst of men are those who are quick to anger and slow to forgive. When a man is good in judgment but poor in seeking, then let him rely on it. And when a man is poor in judgment but good in seeking, then let him rely on it. Know that no man's reputation should prevent him from speaking the truth when he knows it. Verily, every traitor will have a flag on the Day of Judgment according to the extent of his betrayal. And verily, the greatest betrayal is the betrayal of the general leader. Know that the traitor will have his flag at his place of betrayal. Verily, the best of jihad is a word of truth in the presence of an oppressive ruler." When it was close to Maghrib, he said, "Verily, what remains of the world is like what remains of this day of yours."

[Machine] "We went out with Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari and said to him, 'Give us advice.' He said, 'Adhere to the fear of Allah and hold fast to the congregation of Muhammad, peace be upon him. For surely, Allah Almighty will not gather the congregation of Muhammad on misguidance. Indeed, the religion of Allah is one, so beware of division and hold fast to the fear of Allah. Show patience until a good ending is achieved and refrain from being transgressors.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, "Adhere to the fear of Allah and the congregation, for Allah Almighty does not unite this Ummah (community) upon misguidance. And you should have patience until the righteous prevail and the wicked are at ease."
“I saw the Prophet ﷺ stone the Pillar, on the Day of Sacrifice, from atop a reddish-brown camel of his, without beating anyone, driving them off or telling them to go away.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3035)
«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَرْمِي الْجَمْرَةَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ لَا ضَرْبَ وَلَا طَرْدَ وَلَا إِلَيْكَ إِلَيْكَ»
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ that he used to say, "You will never cease to be in good as long as the people of your desert are self-sufficient from the people of your town." He said, "And you should give them a portion of the crops and fruits so that they can be with you in the land, and do not prevent them from it due to the large number of those who will keep it hidden from you." He said, "They will say, 'As long as we were hungry and you were satisfied, as long as we were poor and you were affluent, now we have been enriched and you are suffering, so grant us relief from the land's capacity.' ”He said, "And the land will incline for you as a favor, and those who will perish will perish from it, and those who will remain will remain until the necks are freed, and then the land will be at peace with you after that, so that the freed will regret." He said, "Then the land will incline for you again as another favor, and those who will perish will perish from it, and those who will remain will remain until the necks are freed, and then the land will be at peace with you." They will say, "Our Lord, grant us freedom, our Lord, grant us freedom," and Allah will say, "You lied, you lied. I will grant freedom." He said, "And the followers of this nation will be tested with tremors, so if they repent, Allah will accept their repentance." He said, "And if they revert, Allah will revert upon them with tremors, stoning, casting down, sinking, disfigurement, and lightning. So when it is said that people have perished, they have indeed perished. And Allah, the Almighty, will not punish a nation until it commits treachery." They said, "And what is their treachery?" He said, "They confess their sins but do not repent, and hearts will find solace in what is within them of goodness and evil, just as a tree finds solace in what is within it, until a doer of good cannot increase in goodness, and an evildoer cannot repent." And that is because Allah, exalted and glorified, said, "No, indeed, their hearts are covered with the evils of what they used to earn" [Al-Mutaffifin: 14].

Once the Prophet ﷺ stood over one of the high buildings of Medina and then said (to the people), "Do you see what I see?" They said, "No." He said, "I see afflictions falling among your houses as rain drops fall." (Using translation from Bukhārī 7060)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, the head of the Dajjal (Antichrist) has the letters "kuhbu kuhbu" written on it and he will claim, 'I am your Lord.' So whoever says, 'You are my Lord,' he will be put to trial, and whoever says, 'You lied, my Lord is Allah,' and relies upon Him, and turns to Him in repentance, he will not be harmed."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What calamities descended tonight? And what treasures have been opened? Wake up the companions of the rooms and alert their wives, for many who are clothed in this world will be naked on the Day of Resurrection."

[Machine] We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we asked him, "Which is better, the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or the mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ responded, "Prayer in my mosque here is better than praying there four times. How excellent of a mosque it is! Soon, a time will come when a man will not have anything of his property that is the size of a horse's bridle from this land, where he can see Bayt al-Maqdis, which will be better for him than the whole world."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You will be enlisted with armies, an army in Sham (Syria), an army in Iraq, and an army in Yemen." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, if I have a choice, then which one should I join?" Indeed, Allah, the Almighty, has taken upon Himself the responsibility of protecting me and its people."
