ahmad:27159Sufyān > ʿAmr > Nāfiʿ b. Jubayr b. Muṭʿim > Abū Shurayḥ al-Khuzāʿī

He who believes in Allah and in the last day should honour his guest; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should not harm his neighbor; he who believes in Allah and in the last day should speak good or keep silence. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5154)

ahmad:27160Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Ibn Abū Dhiʾb > Saʿīd / al-Maqburī > Abū Shurayḥ al-Kaʿbī

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah made Makkah sacred, it was not made sacred by the people. Whoever believes in Allah, and the Last Day, then let them not shed blood in it, nor cut down any of its trees. If one tries to make an excuse by saying: 'It was made lawful for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ' then indeed Allah made it lawful for me but He did not make it lawful for the people, and it was only made lawful for me for an hour of a day. Then it is returned to being sacred until the Day of Judgement. Then, to you people of Khuza'ah who killed this man from Hudhail: I am his 'Aqil, so whomever (one of his relatives) is killed after today, then his people have two options; either they have him killed, or they take the blood-money from him.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1406)

ahmad:27161Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Mālik > Saʿīd b. Abū Saʿīd > Abū Shurayḥ al-Kaʿbī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or remain silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. His hospitality lasts for one day and one night. And the maximum duration of hospitality is three days. Anything beyond that is considered charity, and it is not permissible for him to keep his guest with him until he expels him."

ahmad:27162Yazīd b. Hārūn > Ibn Abū Dhiʾb > al-Maqburī > Abū Shurayḥ al-Kaʿbī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is that?" He said, "A person's neighbor does not feel secure from his harm." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, and what is his harm?" He said, "His evil."

ahmad:27163Ṣafwān > ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd from his father > Abū Shurayḥ b. ʿAmr al-Khuzāʿī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of sitting on the sidewalks. If any of you sit on the sidewalks, then give it its due. We asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is its due?' He replied, 'Lowering your gaze, returning greetings, enjoining good, and forbidding evil.'"

ahmad:27164Abū Kāmil > Layth > Saʿīd b. Abū Saʿīd > Abū Shurayḥ al-ʿAdawī

"O Commander! Permit me to tell you of a statement that the Messenger of Allah said the day after the Conquest of Makkah, which my ears heard, my hear understood, and my eyes saw, when he said it. He (the Prophet) praised Allah, then he said: 'Makkah has been made sacred by Allah, not by the people. It is not permissible for any man who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood in it, or to cut its trees. If any one seeks permission to fight in it because the Messenger of Allah fought in it, say to him: Allah allowed his Messenger (to fight therein) but He did not allow you. Rather permission was given to me (to fight therein) for a short period one day, and now its sanctity has been restored as it as before. Let those who are present convey (this mews) to those who are absent.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2876)

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Shurayh Al 'Adawi from Khuzay'ah, who was one of the Companions, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "Hospitality is three days, and its extension is a day and a night. It is not permissible for anyone to stay with his brother until he causes him inconvenience." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah, what causes inconvenience?" He said: "He stays with him and does not find anything to feed him."
