11. Anṣār (5/12)
[Machine] I found one hundred dinars during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, so he said: "Inform us about its surroundings." I repeated it to him until he mentioned three situations, and then I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with it?"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Bilal, put a break between your call to prayer and the iqamah so that the person eating can finish their food at ease, and the person performing ablution can fulfill their needs comfortably."
The above mentioned tradition has also been transmitted in a similar manner by Ibn 'Abbas from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1491)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Tabarak [Al-Mulk (67)] one Friday, while he was standing and reminding us of the Days of Allah (i.e., preaching to us). Abu Darda’ or Abu Dharr raised an eyebrow at me and said: ‘When was this Surah revealed? For I have not heard it before now.’ He (Ubayy) gestured to him that he should remain silent. When they finished, he said: ‘I asked you when this Surah was revealed and you did not answer me.” Ubayy said: ‘You have gained nothing from your prayer today except the idle talk that you engaged in.’ He went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about that, and what Ubayy had said to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Ubayy spoke the truth.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1111)
Abu Dhar (ra) used to say that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was at Makkah, the roof of my house was opened and Jibril descended, opened my chest, and washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a golden tray full of wisdom and faith, and having poured its contents into my chest, he closed it. Then he took my hand and ascended with me to the heaven. When Jibril reached the nearest heaven, he said to the gatekeeper of the heaven, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper asked, 'who is it?' Jibril answered, 'Jibril'. He asked, 'Is there anyone with you?' Jibril replied, 'Muhammad ﷺ is with me.' He asked, 'Has he been called?', Jibril said, 'Yes'. So, the gate was opened and we went over the nearest heaven, and there we saw a man sitting with Aswida (a large number of people) of his right and Aswida on his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked towards his left he wept. He said (to me), 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious son'. I said, 'Who is this man O Jibril?' Jibril replied, 'He is Adam, and the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on the right are the people of Paradise, and those on the left are the people of the (Hell) Fire. So, when he looks to the right, he laughs, and when he looks to the left he weeps.' Then Jibril ascended with me till he reached the second heaven and said to the gatekeeper, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper said to him the same as the gatekeeper of the first heaven has said, and he opened the gate." Anas added: Abu Dhar mentioned that Prophet ﷺ met Idris, Musa (Moses), 'Isa (Jesus) and Ibrahim (Abraham) over the heavens, but he did not specify their places (i.e., on which heavens each of them was), but he mentioned that he (the Prophet ﷺ) had met Adam on the nearest heaven, and Ibrahim on the sixth. Anas said, "When Jibril and the Prophet ﷺ passed by Idris, the latter said, 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious brother!' the Prophet ﷺ asked, 'Who is he?' Jibril said, 'He is Idris.' " The Prophet ﷺ added, "Then I passed by Musa who said, 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious brother!' I said, 'Who is he?' Jibril said, 'He is Musa.' Then I passed by 'Isa who said, 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious brother!' I said, 'Who is he?' He replied, 'He is 'Isa.' Then I passed by the Prophet ﷺ Ibrahim who said, 'Welcome, O pious Prophet and pious son!' I said, 'Who is he?' Jibril replied, 'He is Ibrahim'." Narrated Ibn 'Abbas and Abu Haiyya Al-Ansari: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then Jibril ascended with me to a place where I heard the creaking of pens." Ibn Hazm and Anas bin Malik state the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah enjoined fifty Salat (prayers) on me. When I returned with this order of Allah, I passed by Musa who asked me, 'What has Allah enjoined on your followers?' I replied, 'He has enjoined fifty Salat (prayers) on them.' On the Musa said to me, 'Go back to your Lord (and appeal for reduction), for your followers will not be able to bear it.' So, I returned to my Lord and asked for some reduction, and He reduced it to half. When I passed by Musa again and informed him about it, he once more said to me, 'Go back to your Lord, for your followers will not be able to bear it.' So, I returned to my Lord similarly as before, and half of it was reduced. I again passed by Musa and he said to me, 'Go back to your Lord, for your followers will not be able to bear it.' I again returned to my Lord and He said, 'These are five (Salat-prayers) and they are all (equal to) fifty (in reward), for My Word does not change.' I returned to Musa, he again told me to return to my Lord (for further reduction) but I said to him 'I feel shy of asking my Lord now.' Then Jibril took me till we reached Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e., lote tree of utmost boundary) which was shrouded in colors indescribable. Then I was admitted into Paradise where I found small tents (made) of pearls and its earth was musk (a kind of perfume)." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3342)

11.26 [Machine] Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari
[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and stopped at Dhu al-Hulayfah. Men hurried to Medina, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I stayed with him. When morning came, he asked about them and it was said that they had hurried to Medina. He said, "Hurry to Medina, and the women, for indeed, they will leave it more beautiful than it was." Then he said, "I wish my hair would catch fire when a fire will come out from Yemen, from the mountain of Al-Wiraq, and it will illuminate the necks of the camels in Busra, like the daylight."
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)
[Machine] I used to serve the Prophet ﷺ and then I would go to the mosque when I finished my work, and I would lie down in it. One day, the Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was lying down, and he nudged me with his foot. So I sat up, and he said to me, "O Abu Dharr, what will you do if you are taken out of it?" I said, "I will return to the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ and to my house." He said, "And what will you do if you are taken out of it?" I said, "Then I will take my sword and strike anyone who takes me out." The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand on my shoulder and said, "May Allah forgive you, O Abu Dharr, but you will be thrown with them where they throw you, and you will be taken where they take you, even if it is to the land of the Abyssinians." Abu Dharr added, "So when I was expelled to Rabdhah, the prayers were established." Then a black man, who had some nice clothes and good perfume, came to pray, and when he saw me, he started to go back. I said to him, "You are just like what you are, but I am being driven away according to the order of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Islam is a humble mount that can only be ridden by those who are humble."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Two are better than one, and three are better than two, and four are better than three. So, adhere to the group, for indeed Allah does not bring my nation together except upon guidance."
[Machine] That Abu Salim al-Jayshani came to Abu Umayyah in his house and said: "I heard Abu Dhar saying that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If one of you loves his companion, let him go to him in his house and inform him that he loves him for the sake of Allah." And I have come to you in your house.
[Machine] "He was indeed a good young man. Abu Dharr met him and said, 'O Brother, ask forgiveness for me.' He replied, 'You are the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and you are most deserving to ask forgiveness for me.' Abu Dharr said, 'I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab saying, 'He was indeed a good young man, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Verily, Allah struck with truth both on the tongue and in the heart of Umar.' Abdul Rahman bin Awf said on the tongue of Umar."
[Machine] "I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, 'Among the dangers that concern me the most for my ummah (community) is the misguiding leaders.' He repeated it three times. I asked him, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it that worries you about this misguiding leader for your ummah?' He replied, 'Misguiding leaders.'"
[Machine] I heard Abu Dharr saying, "I was walking alongside the Prophet ﷺ one day towards his house, and I heard him say, 'Other than the Dajjal, I fear the misleading leaders the most for my Ummah.' When I became afraid that he might enter (his house), I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is more dangerous for your nation than the Dajjal?" He replied, "The misleading leaders."
"The Messenger of Allah (saas) said to me: "Shall I not tell you of a treasure which is one of the treasures of Paradise?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).'" (sahih) (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3825)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been given five things which no prophet before me was given: I have been granted victory through terror, for a distance of one month's journey; the earth has been made a place of worship and a means of purification for me; booty has been made lawful for me, and it was not made lawful for anyone before me; I have been given the ability to intercede on behalf of my Ummah (nation), and every prophet was sent only to his own people, whereas I have been sent to all of mankind; and it will be said on the Day of Resurrection, 'Ask, and you will be granted, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The sun disappears under the Throne, and it is given permission to return. However, on the night when its morning begins from the West, it will not be given permission to return. Then, when it rises, it will be commanded, 'Rise from your place.' Then, it will recite the verse, 'Do they await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allah wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.'" (Quran 6:158)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever fasts three days of every month has fasted the entire year."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, "Do you know which deeds are most beloved to Allah?" One person said, "Prayer and charity." Another person said, "Jihad (struggle in the way of Allah)." He said, "The most beloved deeds to Allah are love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah."
[Machine] I used to be a disbeliever, but Allah guided me to Islam. I was far from water, and my family was with me. I became junub (in a state of major ritual impurity), so it troubled me. Abu Dharr was described to me, so I searched for him and entered a mosque in Mina. I recognized him by the description: an elderly man with a flowing beard. I went and stood next to him while he was praying and greeted him, but he did not respond. Then he performed a prayer that was complete, perfect, and prolonged. When he finished, he responded to me. I said, "Are you Abu Dharr?" He replied, "My family claims so." He said, "I used to be a disbeliever, and Allah guided me to Islam. I used to neglect my religion, I was far from water and my family was with me. When junub occurred to me, it troubled me. He said, "Do you know Abu Dharr?" I said, "Yes." He said, "I embraced Islam while I was gathering firewood in Madinah. Ayyub or similar name commanded the Prophet ﷺ to give me a pair of camels and a flock of sheep. I would be far from water, and my family would be with me. When junub occurred to me, it troubled me to the extent that I thought I would be destroyed. So, I sat on one of the camels and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the midday while he was sitting in the shade of the mosque with a group of his companions. I got off the camel and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined!' He said, 'What has ruined you?' So, I told him my story, and he laughed. Then he called a man from his family, and a black slave girl came with a vessel of water in which there was some dirt. He ordered a man from the people to screen me, so I screened myself and performed Ghusl. Then I went to him, and he said, 'The good land is a purifier, as long as you do not find water. When you do find water, then be certain of its purity.'"

[Machine] About water, when I am afflicted with janabah (impurity after sexual activity), and I do not find water, I perform tayammum (dry ablution). But something gets into my mind about it, so I went to Abu Dhar's house, but I did not find him. Then I went to the mosque, and I was told how he usually looked like. When I saw him praying, I recognized him by his description, so I greeted him, but he did not respond until he left and then he responded. So I said, "Are you Abu Dhar?" He replied, "My family thinks so." So I said, "No one is more beloved to me than you." He said, "You have seen me." So I said, "I used to live away from water, so when I am afflicted with janabah, I wait for days to perform tayammum, but something happens to me or some confusion arises, so I asked, 'Do you know Abu Dhar?' I was in the city, so I walked to it, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me with some booty, so I went to collect it, and then I became afflicted with janabah, so I performed tayammum with sand and prayed for days, but something happened to me until I thought I was going to perish. So I ordered a camel or a saddle and I rode until I reached the city, and I found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ under the shade of the mosque along with a group of his companions. So I greeted him and he raised his head and said, 'Subhan Allah! Abu Dhar?' I said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah! I have been afflicted with janabah, so I performed tayammum for days and something happened to me until I thought I was going to perish.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated for me and asked for water, and a black woman came with a container of water in a leather bag. I covered myself with the cloak, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered a man to cover me, and I performed ghusl (full ablution). Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Abu Dhar! Pure sand from the desert is a means of purification as long as you cannot find water, even if there were ten Hajj pilgrims. But if you have access to water, then use it to touch your skin.'"

So, I went to Abu Dharr while he was praying, and I saw him prolonging the standing (Qiyam) and increasing the bowing (Ruku') and the prostration (Sujud). I mentioned that to him, and he said, "I do not mind if I stay longer in prayer, for I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever performs a Rak'ah (unit of prayer) or prostrates during a Sajdah (prostration), a degree is raised for him and a sin is erased from him because of it.'"

[Machine] Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Successful is the one who purifies his heart for the sake of faith, and makes his heart sound, his tongue truthful, his soul content, and his character upright. He also makes his ears attentive and his eyes observant. As for the ears, they are deaf to sinful speech, and the eyes are restrained from looking at what is forbidden. Indeed, successful is the one who makes his heart ever watchful."

[Machine] I said to Abu Dharr, "If I had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , I would have asked him something." He asked, "And what would you have asked him?" I said, "I would have asked him whether he has seen his Lord." Abu Dharr said, "Indeed, I have asked him about that, and he said, 'I have seen Him as a light. How can I see Him?' Abu Dharr said, 'I have heard it from Ibn Hisham, meaning Mu'adh, who narrated it from his father, just as Humam has said, 'I have seen it.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I have been given five things that no one before me was given. I was sent to the red and black people. The earth has been made pure for me as a place of prayer and purification. The spoils of war have been made lawful for me, and they were not lawful for anyone before me. I have been given victory through awe, and my enemy is made fearful of me even from a distance of one month of travel. It was said to me, 'Ask and you will be given,' and I have kept my prayer as an intercession for my Ummah. It will be a means of nearness for some of you, by the will of Allah, for those who do not associate anything with Allah."

[Machine] He said, "A good deed is rewarded tenfold or more, and a bad deed is forgiven or overlooked. [Machine] "I sat with a group of Quraysh and a man approached, and he began praying, bowing, prostrating, then standing, then bowing, and prostrating again without sitting. So, I said, "By Allah, I don't see him responding to Shaf' or Witr prayers." They said, "Why don't you approach him and ask him?" So, I stood up and said, "O Abdullah, I don't see you responding to Shaf' or Witr prayers." He said, "Certainly, Allah knows. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever prostrates to Allah in a single prostration, Allah writes for him a good deed, erases a sin for him, and raises him in rank.' So, I said, "Who are you?" He replied, "Abu Dharr." So, I returned to my companions and said, "May Allah reward you for the worst company. You ordered me to teach a man from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

The Prophet ﷺ as saying: There are three to whom Allah will not speak and at whom He will not look on the Day of Resurrection, and whom He will not declare pure, and they will have a painful punishment. I asked: Who are they, Messenger of Allah, they are losers and disappointed ? He repeated it three times. I asked: Who are they. Messenger of Allah, they are losers and disappointed ? He replied: The one who wears a trailing robe, the one who takes account of what he gives, and the one who produces a ready sale of a commodity by false swearing. [Machine] "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to his mother and said, ask her how long she carried him. So, I went to her and asked her, and she said, I carried him for twelve months. He then sent me to her again and said, ask her about his cry when he was born. So, I went back to her and asked her, and she said, he cried with the cry of a newborn baby for one month. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, I have kept something hidden for you. He replied, you have kept for me the snout of a female sheep and the smoke. He intended to say the word 'smoke' but couldn't, so he said, 'the smoke, the smoke.' Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, be silent, for you will not exceed your limit."

Those for which Allah made a choice for His Angels and His servants (and the words are):" Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him." (Using translation from Muslim 2731a)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If my servant approaches me with sins equivalent to the amount of the earth, I will meet him with forgiveness equivalent to it."
[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: It does not please me that I die while having any gold, either a dinar or half of a dinar, unless I have given it to a debtor."
Abu Dharr said (and not the Prophet): If there is not anything like the back of a saddle in front of a man who is praying, then a donkey, a black dog, and a woman cut off his prayer. I asked him: Why has the black dog been specified, distinguishing it from a red, a yellow and a white dog? He replied: My nephew, I also asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the same question as you asked me. He said: The black dog is a devil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 702)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Abu Dharr, perform the prayer at its appointed time. If you come to the people and they have already prayed, then you have indeed fulfilled your prayer. But if they have not prayed, then you should pray with them, and it will be a voluntary prayer for you."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , rode a donkey and made me ride behind him. He said, "O Abu Dharr, if people were to suffer from severe hunger and you couldn't walk from your bed to your mosque, what would you do?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Keep yourself chaste." He said, "O Abu Dharr, if people were to face a severe plague and the house, meaning the grave, is filled with a servant, what would you do?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Be patient." He said, "O Abu Dharr, if people were to kill each other until the streets are filled with blood, what would you do?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Stay in your house and lock the door." I said, "But what if I am not left alone?" He said, "Join those you are afraid of, and be among them." I said, "Should I take my weapons?" He said, "Then you would be participating in what they are in. However, if you fear the gleam of the sword, cover your face with the edge of your garment until he commits his sin and you commit yours."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "O Abu Dharr, when you cook, increase the broth and maintain good relations with your neighbors or swear by your neighbors."
Messenger of Allah, what about the vessels of that Cistern? He said: By Him in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the vessels would outnumber the stars in the sky and its planets shining on a dark cloudless night. These would be the vessels of Paradise. He who drinks out of it (the Cistern) would never feel thirsty. There would flow in it two spouts from Paradise and he who would drink out of it would not feel thirsty; and the distance between its (two corners) is that between 'Amman and Aila, and its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. (Using translation from Muslim 2300)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed one night and recited a verse until he kneeled and prostrated with it, which says, "If you should punish them - indeed they are your servants; but if you forgive them - indeed it is you who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise" [Al-Ma'idah 118]. When morning came, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you continued to recite this verse until you kneeled and prostrated with it." He said, "Indeed, I asked my Lord for intercession for my Ummah (nation) and He granted it to me, and it is inclusive, if Allah wills, for those who do not associate anything with Allah."

[Machine] To me, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "O Abu Dharr, which mountain is this?" I said, "It is Mount Uhud, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it does not please me that it be a mountain of gold that I spend in the path of Allah and leave even a qirat from it." I said, "A chest, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "A qirat." He repeated it three times, and then he said, "O Abu Dharr, I only say what is lesser, and I do not say what is greater."

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you gets up to perform prayer, then indeed mercy is facing him, so he should not smooth the pebbles.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1027)
[Machine] I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which action is the best?" He replied, "Belief in Allah and striving in His cause." I then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which slaves are the best?" He said, "Those whose lives are most valuable and whose ransom is the highest." I asked, "And if I cannot find any?" He said, "Then help a worker who is in need, or work yourself so you can provide for the destitute." I asked, "And if I am not able to do that?" He said, "Refrain from causing harm to others, as this is a charity you give on behalf of yourself."

"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Which mosque was built first?' He said: 'Al-Masjid Al-Haram (in Makkah).' I said: 'Then which?' He said: 'then Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem).' I said: 'How many years between them?' He said: 'Forty years, but the whole earth is a mosque for you, so pray wherever you are when the time for prayer comes.'"
