We came to AbuHurayrah who had become insolvent. He said: I shall decide between you on the basis of the decision of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: If anyone becomes insolvent or dies and the man (the seller) finds his very property with him, he is more entitled to it (than others).

أَتَيْنَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فِي صَاحِبٍ لَنَا أَفْلَسَ فَقَالَ لأَقْضِيَنَّ فِيكُمْ بِقَضَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَفْلَسَ أَوْ مَاتَ فَوَجَدَ رَجُلٌ مَتَاعَهُ بِعَيْنِهِ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ

We came to Abu Hurairah and asked him about a companion of ours who had become bankrupt. He said: “This is what the Prophet ﷺ ruled: 'Any man who dies or becomes bankrupt, the owner of the product has more right to it, if he finds the exact thing.”

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ عَالٍ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ صحيح
