[Machine] I was in Basra, so I entered the mosque and saw an old man with people gathered around him, as he was addressing them. I heard him saying, "The best people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then, after them, there will come a people who will become fat and love fats. They will testify before being asked to do so." I asked, "Who is this?" They replied, "Imran ibn al-Husayn."  

الطبراني:١٥٧٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَرَامَةَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ فَدَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا شَيْخٌ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ يَجْتَمِعُونَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ قَوْمٌ يُسَمِّنُونَ وَيُحِبُّونَ السِّمَنَ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلُوهَا» قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَكَذَا رَوَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ عَنْ هِلاَلِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ وَرَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْحُفَّاظِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ هِلاَلِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِيهِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُدْرِكٍ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ حَدَّثَنَا هِلاَلُ بْنُ يِسَافٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ عِنْدِي مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

"The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them,then those who follow them, then those who follow them."(He ﷺsaid that) three times. "Then, after them a people will come who increase in fatness, loving fatness, giving testimony before they are asked for it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ قَوْمٌ يَتَسَمَّنُونَ يُحِبُّونَ السِّمَنَ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلُوهَا

[Machine] "I went to Basra and entered the mosque, where I saw an old man leaning on a staff, talking. He said, 'The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will be people who will give testimony before they are asked.' So I asked, 'Who is this old man?' They replied, 'Imran ibn Husein.'"  

الحاكم:٥٩٨٨ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ

انْطَلَقْتُ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فَدَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا شَيْخٌ مُسْتَنِدٌ إِلَى أُسْطُوَانَةٍ يُحَدِّثُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي أَقْوَامٌ يُعْطُونَ الشَّهَادَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلُوهَا» فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا الشَّيْخُ؟ قَالُوا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ عَالٍ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم
