"The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid: 'Let the one who has most knowledge of the Book of Allah lead the people in prayer. If they are equal in terms of knowledge of the Qur'h, let the one who emigrated first (lead them). If they are equal in terms of emigration, let the one who has more knowledge of the Sunnah, (lead them). If they are equal in terms of knowledge of the Sunnah, let the one who is oldest (lead them). Do not lead a man in prayer in his place of authority, and do not sit in his place of honor, unless he gives you permission."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 780)

The one who is most versed in Allah's Book should act as Imam for the people, but If they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has most knowledge regarding Sunnah if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; it they emigrated at the same time, then the earliest one to embrace Islam. No man must lead another in prayer where (the latter) has authority, or sit in his place of honour in his house, without his permission. Ashajj in his narration used the word," age" in place of" Islam".

The one of you who is most versed in the Books of Allah should act as imam for the people; and the one who is the earliest of them in reciting (the Qur’an); if they are equally versed in reciting it, then the earliest of them to emigrate (to Medina); if they emigrated at the same time, then the oldest of them. No man must lead another in prayer in his house (i.e. in the house of a latter) or where the latter has authority, or sit in his place of honor without his permission. Shu’bah said: I asked Isma’il: what is the meaning of his place of honor? He replied: his throne.

Messenger of Allah said: "The one who recites most of the Book of Allah is to lead the people (in prayers). If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable in the Sunnah among them. If they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest of them to emigrate. If they are equal in their emigration then the eldest among them. And a man is not to be led in prayer in the place of his authority, and his spot of esteem in his home is not to be sat on without his permission."

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The people should be lead by the one who is most well-Versed in recitation of the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then they should be led by the one who emigrated first. If they are equal in emigration, then they should be led by the eldest. A man should not be led among his family or in his place of authority; no one should be sat in his place of honor in his house without permission, or without his permission.’”

أحمد:١٧٠٩٩حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَأَقْدَمُهُمْ قِرَاءَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِيالْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَكْبَرُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يُؤَمَّنَّ الرَّجُلُ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَلَا فِي أَهْلِهِ وَلَا يُجْلَسُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ أَوْ يَأْذَنَ لَكَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid: 'Let the one who has most knowledge of the Book of Allah lead the people in prayer. If they are equal in terms of knowledge of the Qur'h, let the one who emigrated first (lead them). If they are equal in terms of emigration, let the one who has more knowledge of the Sunnah, (lead them). If they are equal in terms of knowledge of the Sunnah, let the one who is oldest (lead them). Do not lead a man in prayer in his place of authority, and do not sit in his place of honor, unless he gives you permission."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 780)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The one with the most seniority in migration should lead the people. If they are equal in migration, then the one with the most knowledge in religion should lead them. If they are equal in religion, then the one who recites the Qur'an best should lead them. A man should not lead others in his dominion, nor should he sit on his honored seat without permission."

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The people should be lead by the one who is most well-Versed in recitation of the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then they should be led by the one who emigrated first. If they are equal in emigration, then they should be led by the eldest. A man should not be led among his family or in his place of authority; no one should be sat in his place of honor in his house without permission, or without his permission.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 980)

The one who is most versed in Allah's Book should act as Imam for the people, but If they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has most knowledge regarding Sunnah if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; it they emigrated at the same time, then the earliest one to embrace Islam. No man must lead another in prayer where (the latter) has authority, or sit in his place of honour in his house, without his permission. Ashajj in his narration used the word," age" in place of" Islam". (Using translation from Muslim 673a)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He who leads the people in prayer should be the one who knows the Qur'an the most. If they are equal in recitation of the Qur'an, then the one who migrated earlier should lead them. If they are equal in migration, then the one who has more understanding of the religion should lead them. If they are equal in religious understanding, then the eldest among them should lead. No man should be appointed leader over his own authority or sit on his own honor without permission." This was narrated by Jarir ibn Hazim from Al-A'mash, and it was narrated by a group from Al-A'mash with the same wording.

If your recitations are equal, then the one who immigrated first [to Islam] should lead. And if your immigration is equal, then the one who is older should lead. No man should lead another man in his own authority, nor should he sit on his honor except with his permission."  

البيهقي:٥٣٢١وَحَدَّثَنَا الْإِمَامُ أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ سَهْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ إِمْلَاءً أنبأ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَسَدِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْبَدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَؤُمُّكُمْ أَقْرَؤُكُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَأَقْدَمُكُمْ قِرَاءَةً لِلْقُرْآنِ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَتُكُمْ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُكُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُكُمْ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُكُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يَؤُمُّ رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا فِي أَهْلِهِ وَلَا يَجْلِسُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ
