the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Islam is based on ˹the following˺ five ˹practices˺: (1) to ˹verbally˺ testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah, (2) to establish the Ṣalāh (five regular ritual prayers), (3) to give the Zakāh (obligatory charity), (4) ˹to perform˺ the Ḥajj (annual pilgrimage to Makkah), and (5) to observe fasts ˹during the month˺ of Ramaḍān."

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «بُنِيَ الإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: (١) شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، (٢) وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاَةِ، (٣) وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، (٤) وَالْحَجِّ، (٥) وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ»

I have given a pledge of allegiance to Messenger of Allah ﷺ for to testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and Muhammad is His Apostle, to offer prayers perfectly, to pay Zakat, to listen to and obey (Allah's and His Prophet's orders), and to give good advice to every Muslim.

سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا ؓ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاَةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Islam is built upon five: bearing witness that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger; establishing the prayer; giving the zakah; performing pilgrimage to the House; and fasting Ramadan.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «بُنِيَ الإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاَةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ».

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Islam is based upon five: the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the Salat, giving the Zakat, fasting (the month of) Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House."

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بُنِيَ الإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ شَهَادَةُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامُ الصَّلاَةِ وَإِيتَاءُ الزَّكَاةِ وَصَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ وَحَجُّ الْبَيْتِ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

"When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] died, the 'Arabs apostatized, so 'Umar said: 'O Abu Bakr, how can you fight the 'Arabs?' Abu Bakr said: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "I have been commanded to fight the people until they bear witness to La ilaha illallah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah) and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and they establish Salah and pay Zakah." By Allah, if they withhold from me a young goat that they used to give to the Messenger of Allah [SAW], I will fight them for it.' 'Umar said: 'By Allah, as soon as I realized how certain Abu Bakr was, I knew that it was the truth.'"

لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ارْتَدَّتِ الْعَرَبُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَيْفَ تُقَاتِلُ الْعَرَبَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَاللَّهِ لَوْ مَنَعُونِي عَنَاقًا مِمَّا كَانُوا يُعْطُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَقَاتَلْتُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ رَأْىَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَدْ شُرِحَ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify to La ilaha ill-allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and establish regular prayers and pay Zakat.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establish prayer, and give zakat. Then their blood and wealth shall be unlawful to me, except in accordance with Islamic law, and their reckoning is with Allah."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ ثُمَّ قَدْ حُرِّمَ عَلَيَّ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ ﷻ

I pledged to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to perform Salah, pay the Zakah, be sincere toward every Muslim and forsake the idolaters. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4175)

بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

"When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] died, the 'Arabs apostatized, so 'Umar said: 'O Abu Bakr, how can you fight the 'Arabs?' Abu Bakr said: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "I have been commanded to fight the people until they bear witness to La ilaha illallah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah) and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and they establish Salah and pay Zakah." By Allah, if they withhold from me a young goat that they used to give to the Messenger of Allah [SAW], I will fight them for it.' لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ارْتَدَّتِ الْعَرَبُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَاتِلَ الْعَرَبَ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَاللَّهِ لَوْ مَنَعُونِي عَنَاقًا مِمَّا كَانُوا يُعْطُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَأُقَاتِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ» قَالَ عُمَرُ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ رَأْيَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَدْ شُرِحَ عَلَيْهِ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to pledge allegiance on the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and on the establishment of prayer, the giving of zakat, and listening and obeying for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, and giving advice to every Muslim.

«كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا بَايَعَ بَايَعَ عَلَى شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ»

[AI] "I have pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and to listen and obey, establish prayer, pay zakat, and advise every Muslim."

I heard the messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Verily, al-Islam is founded on five (pillars): testifying the fact that there is no god but Allah, establishment of prayer, payment of Zakat, fast of Ramadan and Pilgrimage to the House. (Using translation from Muslim 16d)

"أمرتُ أن أُقَاتِلَ الناسَ حتى يَشْهَدُوا أن لا إلهَ إلَّا الله وأني رسولُ اللهِ، ويُقيِمُوا الصلاةَ، وَيُؤتُوا الزكاة".

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify to La ilaha ill-allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and establish regular prayers and pay Zakat.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 71)

"أمِرْتُ أنْ أقَاتلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يشْهَدُوا أن لا إِله إِلا الله، وَأنى رسولُ اللهِ، ويُقِيموا الصلاةَ، ويؤتوا الزَّكَاةَ".

"بُنى الإِسلامُ عَلَى خمسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أن لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللهُ , وَأنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَإقَام الصَّلاةِ، وَإيتَاءِ الزَّكاة، وَحَجِّ البَيت، وَصَوْم رَمَضَان".

"عَنْ أَنَس قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُول الله ﷺ : (أُمِرتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إلَّا الله وَأنِّى رَسُولُ الله، وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ، وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ) والله لَوْ مَنَعُونِى عِقَالًا مِمَّا كَانُوا يُعْطُونَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ لأُقَاتِلَنَّهمْ عَلَيْهِ".

"عن أَنس قال: لَمَّا تُوُفِّىَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ ارْتَدَّتِ الْعَرَبُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّاب: يَا أبَا بَكْرٍ: أتريد أنْ تُقَاتِلَ الْعَرَبَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : "أُمِرْتُ أنْ أُقَاتِلَ النّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَنِّى رَسُولُ الله، وَيُقيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ، وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ" وَالله لَوْ مَنَعُونِى عَنَاقًا مِمَّا كَانُوا يُعْطُونَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ لأُقَاتِلَنَّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ رَأىَ أبِى بَكْرٍ شرُحَ عَلَيْهِ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ".
