2. Book of Ṣalāh (3/9)
The Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come running. Come walking with tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 775)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you come to the prayer, you must bring peace and tranquility. Whatever you catch, then perform the prayer, and whatever you miss, then complete it."
2.60 [Machine] The Virtue of Walking to the Mosques
[Machine] There was a man in the city whom I did not know in the city one of those who was farthest from the mosque and he used to pray the prayers with the Messenger of Allah. It was said to him, "If you bought a donkey to ride on during the hot and dark times?" He said, "By Allah, it does not please me that my place is closer to the mosque by clinging to it." So, the Prophet ﷺ was informed about that, and he asked him about it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, my traces, sins, returning to my family, my approach, and my retreat, should they be written?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah will grant you all of that and give you what you expect."
2.61 [Machine] In the prayer of the man behind the row by himself
[Machine] "He heard that he had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while a man was praying behind him without joining the rows. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to repeat the prayer. Abu Muhammad said, 'Ahmad ibn Hanbal used to confirm the hadith of Amr ibn Murrah, while I follow the hadith of Yazid ibn Ziyad ibn Abi Al-Ja'd.'"
“Ziyad bin Abu-Ja’d took me by the hand and made me stand near an old man at Raqqah, whose name was Wabisah bin Ma’bad. He said: ‘A man performed prayer behind the row on his own, and the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to repeat the prayer.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1004)
Get up, I shall lead you in prayer. Anas said: I got up and took a mat which had become black on account of long use. I then washed it with water. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon it. I and the orphan (Ibn Abi Dumairah, the freed slave of the prophet) stood in a row behind him. The old women stood behind us. He then led us in two raka'at of prayer and left. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 612)
2.62 [Machine] The Importance of Reading in the Afternoon
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray with about thirty verses in the first two units of the noon prayer and in the last two units, he would recite about half of that. In the afternoon prayer, he would recite about two units' worth of verses from the noon prayer and in the last two units, he would recite about half of that.
[Machine] Narrated by Abu Sa'id, He added to it the measure of reading {Alif-Lam-Meem Tanzeel} [Surah As-Sajdah:2] in the Sajdah.
The Prophet ﷺ used to recite "By the heaven holding the big stars" and: "By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star)" and similar surahs in Zuhr and 'Asr. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 979)
2.63 [Machine] How to perform the reading in Dhuhr and Asr?
My father said, "The Prophet ﷺ used to recite Al-Fatiha along with another Sura in the first two rakʿat of the Zuhr and ʿAsr prayers. A verse or so was audible at times and he used to prolong the first rakʿa." (Using translation from Bukhārī 778)
[Machine] From Yahya through his chain of narration, similar to it.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to read in the first two units of the Dhuhr prayer Surat Al-Fatiha and two other Surahs. In the last two units, he used to read Surat Al-Fatiha only and he would make us hear the verse. He would prolong the first unit more than the second unit, and he would do the same in the Asr and Fajr prayers.

2.65 [Machine] The value of reading in the evening.
[Machine] Muadh used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then go to his people and lead them in prayer. One night, he prayed the 'Isha prayer and recited Surah Al-Baqarah. A man from the Ansar came and prayed behind him, then left. The man heard that Muadh was complaining about him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he asked him about it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Muadh, "You are causing a fitna (trial) and a fitna." Then he ordered him to recite two middle Surahs from the Mufassal (the last part of the Qur'an). Abu Muhammad said, "We adhere to this."

[Machine] I heard my uncle saying that he prayed with the Prophet ﷺ and he heard him reciting in one of the two Rak'ahs of Fajr prayer, "And by the date-palm" [Quran 20:10]. Shu'bah said, "I asked him again and he said, 'I heard him reciting it with "Ba" sound.'"
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting in the first rak'ah of Fajr, "{By the fig and the olive, And [by] Mount Sinai, And [by] this secure city [Makkah]. Indeed, We created man in the best of stature}" [Quran 95:1-4].
[Machine] He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting in the Fajr prayer, "When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up" [At-Takwir 1]. When he reached the verse, "And by the night when it covers with darkness" [At-Takwir 17], I said to myself, "What is the night when it covers with darkness?"

[Machine] "I entered with my father to visit Abu Barza Al-Aslami, who was sitting on a high couch made of reeds. My father asked him about the time of the Prophet's ﷺ prayers. Abu Barza replied, 'He used to pray Dhuhr (midday) when the sun started to decline, then he would pray Asr (afternoon prayer). After that, one of us would go to his family in the farthest part of the city while the sun was still bright.' I forgot what he mentioned about Maghrib (evening prayer). 'It was preferable to delay Isha (night prayer) to the time you call darkness. The Prophet would leave from Fajr (dawn prayer), and a person would recognize his companion. Additionally, he would recite from around sixty to one hundred verses in it.'"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "What is the matter with people who lift their gaze to the sky when praying?" And he spoke sternly concerning that until he said: "They must stop that or they will certainly lose their eyesight." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1193)

When "Glorify the name of your mighty Lord" was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Use it when bowing, and when "Glorify the name of your most high Lord" was revealed, he said: Use it when prostrating yourself. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 869)
he performed Salat with the Prophet, and that while he was bowing he would say: (Subhana Rabbiyal Azim); "Glorious is my Lord the Magnificent" and while prostrating: (Subhana Rabbiyal A'la) 'Glorious is my Lord the Most High.' And he would not recite an Ayah mentioning mercy, except that he would stop and ask (for mercy), and he would not recite an Ayah mentioning punishment, except that he would stop and seek refuge (with Allah from it).
I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he said the opening Takbir of the prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. When he said the Takbir before bowing he did likewise, and when he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),' he did likewise, then he said: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, to You be praise).' But he did not do that when he prostrated or when he raised his head from prostration. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 876)

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Imam is to be followed. Say the Takbir when he says it; bow if he bows; if he says 'Samiʿa l-lahu liman hamidah', say, ' Rabbana wa laka l-hamd', prostrate if he prostrates and pray sitting altogether if he prays sitting." (Using translation from Bukhārī 734)
[Machine] He said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon to us and taught us our prayers and Sunnah. He said, 'I reckon that he said, "When the prayer is established, one of you should lead the prayer. When he says 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), then say 'Allahu Akbar' too. And when he recites 'Not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray' [Surah Al-Fatiha, verse 7], then say 'Ameen,' for Allah will respond to you. And when he says 'Allahu Akbar' and bows, then say 'Allahu Akbar' and bow too, for indeed, the Imam bows before you and raises before you." The Prophet ﷺ said, 'And this is like that.' And when he says 'Allah hears whoever praises Him,' then say 'Our Lord, to You is the praise.' Or he said, 'Our Lord, to You is the praise.' For indeed, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, said on the tongue of His Prophet, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him.'"
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his head after bowing, he said: O Allah! our Lord, to Thee be the praise that would fill all the heavens and the earth, and all that it pleases Thee besides (them). O, thou art worthy of praise and glory, most worthy of what a servant says, and we all are Thy servants, no one can withhold what Thou givest or give what Thou withholdest, and riches cannot avail a wealthy person against Thee. (Using translation from Muslim 477)
[Machine] The translation into English is as follows:
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would raise his head from bowing, he would say, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him. Our Lord, all praise is due to You, filling the heavens, filling the earth, filling whatever is between them, and filling whatever You will after that.' It was asked to Abdullah, 'Do you hold on to it?' He said, 'No.' And it was asked to him, 'Do you say this in obligatory prayers?' He said, 'Perhaps.' And he said, 'All of it is good.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I have already begun, so do not precede me in the bowing or in the prostration. For indeed, no matter how much I precede you in the bowing, you will catch up with me when I rise, and no matter how much I precede you in the prostration, you will catch up with me when I rise."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Isn't he who raises his head before the Imam afraid that Allah may transform his head into that of a donkey or his figure (face) into that of a donkey?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 691)
[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ encouraged them to pray and forbade them from preceding him in the bowing and prostration when he was leading them in prayer. He also instructed them to not leave before he finishes his prayer and he said, "I see you from behind me and in front of me."

[Machine] "Your Prophet was commanded to prostrate on seven prominences and was commanded not to braid hair nor wear a garment," Shu'bah said. And he narrated to me another time, saying, "I was commanded to prostrate and not to braid hair nor wear a garment."
The Prophet ﷺ said: "I have been commanded to prostrate on seven bones: on the forehead"- and he pointed with his hand- "on the nose, the hands, the knees and the ends of the feet." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1097)

"I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he prostrated, he lowered his knees before his hands, and when he came up he raised his hands before his knees." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1089)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him not cross his legs like a camel does, and let him place his hands before his knees." Abdullah was asked, "What do you say?" He said, "It is all good." The people of Kufa preferred the first option."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited to peck like a crow, and to spread (the forearms) like a wild beast, and to fix a place in the mosque like a camel which fixes its place. These are the wordings of Qutaybah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 862)

2.77 [Machine] Prohibition of reading during bowing and prostration
The Prophet ﷺ lifted the curtain (and saw that) the people were standing in rows(of prayers) behind Abu Bakr. He said: O people, there remained nothing that gives good tidings from prophethood except a true dream which a Muslim has himself or which another Muslim has for him. I have been prohibited to recite the Qur’an while bowing or prostration. As regards owing, exalt the Lord in it, and as to prostration, make supplication with exertion in it, that is worthy of being accepted. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 876)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been prohibited from reciting while in a state of bowing or prostration. As for the bowing, glorify your Lord in it, and as for the prostration, strive in supplication, as it is most likely that you will be answered."
2.78 [Machine] In the one that does not complete the bowing and prostration
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘No prayer is acceptable in which a man does not settle his spine when bowing and when prostrating.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 870)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The worst of people in theft is the one who steals his own prayer." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how does one steal his own prayer?" He said, "He does not complete its bowing and prostration."
"While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting with us around him, a man came in, turned towards the Qiblah and prayed. When he had finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people with Salam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'And also to you. Go and pray, for you have not prayed.' So he went and prayed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started watching him, and he (the man) did not know what was wrong with it. When he had finished the prayer, he came and greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people with salam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'And also to you. Go and pray, for you have not prayed.' He repeated it two or three times, then the man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is wrong with my prayer?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The prayer of any of you is not complete unless he performs wudu properly as enjoined by Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. So he should wash his face, his arms up to the elbows, and wipe his head, and (wash) his feet up to the ankles. Then he should magnify Allah (SWT) and praise Him and glorify Him.'" - (One of the narrators) Hammam said: "I heard him say: 'He should praise Allah and glorify Him and magnify Him." He said: "I heard both of them." -"He (the Prophet ﷺ) said: 'He should recite whatever is easy for him of the Quran that Allah has taught him and permitted him in it (the prayer). Then he should say the Takbir and bow until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him)' and stand up straight until his backbone is straight (and at ease). Then he should say Takbir and prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground." "I heard him say: his forehead, until his joints settle and he is relaxed. Then he should say the Takbir and sit up until his backbone is straight (and at ease). Then he should prostrate until he has placed his face firmly on the ground and he is relaxed. If he does not do that then he has not completed his prayer." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1136)
