[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to read in the first two units of the Dhuhr prayer Surat Al-Fatiha and two other Surahs. In the last two units, he used to read Surat Al-Fatiha only and he would make us hear the verse. He would prolong the first unit more than the second unit, and he would do the same in the Asr and Fajr prayers.  

الدارمي:١٣٣٠أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer and recite in the first two units (rak'ahs) of Asr and Dhuhr with two surahs and the opening chapter of the Quran. He would sometimes recite a verse that we could hear. In the last two units (rak'ahs), he would recite the opening chapter of the Quran. He used to prolong the first rak'ah of the Fajr (dawn) prayer and the first rak'ah of the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.

[Machine] That the Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer and would recite in the noon and afternoon prayers in the first two cycles (rak'ahs) two chapters from the Qur'an, then a verse on occasion, and in the last two cycles, he would recite the same chapter. He would prolong the recitation in the first rak'ah of the noon prayer and the afternoon prayer.

He would recite in the last two units of the prayer the mother of the Quran (Al-Fatiha). He would prolong the recitation in the first unit more than the second unit, and the same for the Asr prayer and the Fajr prayer. 'Affan and Abaan bin Yazid Al-Atar said the same.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would recite in the first two rak'ahs of the noon and afternoon prayers the opening chapter of the Book and another surah. He would sometimes recite loud enough to make audible to us the verse and would recite in the last two rak'ahs Surat al-Faitiha (only). (Using translation from Muslim 451b)

He would also recite the opening chapter in the last two Rak'ahs of the prayer, and he would prolong his recitation in the first Rak'ah more than in the second Rak'ah. The same would apply to the Asr prayer and the Fajr prayer. This narration is reported in Sahih from the Hadith of Hammam ibn Yahya and others.
