[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the first two units of the Dhuhr prayer the mother of the book (Al-Fatiha) and two surahs. Sometimes, he would let us hear a verse. He would recite in the last two units of the prayer the mother of the Quran (Al-Fatiha). He would prolong the recitation in the first unit more than the second unit, and the same for the Asr prayer and the Fajr prayer. 'Affan and Abaan bin Yazid Al-Atar said the same.

My father said, "The Prophet ﷺ uses to recite Al-Fatiha followed by another Sura in the first two rakʿat of the prayer and used to recite only Al-Fatiha in the last two rakʿat of the Zuhr prayer. Sometimes a verse or so was audible and he used to prolong the first rakʿa more than the second and used to do the same in the ʿAsr and Fajr prayers."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer and recite in the first two units (rak'ahs) of Asr and Dhuhr with two surahs and the opening chapter of the Quran. He would sometimes recite a verse that we could hear. In the last two units (rak'ahs), he would recite the opening chapter of the Quran. He used to prolong the first rak'ah of the Fajr (dawn) prayer and the first rak'ah of the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.
