Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I saw (in a dream) the people assembled in a gathering, and then Abu Bakr got up and drew one or two buckets of water (from a well) but there was weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. Then ʿUmar took the bucket and in his hands it turned into a very large bucket. I had never seen anyone amongst: the people who could draw the water as strongly as ʿUmar till all the people drank their fill and watered their camels that knelt down there.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ مُجْتَمِعِينَ فِي صَعِيدٍ فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي بَعْضِ نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا عُمَرُ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ بِيَدِهِ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا فِي النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ وَقَالَ هَمَّامٌ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَنَزَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ذَنُوبَيْنِ  

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well, on it there was a bucket. I drew water from the well as much as Allah wished. Then Ibn Abi Quhafa (i.e. Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and brought out one or two buckets (of water) and there was weakness in his drawing the water. May Allah forgive his weakness for him. Then the bucket turned into a very big one and Ibn Al-Khattab took it over and I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work, till the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there."

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. "While (in a dream), I was standing by a well, drawing water from it. Abu Bakr and ʿUmar came to me. Abu Bakr took the bucket (from me) and drew one or two buckets of water, and there was some weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al-Khattab took the bucket from Abu Bakr, and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hands. I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work. He drew so much water that the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels." (Wahab, a sub-narrator said, "till their camels drank and knelt down.")  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عَلَى بِئْرٍ أَنْزِعُ مِنْهَا جَاءَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَأَخَذَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الدَّلْوَ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ فِي يَدِهِ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ فَنَزَعَ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ قَالَ وَهْبٌ الْعَطَنُ مَبْرَكُ الإِبِلِ يَقُولُ حَتَّى رَوِيَتِ الإِبِلُ فَأَنَاخَتْ  

The Prophet ﷺ said, "In a dream I saw myself drawing water from a well with a bucket. Abu Bakr came and drew a bucket or two weakly. May Allah forgive him. Then ʿUmar bin Al-Khattab came and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hands. I had never seen such a mighty person as he in doing such hard work till all the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أُرِيتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَنْزِعُ بِدَلْوِ بَكْرَةٍ عَلَى قَلِيبٍ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ نَزْعًا ضَعِيفًا وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى رَوِيَ النَّاسُ وَضَرَبُوا بِعَطَنٍ قَالَ ابْنُ جُبَيْرٍ الْعَبْقَرِيُّ عِتَاقُ الزَّرَابِيِّ وَقَالَ يَحْيَى الزَّرَابِيُّ الطَّنَافِسُ لَهَا خَمْلٌ رَقِيقٌ {مَبْثُوثَةٌ} كَثِيرَةٌ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself (in a dream) standing by a well. I drew from it as much water as Allah wished me to draw, and then Ibn Quhafa (Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and drew one or two buckets, and there was weakness in his drawing----may Allah forgive him! Then ʿUmar took the bucket which turned into something like a big drum. I had never seen a powerful man among the people working as perfectly and vigorously as he did. (He drew so much water that) the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there. (See Hadith No. 16, Vol. 5)

about the Prophet's dream in which he has seen Abu Bakr and ʿUmar: The Prophet ﷺ said, "I saw (in a dream) that the people had gathered. Then Abu Bakr stood up and pulled out one or two buckets full of water (from a well) and there was weakness in his pulling -- may Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al- Khattab stood up, and the bucket turned into a very large one and I have never seen any strong man among the people doing such a hard job. He pulled out so much water that the people (drank to their satisfaction) and watered their camels to their fill, (and then after quenching their thirst) they sat beside the water."

I pulled out from it as many buckets of water as Allah wished, and then Ibn Abi Quhafa (Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and pulled out one or two full buckets, and there was weakness in his pull--may Allah forgive him. Then the bucket turned into a very large one and ʿUmar bin Al-Khattab took it. I have never seen any strong man among the people, drawing water with such strength as ʿUmar did, till the people (drank to their satisfaction and) watered their camels to their fill; whereupon the camels sat beside the water."  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي عَلَى قَلِيبٍ وَعَلَيْهَا دَلْوٌ فَنَزَعْتُ مِنْهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ فَنَزَعَ مِنْهَا ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَأَخَذَهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَنْزِعُ نَزْعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ  

While I was asleep I saw myself on a well with a leathern bucket on a pulley. I drew (water) out of that as Allah wished me (to draw). Then the son of Abu Quhafa (Abu Bakr) drew from it one bucketful or two and there was some weakness in drawing that (may Allah forgive him). Then that bucket (changed into a large bucket) and Ibn Khattab drew it. I did not see any strongest man drawing it like 'Umar b. Khattab. He brought out so much water that the camels of the people had enough to drink and then laid down (for rest).

I saw (in a dream) as if I was drawing water with a leathern bucket on a wooden pulley. There came Abu Bakr and he drew out a bucketful or two and as he drew out, some weakness (was perceived in it) (may Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, forgive him). Then Umar came in order to serve water -and the bucket was changed into a large leather bucket and I did not see such a wonderful man amongst persons (drawing water) and he went on serving water to the people until they were fully satisfied and then went to their resting places.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أُرِيتُ كَأَنِّي أَنْزِعُ بِدَلْوِ بَكْرَةٍ عَلَى قَلِيبٍ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ فَنَزَعَ نَزْعًا ضَعِيفًا وَاللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ فَاسْتَقَى فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرْيَهُ حَتَّى رَوِيَ النَّاسُ وَضَرَبُوا الْعَطَنَ  

"I saw that the people had gathered, so Abu Bakr drew a bucket or two buckets- in him was some weakness- and Allah forgive him. Then 'Umar stood to draw and the bucket turned into a very large one, and I have never seen a strong man toiling so hard until it was as if the people had gathered at a (camel) watering hole."  

عَنْ رُؤْيَا النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ اجْتَمَعُوا فَنَزَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ فِيهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ فَنَزَعَ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was at a well watering (the animals), Abu Bakr came and drew out a sin or two sins, and in them there was a double, and Allah forgave him. Then Umar came and drew out sins until they became heavy in his hand. He then struck the people with a garment and I did not see any beast that it would flee from its own sweat."

Then Ibn Al- Khattab took the bucket from Abu Bakr's hand and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hand. I have never seen any strong man among the people doing such a hard job as ʿUmar did, till (the people drank to their satisfaction) and water their camels to their fill and they sat near the water." [Machine] About the vision of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning Abu Bakr and Umar, he said, "I saw the people gathering and then Abu Bakr stood up and removed one or two sins, and in his removal there was weakness, and Allah forgave him. Then Umar removed sins until the west became apparent. I did not see anyone more intelligent than the people, spreading his intelligence until the people were struck with astonishment."

عَنْ رُؤْيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ اجْتَمَعُوا فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ»  

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "I saw in a dream that the people were gathered, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafa stood up and took away one or two sins. His effort in removing them was weak, but Allah forgave him. Then, Umar ibn al-Khattab took them and threw them away to the west. I did not see a powerful gust of wind blowing until the people were struck by a catastrophe."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنَّ النَّاسَ جُمِعُوا فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ»  

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well, on it there was a bucket. I drew water from the well as much as Allah wished. Then Ibn Abi Quhafa (i.e. Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and brought out one or two buckets (of water) and there was weakness in his drawing the water. May Allah forgive his weakness for him. Then the bucket turned into a very big one and Ibn Al-Khattab took it over and I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work, till the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there." سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «بَيْنَمَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي عَلَى قُلَيْبٍ فَنَزَعْتُ مِنْهَا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ نَزَعَ ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضِعْفٌ وَلْيَغْفِرِ اللهُ لَهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرْ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَنْزِعُ نَزْعَهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ»  

about the Prophet's dream in which he has seen Abu Bakr and ʿUmar: The Prophet ﷺ said, "I saw (in a dream) that the people had gathered. Then Abu Bakr stood up and pulled out one or two buckets full of water (from a well) and there was weakness in his pulling -- may Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al- Khattab stood up, and the bucket turned into a very large one and I have never seen any strong man among the people doing such a hard job. He pulled out so much water that the people (drank to their satisfaction) and watered their camels to their fill, (and then after quenching their thirst) they sat beside the water." "رأَيتُ في المنَام؛ أَنِّى أَنْزعُ بِدَلْو بَكَرَة على قَلِيبٍ، فَجاءَ أبو بكر فَنَزَع ذَنُوبًا أَو ذَنُوبيْنِ، وفى بعْض نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ، واللَّهُ يغْفِرُ لَهُ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَها عُمرُ فاسْتحالَت بِيَدِهِ غَرْبًا، فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَريّا في النَّاسِ يَفْرى فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضرب النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ".  

"بَينَا أنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيتُنى عَلَى قُلَيب فَنَزَعْتُ منْها مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ نَزع ابْنُ أبي قُحَافَةَ ذَنُوبًا، أَوْ ذَنُوبَينَ، وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ، فَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ استَحَالتْ غَرْبًا فَأَخَذَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الخَطَّاب فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَريًا يفْرِى فَريَّهُ".
