I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well, on it there was a bucket. I drew water from the well as much as Allah wished. Then Ibn Abi Quhafa (i.e. Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and brought out one or two buckets (of water) and there was weakness in his drawing the water. May Allah forgive his weakness for him. Then the bucket turned into a very big one and Ibn Al-Khattab took it over and I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work, till the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there."  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي عَلَى قَلِيبٍ عَلَيْهَا دَلْوٌ فَنَزَعْتُ مِنْهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ فَنَزَعَ بِهَا ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ضَعْفَهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَأَخَذَهَا ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَنْزِعُ نَزْعَ عُمَرَ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. "While (in a dream), I was standing by a well, drawing water from it. Abu Bakr and ʿUmar came to me. Abu Bakr took the bucket (from me) and drew one or two buckets of water, and there was some weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al-Khattab took the bucket from Abu Bakr, and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hands. I had never seen such a mighty person amongst the people as him in performing such hard work. He drew so much water that the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels." (Wahab, a sub-narrator said, "till their camels drank and knelt down.")  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عَلَى بِئْرٍ أَنْزِعُ مِنْهَا جَاءَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَأَخَذَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الدَّلْوَ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ فِي يَدِهِ غَرْبًا فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ فَنَزَعَ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ قَالَ وَهْبٌ الْعَطَنُ مَبْرَكُ الإِبِلِ يَقُولُ حَتَّى رَوِيَتِ الإِبِلُ فَأَنَاخَتْ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was sleeping, I saw myself (in a dream) standing by a well. I drew from it as much water as Allah wished me to draw, and then Ibn Quhafa (Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and drew one or two buckets, and there was weakness in his drawing----may Allah forgive him! Then ʿUmar took the bucket which turned into something like a big drum. I had never seen a powerful man among the people working as perfectly and vigorously as he did. (He drew so much water that) the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there. (See Hadith No. 16, Vol. 5)

Abu Bakr took the bucket and drew one or two buckets (full of water), but there was weakness in his pulling, but Allah forgave him. Then Ibn Al- Khattab took the bucket from Abu Bakr's hand and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hand. I have never seen any strong man among the people doing such a hard job as ʿUmar did, till (the people drank to their satisfaction) and water their camels to their fill and they sat near the water."

I pulled out from it as many buckets of water as Allah wished, and then Ibn Abi Quhafa (Abu Bakr) took the bucket from me and pulled out one or two full buckets, and there was weakness in his pull--may Allah forgive him. Then the bucket turned into a very large one and ʿUmar bin Al-Khattab took it. I have never seen any strong man among the people, drawing water with such strength as ʿUmar did, till the people (drank to their satisfaction and) watered their camels to their fill; whereupon the camels sat beside the water."  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي عَلَى قَلِيبٍ وَعَلَيْهَا دَلْوٌ فَنَزَعْتُ مِنْهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ فَنَزَعَ مِنْهَا ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَأَخَذَهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَنْزِعُ نَزْعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ  

While I was asleep I saw myself on a well with a leathern bucket on a pulley. I drew (water) out of that as Allah wished me (to draw). Then the son of Abu Quhafa (Abu Bakr) drew from it one bucketful or two and there was some weakness in drawing that (may Allah forgive him). Then that bucket (changed into a large bucket) and Ibn Khattab drew it. I did not see any strongest man drawing it like 'Umar b. Khattab. He brought out so much water that the camels of the people had enough to drink and then laid down (for rest).

I saw (in a dream) as if I was drawing water with a leathern bucket on a wooden pulley. There came Abu Bakr and he drew out a bucketful or two and as he drew out, some weakness (was perceived in it) (may Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, forgive him). Then Umar came in order to serve water -and the bucket was changed into a large leather bucket and I did not see such a wonderful man amongst persons (drawing water) and he went on serving water to the people until they were fully satisfied and then went to their resting places. "رأَيتُ في المنَام؛ أَنِّى أَنْزعُ بِدَلْو بَكَرَة على قَلِيبٍ، فَجاءَ أبو بكر فَنَزَع ذَنُوبًا أَو ذَنُوبيْنِ، وفى بعْض نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ، واللَّهُ يغْفِرُ لَهُ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَها عُمرُ فاسْتحالَت بِيَدِهِ غَرْبًا، فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَريّا في النَّاسِ يَفْرى فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضرب النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ".  

"بَينَا أنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيتُنى عَلَى قُلَيب فَنَزَعْتُ منْها مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ نَزع ابْنُ أبي قُحَافَةَ ذَنُوبًا، أَوْ ذَنُوبَينَ، وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ، فَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ استَحَالتْ غَرْبًا فَأَخَذَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الخَطَّاب فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَريًا يفْرِى فَريَّهُ".
