While Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on the pulpit, he said, "May Allah forgive the tribe of Ghifar! And may Allah save the tribe of Aslam! The tribe of ʿUsaiya have disobeyed Allah and His Apostle."

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَعُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah save the tribe of Aslam, and may Allah forgive the tribe of Ghifar!"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا

0 Allah I curse the tribes of Lihyan, Ri'l, Dhakwan, and 'Usayya for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Allah pardoned (the tribe of) Ghifar and Allah granted protection to (the tribe of) Aslam

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي صَلاَةٍ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لِحْيَانَ وَرِعْلاً وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ عَصَوُا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ

So far as the tribe of Ghifar is concerned, Allah had pardoned it, and Allah had granted protection to the tribe of Aslam, and as for the tribe of Usayya, It had disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, (and further said): O Allah! curse the tribe of Lihyan curse Ri'l, and Dhakwan, and then fell in prostration. It is after this that the cursing of the unbelievers got a sanction.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ خُفَافُ بْنُ إِيمَاءٍ رَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَعُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لِحْيَانَ وَالْعَنْ رِعْلاً وَذَكْوَانَ ثُمَّ وَقَعَ سَاجِدًا قَالَ خُفَافٌ فَجُعِلَتْ لَعْنَةُ الْكَفَرَةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ

Go to your people and say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says: Ghifar (is a tribe) to whom Allah granted pardon, and Aslam (is the tribe) to whom Allah granted safety.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon.

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ائْتِ قَوْمَكَ فَقُلْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon. Verily it is not I that say this, but (it is) Allah the Exalted and Glorious. (who) says this.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَقُلْهَا وَلَكِنْ قَالَهَا اللَّهُ ﷻ

O Allah, hurl curse upon the tribe of Lihyan and Ri'l aid Dhakwan and Usayya for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, (and for) Ghifar Allah has granted pardon and for the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety.

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the dawn prayer with us. When he raised his head from the last rakah, he said, "May Allah curse Liyan, Ri'l, and Dukhwān, and the disobedient one who disobeys Allah and His Messenger. May Allah keep her under His peace and forgiveness." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated. When he finished, he recited to the people and said, "O people, I did not say it, but Allah ﷻ said it."

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ الْآخِرَةِ قَالَ لَعَنَ اللهُ لِحْيَانًا وَرِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ عَصَتِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا ثُمَّ وَقَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَاجِدًا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَرَأَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي أَنَا لَسْتُ قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَالَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed a prostration in prayer, then he raised his head and said: "Ghifār is the one for whom Allah forgave, and Aslam is the one for whom Allah granted peace. And ʿUṣayyah is the one who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger. O Allah, curse the Banī Laḥyān. O Allah, curse Riʿlān and Dhakwān." Then he raised his voice and performed a bow and prostrated saying: "Khufāf." Thus, the curse of disbelief was established for that reason.

رَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ غِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَعُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ اللهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لَحْيَانَ اللهُمَّ الْعَنْ رِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَوَقَعَ سَاجِدًا قَالَخُفَافٌ فَجُعِلَتْ لَعْنَةُ الْكَفَرَةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ

[AI] And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There is no protection except for Allah and His Messenger."

وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا حِمَى إِلَّا لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon. Verily it is not I that say this, but (it is) Allah the Exalted and Glorious. (who) says this. (Using translation from Muslim 2516)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا مَا أَنَا قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ قَالَهُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Hasten towards Allah, and He will forgive you." Ibn Thawban said: This means submit (to Allah).

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَجِلُّوا اللهَ يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ قَالَ ابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ يَعْنِي أَسْلِمُوا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, forgive the pilgrim and those for whom the pilgrim seeks forgiveness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْحَاجِّ وَلِمَنِ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ الْحَاجُّ»

O Allah, hurl curse upon the tribe of Lihyan and Ri'l aid Dhakwan and Usayya for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, (and for) Ghifar Allah has granted pardon and for the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety. (Using translation from Muslim 2517)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ «اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لِحْيَانَ وَرِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ عَصَوُا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَغِفَارًا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمَ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ»

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon. Verily it is not I that say this, but (it is) Allah the Exalted and Glorious. (who) says this. (Using translation from Muslim 2516)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «غِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمَ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَقُلْهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ قَالَهُ»

[AI] "The Prophet ﷺ used to stand in prayer and supplicate against some tribes of the Arabs, saying, 'May Allah curse Ri'lān and Dhakwān and the 'Usayyah tribe who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, and Beni Lahyan.' And he would say, 'Ghifār was forgiven by Allah and He granted Sa'lamah safety. I did not say this, but rather Allah Almighty said it.' Then he would say the takbīr after supplicating against those whom he cursed." (Note: This translation might not be precise as the original text is not clear and there is a reference to a missing portion from Al-Dhahabi's work).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُومُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَيَدْعُو عَلَى قَبَائِلَ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ فَيَقُولُ «لَعَنَ اللَّهُ رِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ الَّتِي عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولُهُ وَبَنِي لَحْيَانَ» وَيَقُولُ «غِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمَ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ لَسْتُ أَنَا قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ قَالَهُ» ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرُ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ عَلَى مَنْ دَعَاسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ performed the prayer and then raised his head and said, "Ghifārun Ghafar Allāhu lahā wa aslamu sālamahā Allāhu wa 'uṣayyatuhu 'aṣat Allāha wa Rasūlahu, allāhumma l'an Banī Lihyān, allāhumma l'an Ri'alān wa Dhakwān." Then he Allāhu Akbar [said the takbir] and fell into prostration. He said, "He cursed the disbelievers because of that."

رَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ «غِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَعُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهِ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لِحْيَانَ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ رِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَوَقَعَ سَاجِدًا» قَالَ فَجَعَلَ لَعْنَةَ الْكَفَرَةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites Surah Yasin (Chapter 36 of the Quran) in a night, seeking the face of Allah, will be forgiven."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ قَرَأَ يس فِي لَيْلَةٍ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ غُفِرَ لَهُ»

Allah has granted pardon to the tribe of Ghifar and to the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and as for Usayya tribe, they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger. (Using translation from Muslim 2518a)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِغِفَارٍ «غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمَ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ وَعُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ»

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Allah does not forgive those who do not forgive, and Allah does not have mercy on those who do not have mercy."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لِمَنْ لَا يَغْفِرُ وَلَا يَرْحَمُ اللهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ»

Go to your people and say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says: Ghifar (is a tribe) to whom Allah granted pardon, and Aslam (is the tribe) to whom Allah granted safety. (Using translation from Muslim 2514a)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ»

O Allah, hurl curse upon the tribe of Lihyan and Ri'l aid Dhakwan and Usayya for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, (and for) Ghifar Allah has granted pardon and for the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety. (Using translation from Muslim 2517)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي صَلَاةٍ مِنَ الصَّلَوَاتِ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ الْعَنْ لِحْيَانًا وَرِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ عَصَتِ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ»

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي صَلَاةٍ «اللهُمَّ الْعَنْ بَنِي لِحْيَانَ وَرِعْلًا وَذَكْوَانَ وَعُصَيَّةَ عَصَوْا اللهَ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ»

To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon. Verily it is not I that say this, but (it is) Allah the Exalted and Glorious. (who) says this. (Using translation from Muslim 2516)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا مَا أَنَا قُلْتُهُ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ قَالَهُ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah save the tribe of Aslam, and may Allah forgive the tribe of Ghifar!" (Using translation from Bukhārī 3514)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللهُ وَغِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَهَا»
