It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed two shares from the spoils to the horseman and one share to the footman. (Using translation from Muslim 1762a)  

أحمد:٥٤١٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ أَخْضَرَ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَسَمَ فِي النَّفَلِ لِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ وَلِلرَّجُلِ سَهْمًا

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "To the horse there are two arrows, and to the man, one arrow."

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ الْفَرَسَ لَا يُسْهَمُ لَهُ إِلَّا كَمَا يُسْهَمُ لِصَاحِبِهِ

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said to the horseman, "Three arrows for you, and one arrow for the man."  

البيهقي:١٢٨٨٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ قَالَا ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ قَالَ لَا يُخْتَلَفُ فِيهِ
