"Indeed you shall be aided, capturing, and victorious; so whoever among you sees that, then let him have Taqwa of Allah, and let him command the good and forbid the evil, and whoever lies about me on purpose, then let him take his seat in the Fire." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2257)

Abu Qatadah said “We went out with the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ in the year of Hunain. And when the armies met, the Muslims suffered a reverse. I saw one of the polytheists prevailing over a Muslim, so I went round him till I came to him from behind and struck him with my sword at the vein between his neck and shoulder. He came towards me and closed with me, so that I felt death was near, but he was overtaken by death and let me go. I then caught upon on “Umar bin Al Khattab and said to him “What is the matter with the people?” He said “It is what Allaah has commanded. Then the people returned and the Apostle of Allaah ﷺsat down and said “If anyone kills a man and can prove it, he will get his spoil. I stood up and said “Who will testify for me? I then sat down.” He said again “If anyone kills a man and can prove it, he will get his spoil. I stood up and said “Who will testify for me? I then sat down.” He then said the same for the third time. I then stood up. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “What is the matter with you, Abu Qatadah? I told him the story. A man from the people said “He has spoken the truth, and I have this spoil with me, so make him agreeable (to take something in exchange). Abu Bakr said “In that case I swear by Allaah that he must not do so. One of the Allaah’s heroes does not fight for Allaah and his Apostle and then give you his spoil. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “He has spoken the truth, hand it over to him. Abu Qatadah said “he handed it over to me, I sold the coat of mail and brought a garden among Banu Salamh. This was the first property I acquired in the Islamic period. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2717)

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "None of the black heads (meaning the Children of Adam since (most of) their heads are black) before you partook of spoils of war, but fire from the heavens would be sent down upon them, consuming them." Sulaiman (one of the narrators) said "No one says this except for Abu Hurairah now. "So on the day of Badr when they had the spoils of war before it was made lawful for them, Allah [Most High] revealed: Were it not a previous ordainment from Allah, a severe torment would have touched you for what you took." ذِكْرُ تَحْلِيلِ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلَا الْغَنَائِمَ لِأُمَّةِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , a prophet from among the prophets went on a military expedition with his companions. He said, "No man should build a house without settling in it, or marry a woman without entering upon her, or have any need to return." He encountered the enemy when the sun was about to set. He prayed, "O Allah, it is a command, and I am under command. Stop it from setting until I take revenge between me and them." Allah caused the sun to stop setting, and they fought against the enemy. They gathered spoils of war, but the fire did not consume it, for whenever they would gather war booty, Allah would send fire on it and consume it. Their prophet said to them, "Among you, there are traitors. Let a man from every tribe come and pledge allegiance to me." They went to him and pledged allegiance. The hands of two men stuck to his hand, and they said, "You are accusing us of treachery." He said, "Indeed, there is a golden statue of a cow in the likeness of its head." So they brought it and threw it into the spoils of war. Allah sent fire, and it consumed it. At that moment, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah provided us with spoils of war as a mercy. He showed mercy to us and stayed the hand of the enemy because of our weakness."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A prophet among the prophets waged war and said to his people, 'No man should follow me if he has married a woman and wishes to build a house with her, but has not built its roof. And no man should follow me if he has bought sheep and is waiting for their offspring.' So, he waged war and when he approached a monastery, it was either Asr prayer time or near that. He said to the sun, 'You are ordered (by Allah) and I am ordered (by Allah). O Allah, keep it stationary on me as long as You wish.' So, it was detained until Allah opened up the way for him. They collected what they had gained from the war and the fire started eating from it. It did not cease until they had taken out what looked like the hump of a cow made of gold. They put it in the loot and that was with the troops in the battlefield. The fire suddenly started burning and was consuming all that was being sold. So, they stopped it. It was then said, 'Imam has collected the zakat from enemies in Allah's cause.' The booty was not lawfully valid for any man before us. Allah made it lawful for His Messenger and the Muslims."

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gained booty he ordered Bilal to make a public announcement. He made a public announcement, and when the people brought their booty, he would take a fifth and divide it. Thereafter a man brought a halter of hair and said: Messenger of Allah, this is a part of the booty we got. He asked: Have you heard Bilal making announcement three times? He replied: Yes. He asked: What did prevent you from bringing it? He made some excuse, to which he said: Be (as you are), you may bring it on the Day of Judgment, for I shall not accept it from you. And Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, at that time sought the charity of the Messenger of Allah, which was in Medina and the remaining Khaybar. Aisha said: Abu Bakr said, 'Verily, the Messenger of Allah said, "We do not leave inheritance. What we leave behind is charity, for the family of Muhammad eats from this wealth. They do not have the right to increase their share of what is eaten." And by Allah, I will not change anything about the charity left by the Messenger of Allah.' Fatimah was displeased with Abu Bakr's decision and boycotted him. She did not speak to him until she passed away. She lived for six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah. When she died, Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, buried her at night without Abu Bakr's permission. Ali then performed the funeral prayer for her. Ali was the closest person to Fatimah's life. When Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, passed away, people turned away from Ali until he rejected them. Ali then sought reconciliation with Abu Bakr and pledged allegiance to him. Abu Bakr was not present during those months, so he sent a message to Abu Bakr asking him to come alone, but Ali did not want Umar to witness their reconciliation due to Umar's severity towards them. Umar said to Abu Bakr, 'By Allah, they should not enter upon you alone.' Abu Bakr replied, 'What harm can they do to me? By Allah, I will go to them.' Abu Bakr entered and Ali said, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, the kinship of the Messenger of Allah is more beloved to me than my own kinship. But what has come between me and you from these charitable funds, I have not turned away from goodness, nor have I neglected any matter regarding the manner in which the Messenger of Allah dealt with them. I saw the Messenger of Allah do nothing in regards to them except what I have done.' Ali said to Abu Bakr, 'Your appointment is tonight for the allegiance.' After Abu Bakr performed the Dhuhr prayer, he ascended the pulpit, made the supplication, and mentioned Ali's situation and his absence from the allegiance, and his excuse. Then he sought forgiveness and mentioned Ali, showing respect for Abu Bakr. He mentioned that he did not have any influence over Abu Bakr's actions nor did he deny his virtue granted by Allah. But they saw a share for themselves in the matter, and Abu Bakr acted unilaterally. Muslims were pleased with that and said to Ali, 'You have done the right thing.' The Muslims were close to Ali when he reconsidered the matter with good intentions."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Rather, we will carry it for you." He then said, "It is for you in the charity's camels when they come." Then he said, "O Qabeesah ibn Mukhareq, asking for help is only permissible for one of three: a man who has taken a responsibility upon himself for his people seeking reform and he asks until he achieves his goal, a man who is struck by poverty and three of his people testify for him, and he asks until he becomes self-sufficient, or a man who is struck by calamity and he asks until he becomes self-sufficient. Other than these cases, O Qabeesah, asking for help is forbidden." He repeated this statement three times.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said on the day of Hunayn, "Whoever claims a share [of the spoils] individually, it will be taken away from him." Abu Talhah then came with twenty-one spoils.

[Machine] Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ give all the spoils of war to the killer? He said, "Yes, but I have given him more than his share. By the oath of Allah, I will inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it." When we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , I told him the news and he called him and commanded him to give the rest of his share to the Muddadi (assisting soldier). So Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) complied. I said to him, "How did you see it, O Khalid? Did I not fulfill my promise to you?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry and said, "O Khalid, do not give it to him and come to me." He said, "Are you abandoning me to my commanders? You have the best among them for their work and upon them are its consequences." His saying ﷺ , "O Khalid, do not give it to him," was intended for that specific time, then he commanded him again and he gave it to him.

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Hawazin, and we were sitting and preparing to offer the afternoon prayer. Suddenly, a man on a red camel appeared and took away a camel belonging to one of our companions. He tied it to his own camel and then came and sat with us to eat. He looked at the faces of the people and noticed their softness, and most of them were on foot. When he looked at the faces of the people, he got up and walked away until he reached his camel. He sat on it and began to ride. He was at the forefront of the disbelievers. One of our companions who had embraced Islam followed him on a camel that belonged to him and was white. His name was Iyas, and he said, "I followed him." My father also followed him, and I unsheathed my sword and struck him on the head. Then I brought his camel and rode on it, taking his belongings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the people approached and asked, "Who killed the man?" I said, "I did." He replied, "You have taken all his belongings."

A horse of Ibn 'Umar fled and the enemy took it. Then the Muslims conquered the enemy and the horse was returned to him during the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ. And also, once a slave of Ibn 'Umar (ra) fled and joined the Byzantines, and when the Muslims conquered them, Khalid bin Al-Walid returned the slave to him after the death of the Prophet ﷺ.
