[Machine] While I was standing between the rows on the day of Badr, I looked to my right and left and saw two boys from the Ansar. They both winked at me and one of them asked, "Do you know Abu Jahl ibn Hisham, O cousin?" I replied, "Yes, I do. What do you need from him, O son of my brother?" He said, "I have been informed that he insults the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and by the One in whose hand is my soul, if I see him, he will not leave the battlefield until one of us dies." I was impressed by what he said. The other boy then winked at me and said the same thing. I did not think much of it until I saw Abu Jahl walking among the people. I told them, "This is your companion who you asked me about." They immediately went towards him and struck him with their swords, killing him. They then went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of what they had done. He asked them, "Which one of you killed him?" They both claimed responsibility, and he asked, "Did you wipe your swords?" They replied, "No." The Prophet ﷺ looked at their swords and said, "Both of you have killed him." He then gave the spoils of war to Mu'adh ibn 'Amr ibn al-Jamuh. The two men were Mu'adh ibn 'Amr ibn al-Jamuh and Mu'adh ibn 'Afra.
