[Machine] He (referring to the Prophet ﷺ ) was riding a she-camel and he was accompanied by an Arab man who had a beautiful daughter with him. I started to sneak a look at her, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned his face away from her. He continued to turn away until he threw the pebble at Al-Aqaba (one of the pillars symbolizing Satan during Hajj).  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَفَاضَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ فَسَايَرَهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مَعَهُ ابْنَةٌ لَهُ حَسْنَاءُ فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهِي عَنْهَا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ  

[Machine] Al-Fadl ibn al-Abbas, the cousin of the Prophet ﷺ , was standing beside him and kept staring at the women. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face away from him with his hand from behind. The young man continued to look at the women, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "O son of my brother, surely this day is a day when whoever restrains his hearing, sight, and tongue will be forgiven."  

كَانَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ الْفَتَى يُلَاحِظُ النِّسَاءَ وَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَيَجْعَلُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَهُ بِيَدِهِ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ وَجَعَلَ الْفَتَى يُلَاحِظُ النِّسَاءَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيِ ابْنَ أَخٍ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ مَنْ مَلَكَ فِيهِ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ وَلِسَانَهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ»  

[Machine] "He (referring to someone) entered the Kaaba with the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , and Bilal was at the door. He (the person) said, 'He did not pray.' And Bilal said, 'He prayed.'"  

«أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْكَعْبَةَ وَبِلَالٌ عَلَى الْبَابِ» فَقَالَ «لَمْ يُصَلِّ» وَقَالَ بِلَالٌ «صَلَّى»  

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: "Whoever wakes up in a state of janabah should not fast that day." My father sent me to Aisha to ask her about this, so I went to her and asked her. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would wake up in a state of janabah without having a wet dream, and then he would fast." I returned to Marwan and informed him, and he said: "Go and inform Abu Hurayrah." So I went to Abu Hurayrah and said to him, "I dislike approaching you with something you dislike." He said, "I have made a decision for you to come to me, so come." I went to him and he said, "O Abu Hurayrah, if I disliked approaching you with something you disliked, but the Amir has made a decision." Abu Hurayrah then narrated to him through al-Fadl ibn Abbas.  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا فَلَا يَصُومَنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ» فَأَرْسَلَ أَبِي إِلَى عَائِشَةَ لِيَسْأَلَهَا فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَسَأَلَهَا فَقَالَتْ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ثُمَّ يُصْبِحُ صَائِمًا» فَرَجَعَ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ فَحَدَّثَهُ فَقَالَ الْقَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَحَدِّثْهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ لَجَارِي وَإِنِّي لَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَسْتَقْبِلَهُ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ فَقَالَ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ لَتَأْتِيَنَّهُ فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَسْتَقْبِلَكَ بِمَا تَكْرَهُ وَلَكِنَّ الْأَمِيرَ عَزَمَ عَلِيَّ فَحَدَّثَهُ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِيهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ  

[Machine] Fadhl ibn Abbas was asked, "Did the Prophet ﷺ pray in the house?" He said, "No."  

سُئِلَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الْبَيْتِ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us in a desert and he performed the Asr prayer, and in front of him was a dog or a donkey belonging to us, and he did not forbid it or make us delay it."  

«أَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَبَّاسًا فِي بَادِيَةٍ لَنَا فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَلْبَةٌ لَنَا أَوْ حِمَارَةٌ لَنَا فَلَمْ يَنْهَهَا وَلَا نُؤَخِّرُهَا»  

"O Messenger of Allah, my fater is an old man and he cannot perform Hajj or 'Umrah, nor can he travel." He said: "Perform Hajj and 'Umrah on behalf of your father."(sahih) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2621)  

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ وَلَا الظَّعْنَ قَالَ «حِجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ وَاعْتَمِرْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to only wake up for the night prayer.  

«لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُومُ إِلَى صَلَاةٍ بِاللَّيْلِ إِلَّا اسْتَنَّ»  

[Machine] "He (referring to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ) used to be in the same row with the group until he threw the pebbles at Al-Aqaba, and no animal prepared for a journey would raise its foot until he threw the pebbles at Al-Aqaba."  

«أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ جَمْعٍ حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَلَمْ تَرْفَعْ رَاحِلَةٌ رِجْلَهَا غَادِيَةً حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ»  

[Machine] The translation of the passage is: "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to arrive at a place during a journey or enter his house, he would not sit until he had performed two Rak'ahs of prayer."  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فِي سَفَرٍ أَوْ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ لَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى يَرْكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ participated in the Battle of Tabuk and exerted great effort during the day. They complained to him about this, and he saw some men who did not give their backs rest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then saw a narrow passage through which people were passing and stood there. He blew air into it and said, "O Allah, cause this passage to become difficult for them in Your path, for indeed, You make it difficult for the strong and the weak, the wet and the dry, both in the sea and on land." So, it remained difficult for them, and we did not enter the city except that it argued with us because of its narrowness.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ غَزَا غَزْوَةَ تَبُوكٍ فَجَهَدَ الظَّهْرُ جَهْدًا شَدِيدًا فَشَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ ذَلِكَ وَرَآهُمْ رِجَالًا لَا يُرِيحُونَ ظَهْرَهَمْ فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ مَضِيقٍ يَمُرُّ النَّاسُ فِيهِ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ وَالنَّاسُ يَمُرُّونُ فَنَفَخَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ احْمِلْ عَلَيْهَا فِي سَبِيلِكَ فَإِنَّكَ تَحْمِلُ عَلَى الْقَوِيِّ وَالضَّعِيفِ وَالرَّطْبِ وَالْيَابِسِ فِي الْبَحْرِ وَالْبَرِ» فَاسْتَمَرَّتْ فَمَا دَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ إِلَّا وَهِيَ تُنَازِعُنَا أَزِمَّتَهَا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah has a more attentive ear towards a person with a beautiful voice reciting the Quran than a person with a lute towards his lute."  

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَلَّهُ أَشَدُّ أُذُنًا إِلَى الرَّجُلِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّوْتِ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ صَاحِبِ الْقَيْنَةِ إِلَى قَيْنَتِهِ»  

‘Abd Allah bin Abbas said Al Fadl bin Abbas was riding the Camel behind the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. A woman of the tribe of Khath’am came seeking his (the Prophet’s) decision (about a problem relating to Hajj). Al Fadl began to look at her and she too began to look at him. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ would turn the face of Fadl to the other side. She said Apostle of Allaah ﷺ Allaah’s commandment that His servants should perform Hajj has come when my father is an old man and is unable to sit firmly on a Camel. May I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said yes, That was at the Farewell Pilgrimage. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1809)  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِيهِ فَجَعَلَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُثْبُتَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ  

Al-Fadl bin ʿAbbas rode behind the Prophet ﷺ as his companion rider on the back portion of his she camel on the Day of Nahr (slaughtering of sacrifice, 10th Dhul-Hijja) and Al-Fadl was a handsome man. The Prophet ﷺ stopped to give the people verdicts. In the meantime, a beautiful woman From the tribe of Khath'am came, asking the verdict of Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Al-Fadl started looking at her as her beauty attracted him. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind while Al-Fadl was looking at her; so the Prophet ﷺ held out his hand backwards and caught the chin of Al-Fadl and turned his face (to the owner sides in order that he should not gaze at her. She said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! The obligation of Performing Hajj enjoined by Allah on His worshipers, has become due (compulsory) on my father who is an old man and who cannot sit firmly on the riding animal. Will it be sufficient that I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6228)  

أَرْدَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ خَلْفَهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَكَانَ الْفَضْلُ رَجُلًا وَضِيئًا فَوَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلنَّاسِ يُفْتِيهِمْ فَأَقْبَلْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ وَضِيئَةٌ تَسْتَفْتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَفِقَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَأَعْجَبَهُ حُسْنُهَا فَالْتَفَتْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا فَأَخْلَفَ يَدَهُ فَأَخَذَ بِذَقَنِ الْفَضْلِ يَعْدِلُ وَجْهَهُ عَنِ النَّظَرِ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ تِلْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِي عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ فَحُجِّي عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who is unable to hold onto the saddle and perform Hajj. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."  

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَيَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»  

a woman from Khath'am asked the Messenger of Allah a question during the Farewell Pilgrimage, when Al-Fadl bin 'Abbas was riding behing the Messenger of Allah She said: "O Messenger of Allah! The command of Allah has come for His slaves to perform Hajj, but my father is an old man and cannot sit upright in the saddle. Will it be paid off on his behalf if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah said to her: "Yes." And Al-Fadl started to turn toward her, as she was a beautiful woman, but the Messenger of Allah took hold of Al-Fadl's face and turned it to the other side. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2642)  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ» فَأَخَذَ الْفَضْلُ يَلْتَفِتْ إِلَيْهَا وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةً حَسْنَاءَ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْفَضْلَ يُحَوِّلُ وَجْهَهُ مِنَ الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ  

[Machine] A woman from Khath'am came to the Prophet ﷺ during his farewell pilgrimage and asked, "O Prophet of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon his servants during Hajj has overtaken my elderly father who is not able to ride a camel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes."  

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] A woman asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about her father who had passed away without performing the Hajj. He said, "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father."  

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَبِيهَا مَاتَ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ قَالَ «حُجِّي عَنْ أَبِيكِ»  

[Machine] A woman from the Khath'am tribe consulted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the obligation of Allah in Hajj upon His servants. She mentioned that her elderly father was unable to travel on a riding animal. She asked if she could perform Hajj on his behalf. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes."  

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet that a woman from Khath'am asked him a question regarding the Farewell Pilgrimage. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon His servants in Hajj has reached my elderly father. He is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْهُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] A woman from Khath'am consulted the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah in Hajj has become difficult for His servants, as my old father is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform the Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."  

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah in regards to Hajj has reached my elderly father who is unable to travel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Yes."  

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ هَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah in performing Hajj has caught up with my elderly father who is unable to hold onto the mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes, perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

أَرْدَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ خَلْفَهُ عَلَى عَجُزِ رَاحِلَتِهِ وَكَانَ الْفَضْلُ رَجُلًا وَضِيئًا فَوَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلنَّاسِ يُفْتِيهِمْ فَأَقْبَلْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ وَضِيئَةٌ تَسْتَفْتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَفِقَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَأَعْجَبَهُ حُسْنُهَا فَالْتَفَتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا فَأَخْلَفَ بِيَدِهِ بِذَقَنِ الْفَضْلِ فَعَدَلَ وَجْهَهُ عَنِ النَّظَرِ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ تِلْكَ الْخَثْعَمِيَّةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] "I was in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he continued to respond to greetings until he threw the pebble at Jamrat al-Aqaba."  

«كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ»  

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever intends to perform Hajj, let him hasten to do so, for he may fall sick, lose his mount, or be faced with some need.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2883)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ فَلْيَتَعَجَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ يَمْرَضُ الْمَرِيضُ وَتَغِيلُ الضَّالَّةُ وَتَعْرِضُ الْحَاجَةُ»  

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever intends to perform Hajj, let him hasten to do so, for he may fall sick, lose his mount, or be faced with some need.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2883)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَتَعَجَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ يَمْرَضُ الْمَرِيضُ وَتَضِلُّ الضَّالَّةُ وَتَعْرِضُ الْحَاجَةُ»  

[Machine] "On the morning of the Battle of al-'Aqaba, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to me, 'Give me some pebbles.' So, I picked up seven stones that were the size of dates. When he held them in his hand, he said, 'Beware of extremism, beware of extremism. The previous nations were destroyed because of their extremism in religious matters.' This hadith has been narrated by a group of people from 'Awf, including Sufyan al-Thawri. No one narrated it from Ibn 'Abbas except for his brother Ja'far ibn Sulayman, and no one narrated it from Ja'far except for 'Abdul-Razzaq."  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ الْعَقَبَةِ «هَاتَ الْتَقِطْ لِي» فَالْتَقَطْتُ لَهُ سَبْعَ حَصَيَاتٍ حَصَى الْحَذْفِ فَلَمَّا وَضَعَهُنَّ فِي كَفَّهِ قَالَ «بِأَمْثَالِ هَؤُلَاءِ بِأَمْثَالِ هَؤُلَاءِ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُلُوَّ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُلُوَّ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِالْغُلُوِّ فِي الدِّينِ» وَرَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ عَوْفٍ مِنْهُمْ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ «فَلَمْ يَقُلْ أَحَدٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ إِلَّا جَعْفَرَ بْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ وَلَا رَوَاهُ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ إِلَّا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ»  

[Machine] He informed him that he entered the house with the Prophet ﷺ and that the Prophet ﷺ did not pray in the house when he entered it. But when he left, he performed two units of prayer at the door of the house.  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْبَيْتَ وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِي الْبَيْتِ حِينَ دَخَلَهُ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمَّا خَرَجَ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْبَيْتِ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood inside the Kaaba, glorifying Allah, magnifying Him, supplicating to Him, seeking His forgiveness, without bowing or prostrating."  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ يُسَبِّحُ وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيَدْعُو وَيَسْتَغْفِرُ وَلَمْ يَرْكَعْ وَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ»  

[Machine] "I was with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of sacrifice, and he continued performing the ritual of stoning the Aqaba stone."  

«كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ»  

[Machine] I became ritually impure, so I went to Abu Hurairah and asked him. He said to me, "Break your fast." So I said, "Shouldn't I complete my fast instead?" He said, "No, break your fast." So I went to Marwan ibn al-Hakam and asked him, informing him of Abu Hurairah's statement. He sent Abdur Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham to Aisha and asked her. She said, "The Prophet ﷺ used to go out for the Fajr prayer with his head dripping (from sexual intercourse) and then he would fast that day." So he returned to Marwan and informed him of that. Marwan said, "Go to Abu Hurairah and inform him." Abu Hurairah said, "I never heard it from the Prophet ﷺ , but Fadl ibn Abbas informed me about it from the Prophet ﷺ ."  

أَصْبَحْتُ جُنُبًا فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي «أَفْطِرْ» فَقُلْتُ أَلَا أَصُومُهُ وَأَقْضِي؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ أَفْطِرْ» فَأَتَيْتُ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ وَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَبَعَثَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَسَأَلَهَا فَقَالَتْ «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْرُجُ لِصَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ مِنْ جِمَاعٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ» فَرَجَعَ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ائْتِ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبِرْهُ فَقَالَ أَمَا أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا حَدَّثَنِيهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ  

[Machine] I was in a state of janabah in the city during the month of Ramadan, so I woke up in a state of junub. I went to Abu Hurairah and mentioned it to him, and he said, "Break your fast." I said, "Should I fast my day and make it up later?" He said, "No, break your fast." So I went to Marwan ibn Al-Hakam, who was the governor of the city, and mentioned it to him. He sent Abu Bakr ibn Abdur Rahman ibn Al-Hakam to Aisha and asked her about it. Aisha replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of janabah during the month of Ramadan without having had a wet dream, and would continue his fast." Abu Bakr then went to Marwan and informed him of what Aisha had said. Marwan said to him, "I had intended to meet you and tell you to go to Abu Hurairah and inform him of what Aisha said." So I went and informed Abu Hurairah of Aisha's statement, and he said, "I did not hear this directly from the Prophet ﷺ , but it was informed to me by Al-Fadl ibn Abbas." Ibn Awn said, "So I asked Raja' ibn Haywah, 'Who informed you of this hadith?'" He replied, 'Ya'la narrated it to me."  

أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَأَصْبَحَتُ جُنُبًا فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «أَفْطِرْ» قُلْتُ أَصُومُ يَوْمِي وَأَقْضِي يَوْمًا مَكَانَهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا أَفْطِرْ» فَأَتَيْتُ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ وَهُوَ أَمِيرٌ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ فَبَعَثَ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَسَأَلَهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصْبِحُ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ فَيَمْضِي عَلَى صِيَامِهِ» فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَلَى مَرْوَانَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِقَوْلِ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَرْوَانُ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ أَلَا لَقِيتَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتَهُ بِقَوْلِ عَائِشَةَ فَلَقِيتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ فَقُلْتُ لرجاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ؟ قَالَ إِيَّايَ حَدَّثَ يَعْلَى بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever reaches morning without fasting, he is not to fast." So I and my father went to Aisha and Umm Salamah and asked them about that. They told us, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of impurity without having had a wet dream, and then he would fast." I then went to Marwan and informed him of what they said, as well as what my father Abu Hurayrah said. Marwan said, "I request both of you to go to Abu Hurayrah and inform him." My father then met Abu Hurayrah at the gate of the mosque and told him, "The Ameer has requested a matter for us to mention to you." Abu Hurayrah asked, "What is it?" So my father informed him, and Abu Hurayrah became red in the face and said, "This is what Fadl ibn Abbas said, and he is more knowledgeable." Then Al-Zuhri said, "So he changed the narration to something else."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ الصُّبْحُ فَلَا صَوْمَ لَهُ» فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَسَأَلْنَاهُمَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَخْبَرَتَانَا «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ حُلُمٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ» قَالَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى مَرْوَانَ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِقَوْلِهِمَا وَقَوْلِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمَا أَلَا ذَهَبْتُمَا إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُمَاهُ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي إِنَّ الْأَمِيرَ عَزَمَ عَلَيْنَا فِي أَمَرٍ لِنَذْكُرَهُ لَكَ قَالَ وَمَا هُوَ فَحَدَّثَهُ أَبِي فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا قَالَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ «فَحَوَّلَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ»  

[Machine] He heard Abu Hurairah saying, "Whoever wakes up in a state of sexual impurity, fasting is not valid for him." So Abu Bakr and his father, Abdur Rahman, went until they reached Umm Salamah and Aisha, and both of them said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of sexual impurity without having a wet dream, and then he would fast." So Abu Bakr and Abdur Rahman went to Marwan and informed him. He said, "I intended to confront both of you when you went to Abu Hurairah and informed him." So Abu Bakr and Abdur Rahman went until they reached Abu Hurairah and informed him. He asked, "Did they both say that to you?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "They are more knowledgeable, for it was only Fadl ibn Abbas who informed me of that."  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا فَلَا صَوْمَ لَهُ» فَأَنْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَبُوهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَتَّى دَخَلَا عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَعَائِشَةَ وَكِلْتَاهُمَا قَالَتْ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ حُلُمٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ» فَأَنْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَبُوهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ فَحَدَّثَاهُ فَقَالَ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمَا لَمَّا انْطَلَقْتُمَا إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَحَدَّثْتُمَاهُ فَأَنْطَلَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَتَّى أَتَيَاهُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرَاهُ فَقَالَ هُمَا قَالَتَا لَكُمَا؟ قَالَا نَعَمْ قَالَ هُمَا أَعْلَمُ إِنَّمَا حَدَّثَنِيهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ  

[Machine] He informed him that he was in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he continued to follow him until he stoned the Jamrat al-Aqaba.  

أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ «أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited Al-Abbas in our desert, and we had a gazelle and a female donkey grazing. The Prophet ﷺ prayed while they were in front of him, and they were neither delayed nor reprimanded."  

«زَارَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَبَّاسَ فِي بَادِيَةٍ لَنَا وَلَنَا ظَبْيَةٌ وَحِمَارَةٌ تَرْعَى فَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَلَمْ تُؤَخَّرَا وَلَمْ تُزْجَرَا»  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: "The prayer is performed in pairs, with a testimony in each two units of prayer, and with supplication, humility, and devotion. You should hold firmly and submit with your hands, raising them towards your Lord, facing Him. You should say, 'O Lord, O Lord.' Whoever does not do that, he is deceiving."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تَشَهَّدُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَتَضَرَّعُ وَتَخَشَّعُ وَتَمَسْكَنُ وَتُقْنِعُ بِيَدَيْكَ يَقُولُ تَرْفَعُهَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ تُسْتَقْبَلُ بِوَجْهِكَ وَتَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ خِدَاعٌ  

[Machine] He was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ , and a man came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother is elderly and she cannot hold on to me, and if I tie her up, I fear that I will kill her. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf?" He (the companion) said, "Have you considered that if your mother was in debt, would you pay it off on her behalf?" The man said, "Yes." He said, "Then perform Hajj on behalf of your mother."  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي عَجُوزَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ وَإِنْ حَمَلْتُهَا لَمْ تَسْتَمْسِكْ وَإِنْ رَبَطْتُهَا خَشِيتُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهَا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكَ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ عَنْهَا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْجُجْ عَنْ أُمِّكَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wishes to perform Hajj should hasten to do so, as there might be obstacles and difficulties."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ فَلْيَتَعَجَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ تَكُونُ فِيهِ الضَّالَّةُ وَالشَّيْءُ»  

[Machine] One night, I stayed with the Prophet ﷺ to observe how he prays. He approached a carved log that was hanging on the wall, performed ablution, and then prayed two units of prayer. His standing posture was similar to his bowing posture, and his bowing posture was similar to his prostration. He then slept and woke up, performed ablution, sprinkled water on himself, and recited fifty verses from Surah Al-Imran: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day..." He continued to do this until he prayed ten units of prayer. After that, he stood up and performed one prostration and performed the Witr prayer with it. At that moment, the caller to prayer made the call, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up after the caller was silent and prayed two light prostrations. Then he sat until he prayed the Fajr prayer.  

بِتُّ لَيْلَةً عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لِأَنْظُرَ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَقَامَ إِلَى قِرْبَةٍ مُعَلَّقَةٍ بِوَتَدٍ فِي الْجِدَارِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ قِيَامُهُ مِثْلُ رُكُوعِهِ وَرُكُوعُهُ مِثْلُ سُجُودِهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَاسْتَنْثَرَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الْخَمْسِينَ آيَةً مِنْ آلِ عِمْرَانَ {إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّماوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ} فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَفْعَلْ هَذَا حَتَّى صَلَّى عَشْرَ رَكَعَاتٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي سَجْدَةً وَاحِدَةً فَأَوْتَرَ بِهَا وَنَادَى الْمُنَادِي عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَمَا سَكَتَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَصَلَّى سَجْدَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ حَتَّى صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ  

[Machine] He would be brought (or thrown) to the Prophet ﷺ during the night, and he would drink from it (the container) during the following morning, and the night after that until the third day, and then he would keep it.  

«كَانَ يُنْبَذُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيَشْرَبُهُ الْغَدُ وَلَيْلَةُ الْغَدِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ ثُمَّ يُمْسِكُ»  

[Machine] "Regarding my religion, this will not be until I meet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions: 'Whoever sells food or fodder acquired from the land of the Romans with gold or silver, then a fifth of it is due to Allah and the arrows of the Muslims.'"  

عَنْ دِينِي وَلَا يَكُنْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى أَلْقَى مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ وَأَصْحَابَهُ «مَنْ بَاعَ طَعَامًا أَوْ عَلَفًا مِمَّا أُصِيبَ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ بِذَهَبٍ أَوْ فِضَّةٍ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ فِيهِ خُمْسُ اللهِ وَسِهَامُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ»  

[Machine] "They studied and received good news, and may Allah increase you in goodness and love you and love those who love you. Answer our questions, as the reward of the last is like the reward of the first, and mix your speech with seeking forgiveness."  

«تَدَارَسُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا وَزِيدُوا زَادَكُمُ اللهُ خَيْرًا وَأَحَبَّكُمْ وَأَحَبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكُمْ رُدُّوا عَلَيْنَا الْمَسَائِلَ فَإِنَّ أَجْرَ آخِرِهَا كَأَجْرِ أَوَّلِهَا وَاخْلِطُوا حَدِيثَكُمْ بِالِاسْتِغْفَارِ»  

[Machine] I sat with Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and I said, "Advise me, may Allah have mercy on you." He said, "Remember three guidelines that Allah will benefit you with them, if you can. If you can be knowledgeable without being known, then do so. If you can listen without speaking, then do so. And if you can sit without being approached, then do so."  

صَحِبْتُ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَوْصِنِي رَحِمَكَ اللهُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَنِّي ثَلَاثَ خِلَالٍ يَنْفَعُكَ اللهُ بِهِنَّ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَعْرِفَ وَلَا تُعْرَفَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْمَعَ وَلَا تَكَلَّمَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ وَلَا يُجْلَسَ إِلَيْكَ فَافْعَلْ  

[Machine] I accompanied Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and said to him, "Advise me, may Allah have mercy on you." He said, "Guard against three things that Allah will benefit you with. If you can avoid being known and not knowing others, then do so. And if you can listen without speaking, then do so. And if you can sit without being approached, then do so."  

صَحِبْتُ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَوْصِنِي رَحِمَكَ اللهُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَنِّي ثَلَاثَ خِلَالٍ يَنْفَعُكَ اللهُ بِهِنَّ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَعْرِفَ وَلَا تُعْرَفَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْمَعَ وَلَا تَكَلَّمَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ وَلَا يُجْلَسَ إِلَيْكَ فَافْعَلْ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever desires the treasure of knowledge, let him rely on Allah alone for strength and power."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَرَادَ كَنْزَ الْحَدِيثِ فَعَلَيْهِ بِلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ»  

[Machine] I bought a necklace of gold and beads for twelve dinars on the day of Khaybar. Then I examined it and found that the gold in it was worth more than twelve dinars. So I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, "Gold should not be sold for gold until it is examined."  

اشْتَرَيْتُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرٍ قِلَادَةَ ذَهَبٍ وَخَرَزٍ بِاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ دِينَارًا فَفَصَّلْتُهَا فَإِذَا فِي ذَهَبِهَا أَكْثَرُ مِنِ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ دِينَارًا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَا يُبَاعُ ذَهَبٌ بِذَهَبٍ حَتَّى تُفَصَّلَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ came on the day of Khaybar with a necklace that had a bead made of gold hanging from it. A man had bought it for seven or nine (dirhams). So, he came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, until the difference between them is distinguished." He said, "I only wanted the stone." He said, "No, until the difference between them is distinguished." He said, "Give it back until it is distinguished."  

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرٍ بِقِلَادَةٍ فِيهَا خَرَزٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ بِذَهَبٍ ابْتَاعَهَا رَجُلٌ بِسَبْعَةٍ أَوْ تِسْعَةٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «لَا حَتَّى يُمَيَّزَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا» فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ الْحِجَارَةَ فَقَالَ «لَا حَتَّى يُمَيَّزَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا» قَالَ فَرَدَّ حَتَّى مُيِّزَ  

[Machine] Take the gold and place it in one scale and place the gold in the other scale and do not take except in equal measure. How could I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should only take in equal measure"?  

انْزِعِ الذَّهَبَ اجْعَلْهُ فِي كِفَّةٍ وَاجْعَلِ الذَّهَبَ فِي كِفَّةٍ أُخْرَى وَلَا تَأْخُذْ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ فَأَنَّى سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَأْخُذُ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ»
