[Machine] He was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ , and a man came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother is elderly and she cannot hold on to me, and if I tie her up, I fear that I will kill her. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf?" He (the companion) said, "Have you considered that if your mother was in debt, would you pay it off on her behalf?" The man said, "Yes." He said, "Then perform Hajj on behalf of your mother."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي عَجُوزَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ وَإِنْ حَمَلْتُهَا لَمْ تَسْتَمْسِكْ وَإِنْ رَبَطْتُهَا خَشِيتُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهَا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّكَ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ عَنْهَا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْجُجْ عَنْ أُمِّكَ»
