[Machine] I accompanied Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and said to him, "Advise me, may Allah have mercy on you." He said, "Guard against three things that Allah will benefit you with. If you can avoid being known and not knowing others, then do so. And if you can listen without speaking, then do so. And if you can sit without being approached, then do so."  

الطبراني:١٥٩١٩bحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ قَالَ

صَحِبْتُ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَوْصِنِي رَحِمَكَ اللهُ قَالَ احْفَظْ عَنِّي ثَلَاثَ خِلَالٍ يَنْفَعُكَ اللهُ بِهِنَّ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَعْرِفَ وَلَا تُعْرَفَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْمَعَ وَلَا تَكَلَّمَ فَافْعَلْ وَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ وَلَا يُجْلَسَ إِلَيْكَ فَافْعَلْ
