We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the blacksmith Abū Sayf, and he was the husband of the wet nurse of Ibrāhīm, peace be upon him, (the son of the Prophet). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took Ibrāhīm and kissed him and smelled him and later we entered Abū Sayf's house and at that time Ibrāhīm was taking his last breaths, and the eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started shedding tears.
ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAwf said, "O Allah's Apostle, even you are weeping!" He said, "O Ibn ʿAwf, this is mercy." Then he wept more and said, "The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrāhīm ! Indeed we are grieved by your separation."

Even when heartbroken we never say that which displeases Allah
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A child was born into me tonight night and I named him after my father Ibrāhīm." He then sent him to Umm Sayf, the wife of a blacksmith named Abū Sayf. ˹The Prophet ﷺ˺ went to him and I followed him until we reached Abu Sayf while he was blowing fire with the help of blacksmith's bellows and the house was filled with smoke. I hastened my step and went ahead of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Abū Sayf, stop it, as there comes the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He stopped and the Prophet ﷺ called for the child. He embraced him and said what Allah had desired. Anas said: I saw that the boy breathed his last in the presence of Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shed tears and he said: "Our eyes shed tears and our hearts are filled with grief, but we do not say anything except that by which Allah is pleased. O Ibrāhīm, by Allah, we are grieved for you."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: A child was born to me at night and I named him Ibrahim after his. He then narrated the rest of the tradition. Anas said: I saw it at the point of the death before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Tears began to fall from the eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: The eye weeps and the heart grieves, but we say only what our Lord is pleased with, and we are grieved for you, Ibrahim.

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ud that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I used to forbid you to visit the graves, but now visit them, for they will draw your attention away from this world and remind you of the Hereafter.”
“When Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wept. The one who was consoling him, either Abu Bakr or ‘Umar, said to him: ‘You are indeed the best of those who glorify Allah with what is due to him.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The eye weeps and the heart grieves, but we do not say anything that angers the Lord. Were it not that death is something that inevitably comes to all, and that the latter will surely join the former, then we would have been more than we are, verily we grieve for you.’”

He (the Holy Prophet) went to him and I followed him until we reached Abu Saif and he was blowing fire with the help of blacksmith's bellows and the house was filled with smoke. I hastened my step and went ahead of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Abu Saif, stop it, as there comes Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him). [Machine] The Prophet ﷺ took me by the hand, and I went with him to Ibrahim, his son, who was playing by himself. The Prophet ﷺ took him into his room and kept him there until his soul departed. He then placed him down and cried. I said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, you cry even though you have forbidden crying?" He said, "I have not forbidden crying, but I have forbidden two foolish and sinful voices: a voice produced during idle entertainment, play, and the devil's flutes, and a voice produced during a calamity that involves striking faces and tearing garments. This is mercy, and whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy. If it were not for the fact that it is a true promise and a true saying, and that the first will join the latter, we would have been more sorrowful for you than this. Indeed, O Ibrahim, our eyes shed tears, our hearts grieve, but we do not say anything that angers the Lord." (This part has been excluded by Al-Dhahabi in his summary.)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ went out with Abdullah ibn Awf to the date palm trees, and suddenly his son Ibrahim began to gasp for breath. So the Prophet put him down in his lap, and his eyes filled with tears. Abdullah ibn Awf said, "Are you crying while you forbid people from crying?" The Prophet said, "I do not forbid crying, but I forbid two foolish and sinful voices: a voice at the sound of play and amusement, and the flutes of Satan, and a voice at the time of a calamity that involves tearing of faces and cutting of pockets, and wailing. This is a mercy, and whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy. O Ibrahim! Had it not been the fact that this is a promise of Allah and a matter that is true, and that our last will join our first, we would have been more grief-stricken because of you than this. We are saddened by you, O Ibrahim!" His eyes were shedding tears, his heart was saddened, and we do not say anything that angers the Lord.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade mention of the meat of sacrificial animals and vessels, and visiting graves. Then he mentioned his permission for it due to their length. He said, "I had forbidden you from visiting the graves, but then it became clear to me that they soften the heart, bring tears to the eyes, and remind one of the Hereafter. So, visit them, and do not utter harsh words."
