The Prophet ﷺ said, "What is wrong with those people who look towards the sky during the prayer?" His talk grew stern while delivering this speech and he said, "They should stop (looking towards the sky during the prayer); otherwise their eyesight would be taken away."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلاَتِهِمْ فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ حَتَّى قَالَ لَيَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The people who lift their eyes towards the sky in Prayer should avoid it or they would lose their eyesight.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ أَوْ لاَ تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ

People should avoid lifting their eyes towards the sky while supplicating in prayer, otherwise their eyes would be snatched away.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ رَفْعِهِمْ أَبْصَارَهُمْ عِنْدَ الدُّعَاءِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

What is the matter that people raise their (Upwards) in prayer. He then said sternly: They should stop doing that, otherwise their sight will be snatched away.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي صَلاَتِهِمْ فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَيَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "What is the matter with people who lift their gaze to the sky when praying?" And he spoke sternly concerning that until he said: "They must stop that or they will certainly lose their eyesight."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "People should certainly stop lifting their gaze to the sky when they supplicate during the prayer, or they will lose their eyesight."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ رَفْعِ أَبْصَارِهِمْ عِنْدَ الدُّعَاءِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led his Companions in prayer one day. When he had finished prayer he turned to face the people and said: ‘What is wrong with some people that they lift their gaze to the heavens?’ He spoke severely concerning that: ‘They should certainly abstain from that or Allah will snatch away their sight.’”

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا بِأَصْحَابِهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلاَةَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ حَتَّى اشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ لَيَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَيَخْطَفَنَّ اللَّهُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ

“Let those who lift their gaze to the heavens desist, or their sight will not come back.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لاَ تَرْجِعُ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque and they raised their eyes towards the sky in prayer. He said, "You should lower your gazes, or your eyes will not return to you."

دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدْ رَفَعُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَ «لَتَنْتَهُنَّ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكُمْ أَبْصَارُكُمْ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "What is the matter with people who lift their gaze to the sky when praying?" And he spoke sternly concerning that until he said: "They must stop that or they will certainly lose their eyesight." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1193)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ؟» فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ حَتَّى قَالَ «لَتَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَيَخْطَفَنَّ اللَّهُ أَبْصَارَكُمْ»

“Let those who lift their gaze to the heavens desist, or their sight will not come back.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1045)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ

[AI] "I see that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'People should stop raising their gaze during prayer up to the sky, or else Allah will snatch away their sight.'"

وَأُرَاهُ ذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لَيَخْطِفَنَّ اللهُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ

أَن نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلاتِهِمْ فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَتَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُكُمْ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبة وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ أَيْضًا رَوَيَاهُ عَن قَتادة عَن أَنَس عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ لينتهين ناس عن رفع أبصارهم إلى السماء عند الدعاء حتى يخطف يعني أو يخطف أبصارهم

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لينتهين أقوم يرفعون أبصارهم إلى السَّماء في الصلاة أو ليخطفن أبصارهم وَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمْهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ إِلا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَاد

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon them while they were raising their gaze, so he said, "Let people stop raising their gazes to the sky during prayer or it will not be returned to them."

دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُمْ رَافِعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فَقَالَ «لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ رَفْعِهِمْ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Certain people should stop casting their gazes around during prayer or else their sight will not be returned to them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ رَفْعِهِمْ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ»

[AI] "Abdullah said, 'No one should feel secure that he lifts his head before the Imam lifts his head, otherwise his head will turn into the head of a dog, and some people should stop raising their gazes to the sky, or their vision will be taken away.'"

عَبْدُ اللهِ «مَا يَأْمَنُ الَّذِي يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ الْإِمَامُ رَأْسَهُ أَنْ يَعُودَ رَأْسُهُ رَأْسَ كَلْبٍ وَلَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لَيُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ»

[AI] To raise one's head during prayer before the imam, and to return one's head like a dog's head, and to stop those who raise their eyes during prayer, or it does not return to them.

أَنْ يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْإِمَامِ أَنْ يَعُودَ رَأْسُهُ رَأْسَ كَلْبٍ وَلَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ»

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Certain people should stop raising their gaze towards the sky, or else their sight will be taken away from them."

"لَيَنْتَهِيَن أقْوَامٌ يرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاء في الصَّلاة أوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيهِمْ أبْصَارُهُمْ".

"مَا بَالُ أقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلاتِهِمْ، لَيَنْتَهُنَّ عَن ذَلِكَ، أوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أبْصَارُهُمْ".
